Chapter 45
Tessa’s POV
3
The morning sunlight filtered through the dusty window of our room, casting a soft glow over the
chaos that still surrounded us.
It was the choosing this afternoon, the moment of truth with the final key to whether or not myself
and Erin would potentially ever see Kane or Seth again…
Despite our best efforts to clean up the mess from last night’s vandalism, the room still bore the scars of the attack, serving as a constant reminder of the danger that lurked just beyond our door as all of our personal belongings had been either stolen or destroyed: including the photograph of my
Mom which broke my heart completely.

I would love to pay her a visit soon… but whether I will be granted that privilege now is a different
story.
As I stirred from my restless sleep, my mind immediately returned to the events of the previous night, the shock and fear still fresh in my memory.
But even as I tried to push aside the lingering sense of unease, a new wave of dread washed over me at the thought of what today would bring.
With a heavy sigh, I pushed myself up from the makeshift bed, the creak of the floorboards echoing in the stillness of the room. Beside me, Erin stirred, her brows furrowed with worry as she too woke
from her uneasy slumber.
“Morning,” I greeted her from my mattress on the floor, my voice tinged with fatigue as I rubbed the
sleep from my eyes.
Erin offered me a tired smile in return, but the worry still lingered in her eyes. “Morning… today’s the day” she replied, her voice soft with concern as nod.
As we both rose from our makeshift bed, the events of the previous night weighed heavily on our minds, casting a shadow over what should have been a new day filled with hope and possibility.
But with the choosing ceremony looming on the horizon, the uncertainty of our future hung over us

like a dark cloud, threatening to extinguish any flicker of hope that remained.

Before we could dwell on our fears any longer, there was a sharp knock at the door, causing both of
us to jump in surprise. With a sense of trepidation, crossed the room and cautiously opened the
door, revealing Miss Felicity to be the one standing on the other side.
“Good morning, girls… long time no see!” She greeted us, her tone false and cheery but her
expression unreadable.
“I trust that you both had a restful night?” She hums, fully ignoring the red horrifying paint smeared across our front door reading the word ‘slut‘ which had stared her in the face as she knocked.
She was simply unbelievable…
Erin and I exchanged a puzzled glance, taken aback by Miss Felicity’s apparent indifference to the
state of our room.
“Uh, y–yeah, as restful as it could be,” I replied cautiously, unsure of what to make of her sudden
appearance here.
Was this her way of trying to say that we hadn’t been selected? Maybe she is here to tell us both not
to attend the ceremony?
Miss Felicity nodded, her eyes sweeping over the room with a look of mild interest. “Good, good,” she muttered, her tone casual as she examined the damage.
“Well, I’m here to deliver some news about the choosing later girls.” She redirects the subject matter, as my eyes squint in confusion to how absent she was behaving.
Did she know about this all along because that’s how it looks to me?!
My heart skipped a beat at her words, a surge of anxiety coursing through me at the thought of what
she was about to say.
“Yes… What is it?” Erin asked, her voice tinged with nervousness the way it always was around this very woman who held more power around here than what she should be entitled to even have.
Miss Felicity smiled, but there was a coldness to her expression that sent a shiver down my spine.

“It seems that neither of you will be moving forward in the choosing, so you don’t have to worry
about that.” She stated matter–of–factly, her words landing like a blow to the gut.
They don’t want us… so it’s official…
Erin and I exchanged a stunned glance, unable to process what we were finally hearing.
“What d–do you mean?” I asked, my voice trembling with disbelief. “We thought that… we had a chance…” I breathe out, my growing upset creeping up on me like a growing tornado.

Miss Felicity shrugged, her expression nonchalant. “Well, sometimes things don’t go as planned do they girls,” she replied dismissively, her tone tinged with slight annoyance.
The room fell into a heavy silence as Erin and I struggled to comprehend the gravity of Miss Felicity’s words. It felt as though the ground had been ripped out from under us, leaving us suspended in a void of uncertainty and despair.
“But… but we’ve been working so hard,” Erin protested, her voice choked with emotion. “We thought… we thought we would have a chance to prove ourselves.” She claims; despite knowing that Miss Felicity couldn’t actually change the fact even if she wanted to.
Kane and Seth don’t want us anymore…
Did they even bother to come back here with us after dropping us off on the jet? That explains why Anthony drove us? Are they already gone? Heading home to never think twice about either of us
ever again…
Miss Felicity’s smile widened, a cruel glint in her eyes as she surveyed us with thinly veiled contempt
– enjoying our pain.
“I’m afraid it’s out of my hands,” she stated coldly, her tone dripping with disdain.
“But perhaps it’s for the best. After all, not everyone is cut out for life with an Alpha.” Miss Felicity shrugs, as my blood runs cold.
Her words cut through me like a knife, each syllable driving home the harsh reality of our situation. Despite our efforts to prove ourselves, it seemed that we would always be on the outside looking in, forever condemned to a life of rejection and isolation.

Chapter 45
As Miss Felicity turned to leave, a sense of resignation settled over me like a heavy cloak. It was clear that there was no reasoning with her, no change of appealing her decision. We were alone, cast
adrift in a sea of hostility and indifference.
But even as despair threatened to consume me, a small spark of defiance flickered to life within me
No matter what Miss Felicity or anyone else said, I refused to give up hope.
We may have been rejected this time around, but that didn’t mean our journey was OPEL
With Erin by my side, I knew that together, we would find a way to prove our worth and carve out a
place for ourselves in this world – even if it meant defying the odds and facing whatever challenges
lay ahead.
Just as Miss Felicity reached the door, she turned back to us with a smirk, her eyes gleaming with a
sinister glint. “Not to worry though, girls, I almost forgot about the most exciting part!” She states
with a twisted smile causing my breathing to increase with worry.
“I think that I may have found you both a couple of new suitors already – both of them are from the same pack too! You can come with me right now and meet them both!” She concludes, as both of our
eyes widen like deer caught in headlights.
What?! Already?! What about the whole judgement process… stage one, stage two, the trial? What
was this setup?
My heart froze in anticipation, my mind reeling at the unexpected twist. New suitors? From a new pack? But at least we would both be going to the same place again…
What could Miss Felicity possibly have in store for us now?
Why would she pick us of all people to meet them too?
This has to be a trap… probably the most horrific males ever to exist… that would be more probable.
Erin’s eyes widened in surprise, her expression mirroring my own shock.
“New suitors?” she echoed, her voice tinged with disbelief.
“But what about the choosing ceremony? I thought we still had to attend even if we weren’t
selected…” Erin comments, clearly hoping to have seen Seth one last time today.

Miss Felicity waved a dismissive hand, cutting off Erin’s protest before she could finish.
“Consider this a… special arrangement,” she replied cryptically, a mysterious smile playing at the
corners of her lips.
*I assure you, that these suitors are quite… eager to meet you and right now.” She concludes with a wave of her wrist to instruct us both to hurry up to get organised.
This can’t be real…
I’m never going to see Kane again?
A shiver ran down my spine at Miss Felicity’s ominous words, a sense of unease settling over me like
a dark cloud.
What kind of arrangement was this because it definitely didn’t sound legal?
And why did it feel like we were walking straight into a trap?
The worst part was, there was quite literally nothing we could do – we have to obey for the consequences of not following the rules would be far worse for us.
Kane and Seth might regret their decision one day, but by then it will be too late… a chance missed
and gone forever…
With a nod of determination, I squared my shoulders and met Miss Felicity’s gaze head–on. “Give us f–five minutes to get ready…” I nod once, as Erin looks shocked at my words.
With that, we close the door to shut her out – and move to open our bags that had been delivered
here last night.
“I can’t believe they don’t want us anymore…” Erin breathes, looking startled as she goes into
overdrive and gets herself ready.
“It’s not too late! At least we are g–going to a new place together right?” I sniffle, fighting back the
tears.
Let’s just hope that the next chapter holds at least some promise… a new start…
