Chapter 120

Tessa’s POV

57

The door to the hospital room creaked open, and a rush of warm, sterile air welcomed us inside

Sasha lay propped up against a stack of pillows, her face pale but more alive than I’d seen since we first found her

The faintest trace of color had returned to her cheeks, and her eyes, though still rimmed with tiredness, held a spark of determination

Without hesitation, Erin stepped forward and pulled me into a quick, almost desperate hug. Sasha’s doing much better today, aren’t you?”

she said, her voice hopeful but still cautious, like she was afraid to fully believe it

I smiled softly, letting Erin’s words sink in. It felt like a small victory in the endless storm we’d been caught in

The last few days had felt like a blur- each second heavy with fear, doubt, and the looming threat that had been Dimitri

Seeing Sasha here, alive and awake, was more than I dared hope for

I moved closer to Sasha’s bedside, taking her hand gently in mine. It felt fragile but warm, a steady heartbeat beneath my fingers. I’m so

glad you’re here,I whispered, squeezing her hand softly. We all are.”

Kane’s voice broke the tender moment as he stepped into the room, his presence filling the space with a calm authority. I’ll leave you

girls to talk a sec,he said, nodding toward Seth, who followed him silently out of the room. I have a lot to catch Seth up on.”

I nodded, understanding the unspoken message: this was our time now. Just the three of us- Sasha, Erin, and me

Erin settled into the chair beside the bed, her eyes never leaving Sasha’s face, I could see the exhaustion etched deep in her features, but

also the fierce hope that held her up. Sasha met her gaze, a tired smile breaking through the shadows under her eyes

How are you feeling now?I asked, my voice soft, careful not to rush her

Sasha’s smile faltered slightly before she spoke, her voice rough and ragged from days of silence and pain. A whole lot better, she said

slowly, butstill anxious more than anything. I just don’t believe it’s really over.”

Her words hit me hard- because even though Dimitri was dead, the scars he left behind were far deeper than any blade or bullet. His

shadow lingered, threatening to pull us back into fear and chaos

I squeezed her hand again, determined to be the anchor she needed. I know,I said firmly, meeting her gaze. But Dimitri is dead. He

won’t ever be able to hurt you again.”

Sasha’s eyes glistened with unshed tears, a mixture of relief and lingering terror. It’s hard to let go of that fear, she admitted, voice

trembling. I keep expecting the worst- like it’s still waiting around the corner.”

Erin leaned forward, her voice steady despite the fatigue. We’re here. Alpha Kion will ensure that nothing like that can ever happen

again! He seems like a good man!”

The weight of those words settled between us, a promise forged in shared pain and fierce loyalty

I felt a surge of protectiveness, knowing that we had to be strong- not just for ourselves, but for each other

I glanced at Sasha’s bruised hands and swollen wriststhe evidence of her captivity and the brutal fight to survive. You’re one of the

strongest people I know,I told her quietly. You’ve already beaten the worst of it.”

A small, genuine smile finally broke through her exhaustion, and for a moment, the hospital room felt less like a place of pain and more

like a sanctuary

You’ll get through this,I promised. They are already working to reunite familiesmaybe yours is still out there somewhere too, waiting

for you to come home!I add, as Sasha’s eyes fall down on the sheets

Now that would truly be a miracleI always told myself they would have just killed everyone at my old pack when they took usSasha

admits steadily, her eyes watering slightly at the thought

You don’t know that for sure though! You have to have hope!Erin stands up to add, as I nod along in agreement with her

Dimitri isn’t the type to leave a pack standing strong, he would have burned that place to the ground.Sasha argues, already having

decided the fate of her family without knowing the truth

But Kion said that many of them managed to escapeto find safety in neighbouring packsthere’s still a chance they got out of there.”

I tell her, my words full of enough hope for the pair of us

Sasha glances between us, thinking on it for a second, before offering a slow sigh, eventually nodding

You are rightI can always tryI’ll speak to Alpha Kion when I next see him about tracking them.Sasha agrees, as I smile big at the

idea

I just hoped they were still out there somewhere waiting for her…

Sasha had been given more than enough bad news at this point…

I shifted my weight, pulling the chair closer to Sasha’s bed so I could sit beside her, still holding her hand

The sterile scent of antiseptic and faint hum of machines filled the quiet space, but inside, the room felt charged with something fragile-

hope, maybe, or the slow stirring of life after so much darkness

I squeezed her hand, fighting back the lump in my throat. You’re here now. We found you. And you’re safe. That’s what matters.”

A small laugh, shaky but real, escaped her lips. Safe is a strange word when you live like this, she said, motioning vaguely around the

hospital room, butI want to believe it.”

Erin nodded in agreement, her tired eyes reflecting the same hardearned hope. We’ll build that safe. Piece by piece.”

I glanced over at Erin and then back to Sasha. We’re family now,I said firmly. Not by blood, but by choice. And nothing’s going to break

that.”

Sasha’s gaze softened, and she blinked back tears. Thank youfor not giving up on me.”

We never gave up,I whispered. And we never will.”

For a long moment, the three of us sat there in silence, the weight of our shared past pressing gently against the walls. The fight wasn’t

overnot by a long shotbut in this room, with my friends beside me, I dared to believe in a future worth fighting for

As I watched her, I knew we were all healing- not just our bodies, but our souls

This was the beginning of something new, something better

Sasha just had to believe that it was all possible…
