Kane’s POV

The meeting wrapped with clipped nods and firm handshakes, the weight of strategy still heavy in the air. Plans were in motion, routes considered, allies being contacted, and yet… there was one thing still pulling at me harder than anything else.
Tessa.
I glanced her way. She’d stayed quiet the last ten minutes, tucked into that cold chair, eyes tracking everything even if her expression didn’t betray much. Brave, smart, determined- and still recovering from the hell Dimitri had dragged her through. And I was about to drag her into another storm if we weren’t careful.
I needed a moment.
“Tessa,” I said quietly, walking toward her. “Can you wait for me outside for a minute?”
Her brows tugged slightly in confusion, lips parting as if to question it. But after a moment, she nodded slowly, standing from the chair and heading for the door without protest. She didn’t say anything, just threw one last look over her shoulder before slipping out and pulling the heavy door shut behind her.
As soon as it clicked closed, I turned back to Kion.
He raised an eyebrow. “Something else?”
“Yeah…” I exhaled. “I’ve got one more thing to ask.”
The other two wolves looked between us, sensing the shift in tone. Whatever they saw in my expression must’ve told them it wasn’t
something for their ears. Without Kion needing to say a word, they pushed away from the wall and quietly exited the room, the door
closing again behind them.
“You were saying?” Kion promoted me to carry on the second we were alone.
“I know you’ve done so much for me already, but I have a favour to ask of you Kion…” I begin, carefully selecting the right words to not
sound like a total idiot with this.
Kion leaned against the edge of his desk, arms crossed. “You’ve done a lot for me since we first met too, Kane. For not only me, but for
my people. I owe you the world for it. You need something… just name it.”
I nodded once, swallowing the strange lump in my throat.
“I don’t want to leave Russia until I’ve fully mated with Tessa.” I state, the words landing heavily amongst the silence and causing Kion’s
brows to rise slightly.

He definitely hadn’t expected that…
Kion blinked. His silence stretched for half a beat, and then-
“Ah,” he said with a small smile, scratching his stubble. “So that’s it.”

“I won’t risk going home without the bond. I won’t risk her being unprotected if something goes wrong. But more than that…” I glanced
toward the door, already imagining her on the other side. “I just… I need it to be right. I want it to mean something. Not a rushed act in a
bunker or a back room because we’re running out of time. She deserves more than that.”
Kion tilted his head. “So what are you asking me for? I hope it’s not to do it for you…”

“I definitely don’t need help in that department!” I snort, as the both of us share a laugh together before I wave him off.
I winced slightly, rubbing a hand across my neck. “I guess… I’m asking you to help me set up something nicer for the both of us… here at
the pack… basically a date of some kind? Something she wouldn’t expect.”
He laughed, full, deep, amused again. The kind of laugh only Kion could pull off without it feeling mocking at all.
“You want me to help you plan a romantic evening?” he asked in disbelief, his thick accent making it sound twice as absurd.
Put like that, I could see why it sounded ridiculous.
“I guess I am,” I muttered. “Maybe just something like a nice dinner. Private. Quiet. Just for her and me. Tonight, if it’s doable.”
“Ah, young love,” Kion chuckled. “Always making fools out of us.”
The words made me wonder if he had ever had a serious partner, but I didn’t feel that now would be the time to ask…
He stepped away from the desk and reached for his comm link. “There is nothing I would love more than to support the two of you
finalising your reunion, although dates aren’t exactly my forte but I’m sure I could gather some others to help…” he said, his voice
surprisingly warm now. “Leave it with me. I’ll have it arranged within the hour. You’ll know where to be and for what time.”
Relief crashed through my system like a wave, and I reached forward to shake his hand. He gripped mine firmly, nodding with something
close to approval in his sharp blue eyes.
“Outfits? Do they have stores nearby? I could go buy us nicer stuff in town? Sneak off undetected.” I hum, as he nods.
“They do yes, I’ll get you a car, just let me know a time.” He continues to smile before adding;
“One more thing, brother,” he stated before letting go. “You make her happy. Not just tonight. Always. I like that human of yours.” Kion
states, as I can’t help but smile big at that.
I nodded. “That’s always the plan – I knew from the second I met her she’d be a keeper.”

By the time I opened the door and stepped out into the hallway, Tessa was right where I’d left her- arms crossed, shoulders leaning against the wall, eyes scanning me suspiciously the moment I appeared.
She straightened as I approached. “Everything okay?”
“Yeah,” I said, offering her a smile and gesturing for us to start walking. “I guess you want to go visit Sasha now?”
“Yes- definitely.” Her answer was instant, but then she narrowed her eyes, walking a step closer. “But what was all that about in there?”
I kept my tone cool, relaxed, like we hadn’t just finalized a cross–continental escape plan and a romantic evening all at once.
“Just some final details. Kion had a few more things to run past me.”
She arched a brow. “Uh–huh. Sure. Things I had to stand outside for?”
I grinned. “You’ll find out soon enough angel, it’s nothing to worry your pretty little head over.”
She rolled her eyes, but I caught the smile she tried to hide as we moved down the corridor together.
Little did she know that tonight wouldn’t just be a night to recover from the chaos or to prepare for war.
Tonight was going to be about us.
For once, no politics. No fugitives. No war councils or emergency escapes.
Just me and the girl who ruined every plan I ever had- in the best damn way possible.
And by the end of it, she’d be mine.
Fully, Forever, Bonded by blood, heart, and fate.
No council, no rival, no damn border could change that.
Tessa was my future…
