Chapter 56
Kane’s POV
The jet touched down on Russian soil, and as the engines wound down, I felt a surge of adrenaline coursing through my veins.
This was it.
The moment of truth.
The moment we would begin our search for Tessa and Erin in earnest.
As I stepped off the jet and onto the tarmac, the bitter cold of the Russian winter hit me like a physical blow, sending a shiver down my spine. I pulled my coat tighter around me, trying to ward off the chill as I scanned the area for any sign of our contact.
The rest of our men would be joining us here shortly, building our strength in numbers as we plan our attacks on Russian soil.
“Will he show?!” I question loudly, awaiting an answer from one of our intel.
“Said he would love to meet you.” One of my guys informs, clearing his throat as nod and gesture for them to follow me towards the airspace building for
warmth whilst we wait.
I’m not standing out here like a damn polar bear in the wild!
Inside, the Russian staff were surprisingly accommodating- offering us coffees whilst we waited and heated up and I would say we sat there for around twenty minutes before a number of cars approached from the distance causing me to stand for a better view out of the window.
It must be him… Alpha Kion from the serpent pack! He agreed to meet us to hear us out but as far as I was aware it could be an ambush but we had to take
our chances…
The cars swung themselves into spaces outside, before each member of their pack exited the vehicle and stood on high alert causing my own men to stand by my side for added protection.
Everyone was on edge and understandably – we had faced nothing like this before now.
A figure approached from the back of the men, his breath misting in the frigid air as he drew closer and I couldn’t quite get a good enough view.
As the figure stepped into the light, I caught my first glimpse of Alpha Kion. He was a towering figure, his presence commanding and authoritative as he surveyed the room with keen interest.
“Alpha Kane?” His eyes settled on me before he greeted in his rich Russian tones, his voice resonating with a deep, rumbling timbre. “I’ve been looking forward to meeting you ever since you called – not to mention finding humour in our similar names.” He adds approaching to shake my hand firmly with a grin as I offer him a half smile.
I nodded in acknowledgment, studying him closely for any signs of deception as returned the shake. But there was something about the way he carried himself, a sense of confidence and assurance that put me slightly at ease (although I still wouldn’t show him that).
“Alpha Kion,” I replied, matching his formal tone. “Thank you for agreeing to meet with us. We have much to discuss since we have found ourselves travelling to your land.” I state firmly.
Kion chuckled, a warm sound that seemed to ease the tension in the room. “Indeed we do,” he said, his gaze meeting mine with a steady intensity. “Why don’t you all come back to my pack – we aren’t far from here. This place isn’t the best location to discuss important business.” Kion suggests, as I think on it briefly.

Chapter 56
It could be a trap…
“We are still waiting on a number of our warriors flying in.” I test, letting him know that I planned on coming here in full swing.
“Ah I see you mean business coming here! Not to worry Alpha, there is room for you all, I can guarantee your packs protection with us!” Kion continues,
seeming like nothing more than a big gentle giant at this rate.
With that, he gestured for us to follow him outside, leading the way as we walked and clambered in to his cars – having my men inform our teams flying in
on where to head when they have landed.
It couldn’t be a trap, because if it was, Kion would undoubtedly have no pack left by the end of it with my warriors flying in… they will be more than prepared to rescue us if things go to shit.
Kion must be smarter than that too, he doesn’t know my strength just like I don’t yet know his…
As we drove back to his pack grounds, I couldn’t shake the feeling that this meeting would change everything, for better or for worse. But one thing was certain: I would do whatever it took to bring Tessa and Erin home, safe and sound regardless of how many enemies I would have to make along the way.
The location was dull, foggy and cold. That was the only words I could use to describe the desolate place. The trees themselves were sparse, as though they
too had the life sucked out of them.
It didn’t take long before we entered the pack territory, feeling a shift in energy to signify to any wolf that they had entered a new pack.
We drove by little chimney smoking cottages which I assume is where his pack members reside (far different from our pack) but who was I to judge?
We eventually reached a cobble stone mansion, like something from a vampire movie – holding great deals of history within its walls.
The cars came to a stop, as we exited and followed the Russian wolves inside – with Kion waiting for me at the foot of the stairs.
“Get comfortable men! Alpha Kane if you would like to follow me we can go to my office.” He motions as I nod once and turn to see Seth and Anthony who I gesture to stay behind.
I’ll be fine without them…
Upon entering his office, Kion motioned for us to take a seat as he settled behind his desk, steepling his fingers thoughtfully as I slowly sank down in to the
chair opposite him too.
“Now then, Alpha Kane,” he began, his tone serious but not unfriendly. “Tell me, what brings you and your men all the way to Russia?” He presses, as I
shuffle to get more comfortable.
I took a deep breath, carefully gathering my thoughts before speaking. “We’ve come to find that two of our pack members were taken against their will,” I explained, my voice steady despite the turmoil raging inside me. “Their names are Tessa and Erin, one in which was also soon to be my mate and bearer of my children!” I state, unable to hide the fury that flashes behind my eyes.

Kion’s expression softened slightly at the mention of their names, a flicker of sympathy crossing his features.
“I see,‘ he said quietly. “And what makes you believe they are here in Russia?” He questions, furrowing his brows probably wondering why of all places they
had landed up here.
“Two Russian males took them illegally from under our noses. The jet they left on was also headed back here and I plan to find them no matter what it takes.” I inform him, as he listens to what I have to say intently.
I recounted everything we knew so far, from the intercepted communications to the information we had gathered about the Russian packs and their practices. Kion listened attentively, his expression thoughtful as he processed the information.

Chapter 56
“You see, that’s why I had ruled out your pack.” I conclude, as Kion chuckles slightly.
“Well I’m glad! You seem quite the fiery type!” Kion comments, lightening the tone as I remain tense.

“I understand your concerns, Alpha Kane,” he said finally, his tone grave. “And I assure you, that my pack definitely had no part in the abduction of your mate. But I am willing to offer my assistance in locating them and ensuring their safe return. Kion offered, grabbing some papers and finding a pen.
“For which price? I know that you aren’t just doing this for free? You are no fool I argue, knowing that for his help, there would need to be a catch.
“Ah yes! Correct! In return, I would like for assistance with rebuilding my pack. Designing it to be more modern and fitting for my loyal members. I had your pack looked in to when you had first called and I must say, you all live quite the lavish lifestyle don’t you?” Kion swivels slightly in his chair, seeming
intrigued.
Is that it? He wants our help in designing his new homes? That’s easy… there has to be more!
“That’s not all you want, is it?” I push on further, as he holds his hands up in the air.
“Guilty as charged!” He chuckles, his accent prominent yet his English fluent.
“State your price?” I question, prepared to pay millions if it meant getting Tessa back.
“I want you to kill Dimitri… for I can’t!” Kion suddenly turns serious, his tone growing icy as he allows himself to step in to his Alpha title fully for the first
time.
He wants me to kill Dimitri? I had already planned on… but why?
“Why haven’t you killed him yet yourself?” I cock my head curiously, knowing there was more to this story than what he was letting on.
“He is my brother.” He states bluntly, catching me off guard, as my eyes widen and I straighten up.
F**k…
“Your brother is Dimitri?!” I fume, as Kion waves me off nonchalantly.
“Don’t get upset! We hate each other! I can’t kill him because our father will never let me forget it! Dimitri has also tried to have me killed already, but it didn’t work.” Kion shrugs, as I shake my head in disbelief.
He’s Dimitri’s damn brother! Luckily they don’t get along it seems or I would have been screwed the second we stepped off the jet!
I felt a surge of relief at his words, a glimmer of hope breaking through the darkness that had clouded my mind since their disappearance,
“Deal. Where do I sign?” I announce, causing a wide spread grin to form across his face at my words.
With that, I took the pen to paper and made the first key step in getting Tessa back…
It was only a matter of time now.
