Ragnar is very upset about Anastasia coming here. He was probably supposed to be doing something important, but I don he’s going back unless I go with him. He is giving the security team an earful, but in their defence, Ana isn’t on the list of people they should be looking out for. I’ve never felt as though I were in danger around her. “Ragnar,” I call out. His body visibly tenses up, and the guards take a few steps back when he turns to face me. ‘She’s gone!
He dismisses the guards and comes over to me, his eyes scan my body for any sign of discomfort. Before I can tell him I’r fine, he’s pulling me up into his arms. I wrap my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist because I know this isn’t a battle I can win anymore.
He uses his free hand to put my things into my backpack before putting it over his shoulder. He orders my car to be brou out as we head inside. He takes me into his room and sets me down on his bed before he storms into the bathroom. I go over to the door and gently tap it.
“I’m okay,” I try to reassure him. Before I can knock again, he pulls the door open.
“What was she doing here? Did you invite her?” he demands.
“No, I didn’t. I’ve been doing my classwork all day as promised. She got here a little while ago and just wanted to talk.”
“About what?”
“Luna Romano’s father.”
That’s all I have to say, really. He takes a step back to breathe. I make my way over to his bed and lie down, needing to take break before we leave to do whatever it is he wants to do. I didn’t ask what he was doing when he left.
“You can’t be this reckless when you’re on your own,” he says calmly and sits by my feet.
“I wasn’t being reckless. I was home this whole time. I don’t understand how this is my fault.”
“You’re going to meet with her, right?”
“She asked me to, and honestly, I am considering it. You want this alliance, and now she’s going to owe us a favor.

“You knew what I wanted from the beginning. From the very start. Long before I even knew we were mated. You agreed to all of this. We have a signed contract and everything. Why is this a problem all of a sudden?”
“It’s not sudden,” he snaps and stands up. “I can’t lose you, Sophia Every time I take my eyes off you, I feel like there’s a new danger coming at you because that’s what she is. “No, no, don’t turn this shit around on me,” he growls and grabs my ankle to pull me to him. He lowers his body over mine enough for me to feel some of his weight. “You can’t worm your way out of this. You’re mine, and I need you to be safe.”
“This is going to be a constant battle, isn’t it?” I push him back, and he lets me. He tucks his arm under me and falls onto the
