The vision makes my head spin. I shake my head, trying to figure out what is happening, but I already know. This is it. The dream that had been haunting my sleep from the moment she found out what we were. The images play in my head over and over.
“Sophia,” I can’t help the possessive growl that comes out of me, but she doesn’t notice. She doesn’t even look in my direction.
Her eyes are intent on him as he struggles out of my guard’s arms. Santiago shoves him and starts to move towards her. She never flinches or even tries to move away. I watch as my mate looks at the man who humiliated her in a way she’s never looked at me.
“I’m sorry,” he says, dropping to his knees in front of her.
He takes her hand, bowing his head. She’s frozen where she stands. I never thought I’d see it. Up until now, it was just a dream, and in that dream, I lost everything I’ve ever wanted and needed. Panic begins to boil in my chest at the very thought of him taking her away from here. This is her home, and he lost the right to stand in front of her the way he is now the moment he chose another woman as his bride.
Before I can take a step forward, Sophia rips her hand out of his. Her expression turns from shocked to disgusted as she stares down at him. I know that look of contempt all too well. She had just looked at me that way when we were inside. I stand my ground to watch what she’s going to do.
“What the hell are you doing here, Santiago?” she asks calmly.
“I came to take you home,” he says with the kind of confidence that makes me want to take his head right off his shoulders. He stands, towering over her. “You don’t belong here. You know that. You belong to me.”
“My lady,” two of our guards step forward.
“Escort Alpha Santiago back to his home. Shoot him if he tries to come back,” she says coldly.
I move before he can reach her. My hand grips his wrist as it hovers right over her throat. His eyes snap to me. He attempts to pull out of my grip as the two of us stare at one another wordlessly. I let him go when he tries to pull his arm back once again. He doesn’t expect it and stumbles, almost falling on his ass.
“Sophia,” he growls.
“Are you okay?” I ask her, taking the keys out of her hand.
“I’m fine,” she says quietly and lowers her head. “I just want to go home.”
“She’s my mate,” Santiago growls. He attempts to step forward. His arm shoots out, and his finger tips graze her sleeve. My fist connects with his mouth. He falls back, hitting the floor. “You have no right to keep her from me.”
“I have every right,” I scoff. “She doesn’t belong to you. Get the fuck out of my territory before she decides she wants your head. And believe me when I say that I don’t make a habit of denying Sophia what she wants once she asks. Your Queen has spoken. What the fuck are you all doing standing around?”
His eyes move from me to Sophia with understanding. The guards take hold of him and lift him up to his feet. I don’t miss the hurt in his eyes. They turn from possessive to rage in a matter of seconds.
“So, this is how you want to play this?” he shouts at her accusingly. “I never believed them. I never believed you were a

[ attempt to turn around to face him, but she takes my hand. I look down at Sophia to see her smile. Her eyes gleam with the ccusation. It’s ironic that he’s accusing her of the very thing his wife married him for
The only power–hungry bitch here is you, she says calmly. “A wise king once said that if you have to remind people of your position, you never had power to begin with. I gave you that power, and it was so easy to take it away.
1 didn’t believe when they told me you were going feral, but I can see the deterioration in your eyes. You started to kill Kellen the moment you accepted Poppy as your wife, and it makes me happy that he’s now slowly driving you insane. He’s ilways been a good boy. It’s a shame that he ended up the spirit of someone as worthless as you.”

ince had been.
I’ll be back for you, Sophia,” he growls. “You belong to me. The mating laws demand that I be given what I am owed”
she doesn’t spare him another glance as she turns away to get to her car. I walk her around to the passenger seat. She gets in vithout protest. I go around and get into the driver’s seat. The car is small, and her scent overwhelms everything in here. My enses come alive with her as they always do.
How do I tell her that I don’t think that breaking the oath worked? Her touch still burns me. That I’ve been trying to keep my listance because when she’s close, I feel like my skin is being peeled away layer by layer.
had hoped to see Clarity to ask her to forgive me for breaking the oath I’d made for her. To explain that I never meant for his to happen, but that I’d fallen in love with Sophia without even knowing it. It had not just been the call of our bond. It’s o much more than that.
When we get to the Hevig Estate, I know she’s ready to bolt for that door. I turn the car off and go around to the passenger’s ide to prevent her from opening the door herself. She’s just sitting there looking down at her hands. She lets out a heavy igh as she gets out.

I promise that I didn’t ask him to come here. I don’t want him anywhere near me,” she rushes out as tears slip from her
yes.
The fear I felt when I saw them standing together overrides the pain I feel when we touch. I reach out to cup her face so she nows that I would never think that of her. It never even crossed my mind. My concern has always been what she would do when she saw him on his knees begging to take him back.
I never once questioned that, I reassure her. “I’m sorry for the way I have been acting. The last thing I want to do is hurt
you.”
She stares at me for a moment, and without another word, she goes inside. Everything in me screams to go after her, but even if I did, what would I say to her? I never seem to be able to find the right words when it comes to Sophia, and even if t could, she’s not much for words. She finds meaning in actions and gestures.
“My King, her personal guard comes out of the shadows.
“Make sure nothing disturbs her, I say, unzipping my jacket to prepare to shift.
“If I may, sir,” she lowers her gaze. “You should stay. Even if it’s not with her. She only lets her guard down when you’re here
