Once everything had settled and the marks on my skin began tode, the Lycan Queen went back to whatever it is she does I’ve been researching the schools and medical opportunities her Lycan medicine is a lot different from Werewolf, but it so much more advanced than what I was learning

Today is an official checkup, and I get to go on my own. It’s raing outside, and I don’t know why, but I feel as if something bad is coming. I drive to the address Ivar gave me. I had insisted on going on my own since I am feeling better. He agreed after I promised to let him know if anything was still wrong

I expected a building like the ones in the City, but I’m pleasantly surprised that it’s an old home repurposed for this, and I kind of love the idea. I park up front and make my way inside. There are a couple of others in the waiting room, and they all smile at me politely before going about their business

Can I help you?the woman at reception asks

I have an appointment. Sophia Helvig, I inform her. Her eyes sparkle at the sound of my name..

Lady Helvig. It’s an honor to meet you finally,” she smiles as she looks up my name in her computer. Can you fill these out for me as best you can?She hands me a clipboard and a baby blue pen covered with rhinestones. The doctor will call you as soon as she can

Thank you,” I bow politely and take a seat, holding the clipboard

The questions are interesting. I’m guessing it’s aimed at Lycans, but I find myself answering each one without a problem. By the time the doctor comes out and calls my name, I’ve finished the questions

Sophia,” a woman about my height, greets me. Tm Doctor Bethany Grant. I will be your official caretaker from now on. How are you feeling today?”

Um,” I say, unsure

Okay,” she smiles. Is this your form? Let’s take a look”

I hand her the clipboard and then take the pen back to the girl at reception. She smiles at me just as brightly as she did the first time. It’s odd for me because no one has ever looked at me that way. Especially not a stranger I just met

Everyone is very friendly.I say when we walk past a couple of amination rooms, and the nurses all wave at me and come to the doorways to get a better look. She escorts me into one of the rooms and shuts the door behind us

We don’t get very many wolves here, and your grandmother bosts about you a lot. She’s very proud of everything you’ve accomplished on your own. Especially at such a young age, she answers as she flips through my paperwork. I notice that she pauses a lot and looks up at me, a bit confused, before continuing Why don’t you sit up on the table, and I’ll maish reviewing your transcripts?”

Warmth spreads through me at the idea of my grandmother boasting about everything I’ve done. She’s never given me any indication of pride or even a compliment in any of the awards of medals I’ve won over the years, but then again. I’ve never really opened up to her about much. I want to talk to her. I have so many things I want to ask her. And I want to apologize for the way I behaved the last time she called. She hasn’t called the since then, but Ivar reassured me they be back any day

I am going to run some lab work, just to make sure everything good, she says and hands me a little baggy with a pee cup in it. I take it. The restroom is outside, first door on yanir right

Thank you, I say and lead out

Once I’m finished, I go back to the run to see her look at my as if there were something wrong. I place the cup in baggy on the tray and take a couple of napkins to finish drying ty hands. I sit back down at the table and give her a moment. She takes a deep laeath and spans around to look at in

Chapter 17

Is there something wrong? 1 ask

Would you say that this is an average wolf questionnaire?she asks, holding up the clipboard I had filled out

* 42%

Not at all. I’ve never seen one like it, and I’ve volunteered at a couple of different offices. Ive also worked at the general hospital back in Artume City”

“I see she says and takes a deep breath. We’ll get into this later want to start with doing a thorough examination before we get into the fun details. How does that sound?”

Great, Inod

Perfect, she smiles, and begins asking me questions about my health before the rejection

I answer her as best as I can as she takes my temperature, checks my ears, and the inside of my mouth. She measures me and takes my weight. Then she takes a couple of blood samples and excuses herself, taking the blood tubes and the pee cup with her

ry right

That will take a bit for us to get the results back. Now, I have some questions that might sound a bit off. You have every to decline answering them. These are primarily for myself because you are quite the anomaly. Everything discussed here will be kept between us. You have my oath as your doctor, she raises her right hand and places it over her heart

Okay,I smile, loving her enthusiasm

Like Lady Selene, she is unnaturally gorgeous. Her ebony skin slammers with a silver tone under the fluorescent lights. Her eyes are an icecold baby blue. I’ve never seen anything more beautiful. Her hair is long, black, with silver tones. Im not sure whether the silver locks are extensions, since they look so natural on her. Despite the lab coat, I can see the impressive figure she has

I hope you don’t mind me saying I’m very sorry about the rejection, Lady Helvig. I’ve been reading about Alphas and listening to some very energetic podcasts regarding your situation. I find it disgusting that there aren’t stricter rules to protect wolves of your rank. Especially because, like in my species, you all seem to be a bit of a rarity”

Wolves pride themselves on strength. So those of us who can’t shift are dismissed as the weakest of our kind.I explain to her because Lady Selene and Ivar also think it’s weird

Oh, but there is so much more to the anatomy of an omega than there is an average wolf. It’s always been clear to me that power is the objective with your kind, but the power of an omega is subliminal. It lies in the genetic code. They can be so much more than a wolf born to any rank, and not just that. They have the potential to be other”

Other?I ask

Yes, love. Other. If you were to be chosen by any other race, you have the potential to inherit power from them. Say you find a Lycan mate of beta or alpha rank, you can become as powerful as your chosen mate. Whereas a normal woll risks dying in the process. The same would go if you were to choose a vampire or an incubus. Being born omega is not a weakness. It’s evolutionary progress. You’ll learn that in our schools here”
