Kane’s POV
I almost laugh at the revelation that Seth was behind this whole incident all along however know that it must be dealt with in the best possible way to
avoid further implications…
“Look, this is what I want you both to do… get in the car… drive to your Dads place and get the girl… bring her back here and put her in one of the spare rooms.” I tell the pair of them, as they nod simultaneously with my plan.
“Tell her that she can see Tessa in the morning and I’ll have clothes brought to her room for when you get back… she can shower and change here…“[ state, as the three of us stand from our current positions and head towards the door.
It was late now, and the day had seemed to stretch on forever at this rate…
“We might need to take a look at those burns when she gets here too…” Seth informs us on our way out as I nod and internally prepare myself for the sight
of them.
Now that the stress of my pack duties and meetings were past, I was beginning to grow furious with Leo… he signed up to being a human back here only to use and abuse her like his very own puppet.

He was a sick bastard but I’ll have him dealt with tomorrow…
I leave Seth and Anthony at the main staircase, as they head out to the car to go and get the girl to bring her back here. In the meantime, I head back to Tessa’s room to grab clothes from the wardrobe in there filled with girly shit.
Hopefully she managed to dose off, although she did ask to be woken up if I had any update with Erin? But it can wait til the morning… I should let her
sleep…

I reach the door, being careful on opening it not to make too much noise, before I step in and begin to make my way towards the wardrobe.
“Kane?” I turn on my heels hearing her quiet whisper, before she pushes herself up on to her elbows and finds me across the room.
“W–What are you doing?” She ponders next, rubbing at her left eyes before proceeding to sit up fully.
I watch her stretch a little, judging that she must have been beginning to dose off however not fully fell asleep yet…
“I’m grabbing clothes from your wardrobe.” I explain, as she pushes her long hair back from her face.
“Clothes?” She sounds confused at first, before I sigh and approach the edge of her bed – deciding that I might as well get it over with to give her some relief from today.
“We found her… your friend… she’s on her way here. I came up to grab her a change of clothes.” I cut to the chase, watching her whole face light up after each passing word.
“She’s… she’s ok?! B–But you won’t send her back there will you? Back to him?” She rushes out, panic surging through her at the sudden thought of Erin going back to her original situation with Leo.
“No… she will stay here… I plan on dealing with him tomorrow.” I confirm, before she squeals loudly and lunges towards me arms wrapping around my shoulders in a tight embrace.

Chapter 25
“Thank you! Thank you so much Kane!” She yells out, having fully woke up now as I chuckle at her eagerness.
“You didn’t stutter… I was worried that it wouldn’t go away this time after I scared you earlier with my temper… I point out, as she pulls back from mee wed
offers me a genuine smile.
“I’m trying…” She comments, her eyes glinting with an unfamiliar emotion.
“I know you are… I’m glad.” I admit, thankful that she was beginning to warm up to me more and more with each passing day understanding how to deal
with me as an Alpha.
“So what happened? Where… did she go?” Tessa sits back, legs crossed and prepared to hear to full update as I twist slightly to face her.
I clear my throat, enjoying this brief moment in which I could contribute to her mood – with the slight ounce of guilt still remaining from before when I had shut her down time and time again about her friend.
“You can thank Seth… he went rogue and took it upon himself to go back for her!” I chuckle, as she shakes her head and smiles in disbelief.
“He’s a good guy!” She states, as I fight back my inner wolf to not become jealous with the meaningless comment.
She doesn’t mean it that way… he’s a good friend of mine and a good friend of hers now… behave!
“He is… he took her to his Dads place not far from here and put her in the basement… not even my best trackers could catch her scent! I was starting to get worried, but turns out it was just Seth this whole damn time!” I explain with a scoff, given that I hadn’t even considered it as a possibility until he had
fessed up!
“Can I tell you a s–secret?” She whispers, although I catch the playful side to her tone and nod for her to go on.
“Between you and me… I actually think that Seth might like Erin… y–you know?” We continue to laugh together as Tessa admits her suspicions and I inwardly agree with her.
I think she’s on to something… despite knowing that Seth did actually put her down as an option at the judgment day but was too late to explore it… I think he wants to now.
“Another question…” She continues, as her face falls into a confused expression – shuffling slightly to get more comfortable.
“What is it?” I push her to say it, again feeling guilty over the fact that she might potentially hold back on telling me things now after I continued to cut her off before…
But I suppose there’s always the last resort to get information out of her now…
“I–If Erin has already been selected for the trial period… is it too late for Seth to be with her instead?” Tessa’s eyes glint with curiosity, as they grow big and hopeful for my next response.
In the books, it’s not the simple… but if there’s one thing I know about Seth, it’s that he will for sure make it work his way or the highway!
“If it’s meant to be, then it will be. Maybe Erin will need some time first to get over what’s happened before rushing into things.” I bargain, as Tessa seems satisfied with my response.
With that, I look her over once more – seeing her tired eyes behind her excited facade. She needs to sleep…
“I want you to sleep. You can see Erin in the morning.” I state, before she pouts out her bottom lip slightly in pleas with me.

Chapter 25
“The most you’ll get from me with that face is a kiss angel… that’s my decision… steep and you can spend all day together tomorrow her about that?” state, not shifting in my decision.
If I gave her the choice, she would be downstairs waiting to see her all night… they both need to rest!
“O–Ok… thank you Kane… for coming around with all of this.” She tells me as I lean forward to place a kiss on her head before moving to her cheek and
landing on her lips.
She blushes once again – a reaction that I had grown to enjoying from her before she complies and lies back under the soft duvet.
I head to her closet, grabbing pyjamas, the first pair of new underwear with tags I could see and socks. I’m sure Tessa can sort her out tomorrow for
clothes…
I exit, supplies in hand, before making my way towards the bedroom door.
“Night angel.” I call over my shoulder, enjoying using the nickname specifically for her.
“Good night Kane.” She replies softly, and with that, I close over the door and begin to make my way downstairs.
When I reached the bottom, I glance out front to see if Seth’s van was back yet only to find that it wasn’t – before I decide to make my way around to where Seth’s room is – finding that perhaps the spare room close to him will offer Erin some comfort.
I place the stuff on the freshly made up bed – turning on the bedside light to give a warmer glow to the room. It was smaller than most of the others in the house but still had its own toilet and shower attached with a decent sized TV mounted up on the wall.
This room actually used to be bigger prior to Seth taking over this area of the house – renovating three of the rooms to give him more space which left two of the guest rooms smaller in size.
If all goes well moving forward… maybe Erin’s stuff will slowly transition next door…
“Kane?!” I turn when hearing Anthony yell followed by the closing of the front door.
I head out and around towards them, as my eyes are met with the small female in question – Erin.
She wore Seth’s large black padded jacket which drowned her completely and her hair sat on the top of her head completely matted from the days events…
“Hi Erin… I’m Alpha Kane, we met at the dinner.” I force my voice to be softer, understanding that the human had been through enough up til now.
“Hello…” She squeaks out, glancing to Seth briefly before returning her gaze to me.
“You will stay here for the time–being and you can see Tessa in the morning after you both get some sleep. Leo will be dealt with accordingly so you don’t have to worry about that. Seth will be in the next room to yours too if you need anything during the night – feel free to shower and use any of the shit in there and you’ll find a change of clothes on the bed.” I wave her to walk further in to our home, as they follow me around to the bedroom in question.
I almost felt like a hotel tour guide for a split second, as we step aside and allow her to enter the bedroom as she studies it once over.
“This is really kind…” She breathes out, turning back to us and looking incredibly relieved.
“Get a good sleep and we will see you for breakfast.” I nod, as she pushes a small smile on to her face before I turn to leave her with Seth to get settled in.
“Who knew these humans would impact us this much!” Anthony laughs out, as I shake my head and agree with him.

He doesn’t even have a girl this year and even he is feeling the bonds grow… life is most definitely going to change for us now.
