Chapter 91
Kane’s POV
ล
Dimitri writhed around on the ground beneath me, his once–fortified form reduced only to twitching limbs and shallow, wet breaths.
His chest heaved, ribs shifting oddly beneath his skin- broken in at least two places, judging by the way he awkwardly moved.
But I didn’t step away.
Not yet.
I stood tall above him, my wolf form snarling low, teeth bared. Just in case he was attempting to play the dying wolf – which I wouldn’t
put past him amongst the other tricks he had already pulled…
His eyes fluttered, dazed and bloodshot. His tongue lolled out to one side, a thick strand of drool trailing into the snow as he attempted
to still growl lowly at me from below.
As if the bastard could be the slightest bit intimidating in this state?!
I turned slightly, ears swiveling toward the distant crunch of paws thudding through the frosted forest.
Kion didn’t take long to catch up to us.
His fur was darkened and from what I could already see, was also going bald at some spots where the silver had hit him the worst.
A beat later, Viktor emerged from the trees too as I was glad to see they had both made it out the other side of the petty acid attack.
Their wolfs looked exhausted now, Kion’s limping ever so slightly as he slowed in his runs. But his eyes were still just as sharp, trained on Dimitri with the kind of rage only a brother could hold after years of loss and betrayal.
–
He didn’t shift, and said nothing just moved closer to us, as I stepped back to give him his place here on the battlefield.
Dimitri didn’t even lift his head, only continued to growl and snarl whenever he could muster it.
I immediately shifted back, lifting a hand up to my blood smeared face – feeling a deep slice that ran from down by my mouth, right up past my brow bone..
That damn rat had gotten only centimetres from gouging out my eye! In the heat of the moment I barely felt it, but I sure as hell felt it
now!
But I wouldn’t show them that… I refused to look weak.

“SHIFT!” I looked down at Dimitri from afar and demanded, now pissed off all over again, and he had no choice but to comply this time, knowing that he was already on the path out…
Staying in his wolf form would only waste his energy faster – he knew that for himself.
Once the prolonged shift took place, his body struggling to contort as it usually would, he eventually lay bare in his human form, body twisted up and covered in blood, Kion too shifted to stand before him, scoffing at how weak he now looked at his feet.
I couldn’t believe that only hours ago, this very same man had nearly every Russian pack eating out of the palm of his hand, and now? He was a trembling mess left at our disposal.
“Thank you, Alpha.” Kion turned to nod at me respectfully for what I had done – ensuring Dimitri hadn’t slipped out from right under our
noses.
“He’s all yours.” I nodded back, sharing my respect as he inhaled a steady breath and squared out his shoulders.
Each of us now surrounded him like demons from his past, coming to collect him on judgement day… to drag him straight down to hell where he belonged to rot for all eternity…
“You killed your own father, and spent years hiding behind his power,” Kion began, his voice gravelly but calm. “You trafficked women and kept most of them to yourself as though they were properties you had acquired over the years. You tortured them. Impregnated them. You carved up innocent lives like they were nothing to you, Dimitri.” Kion ground out the lecture, and Dimitri only glared fiercely up at him.
“And still,” Kion quickly continued, “today you just ran off like a coward – because deep down, that’s all you are.”
He forced himself in to a sitting position, using a log for support, as Viktor and myself remained alert – ready to catch him if he would attempt any sudden movements – but he never did.
He couldn’t.
“I told you months ago, that I’d be the one to end you. I told you this would come. You thought dangling women as carrots to other men would protect you? Do you know how many wolfs you’ve pissed off? How many of them have had their mates stolen from them? How many of them would die for the chance to snap your fucking neck themselves? You’ve messed up, brother, and I won’t let you live to do this ever again!” Kion spits out, sheer venom taking over his tongue.
“Rot in hell!” Dimitri ground the words out, being sure to send me a wicked look too – still pissed at me for catching him so quick before he could escape.
“I’ll meet you there!” Kion sniggered, before in one fluid motion, he manoeuvred around him – head locked tightly in his arm and
hands…
He didn’t want to shift to do this…
He wanted to fully feel the kill…

SNAP.
The black wolf fell limp – dead.
Then nothing.
No more snarls. No more hate. No more war.
Just stillness in the air.
Kion stood up from him slowly, his face blank as though he hadn’t just killed his own brother seconds before.
Viktor turned his back. His shoulders trembled slightly, but he didn’t say a word.
And I…
I eventually exhaled a steady breath.
Not in relief.
But in finality.
It was finally fucking done.
Vengeance had taken place, and I was grateful enough to witness it.
The Russian demon was gone.
I glanced up at the fading night sky- dawn creeping in now through the tops of the trees.
“Thanks for leaving him to me, Kane, you kept your word.” Kion approaches me, hand finding my shoulder in a gentle squeeze before releasing me soon after.
I nodded, knowing it was only fair, despite being desperate to end him for myself at numerous points, I knew this wasn’t my trophy to
take…
I quickly thought of Tessa…
Of her face the last time I saw it…
Of her eyes, filled with complete worry that she would be lost from me again…
And suddenly, all I wanted was to get back to her.

“Come on,” I said hoarsely, turning to the others. “I have my human to go home to!” I state, before forcing myself to shift back in to my
wold form.

“I want his body to be taken back to my pack!” Kion stated his plan, as I nodded my large wolf head in understanding.
“We will stay here, Kane, you go to Seth and see if he has made contact with anyone yet to pick us up.” Viktor offers to hang back, as I don’t waste a beat and take off running…
There was nothing I wanted more than to hold Tessa in my arms, and to tell her how much I fucking love her…
She was my human.
Mine.
