The limo came to a smooth stop, and I glanced out the window as the driver opened the door for us.
Before us stood the most beautiful log cabin I had ever seen, nestled into the clearing at the edge of the woods. The warm amber glow of countless flickering candles lined the pathway, each flame dancing gently in the cool night air like a trail of tiny stars guiding us home.
As we stepped out, the crisp air kissed our cheeks, and the scent of pine and fresh wood filled the space around us.
A woman in a neat, dark jacket was waiting at the door, holding a small wooden box. She smiled warmly as Kane approached.
“Welcome, Alpha Kane, and Miss Tessa,” she said softly, handing over the keys with a gentle nod. Along with the keys, she passed Kane a bottle of deep red wine. “Compliments from Alpha Kion.” She nods as she handed it over.
It was an expensive bottle too, I could tell that much.
“Thank you,” I said with a polite but grateful tone, my eyes scanning over our home for the night.
The woman gave us one last smile before sliding gracefully by us and into the limo, which pulled away quietly, leaving us alone with the cabin and the quiet of the night.
Tessa followed me across the porch, her footsteps soft on the aged wooden planks.
The heavy door creaked open us I unlocked it, revealing the cabin’s interior- a modern and cozy haven bathed in warm light.
The scent of burning cedarwood drifted from a fire crackling merrily in the stone hearth, its flames casting golden flickers across the polished wooden beams and soft furnishings.
Inside, the space was vast yet inviting. Plush rugs lay scattered across the floor, soft and thick underfoot. On a rustic wooden table near the
hearth, two crystal–clear wine glasses were perched perfectly beside the battle, waiting for us alongside some additional snacks.
I watched as Tessa kicked off her shoes, wasting zero time on getting more comfortable here, as she began to explore the space with quiet
delight.
Each step brought new discoveries- a cozy nook with thick cushions, a small shelf with books in both English and Russian, and windows that
framed the starry night perfectly outside.
Then, drawn by curiosity, she wandered down a short hallway to a large room as I followed at her back. A king size bed, fresh white sheets,
scattered with white rose petals – making the room almost too perfect to be disturbed.
On top, there were carefully folded fluffy white robes, each paired with soft slippers, as Tessa lifted them in to her hands to feel the material,
sighing in content…
I left her to explore in there, going towards the sliding back doors of the cabin, only as my breath caught in my throat…
