The Alpha King looks over at me with a glare before taking a look at what his beta has provided him with As he’s scrolling through the information, Carter comes in with a group of his guards. He stops right beside me, staring at the Alpha King
“What the hell are you doing here?” he asks with a smirk.
“I came to see what was taking so long,” the Alpha King glances at him, but then looks down at the tablet as if it’s insulted him and his entire bloodline. “What the fuck is this?”
“My Queen asked me to look into the Romanos, and that’s what Ive been doing. My evaluation is almost complete, Carter tucks his hands behind his back and looks down at me. He gives que a head nod as a greeting. “Didn’t think you’d be back here this quick, Helvig”
“It wasn’t my choice, I admit and look up at Ragnar.
“Hey, man. Good to see you,” Carter smiles.
“Carter,” Ragnar gives him a nod in acknowledgment of the greeting, but his eyes are still on me. I shift uncomfortably, not knowing what to do with myself.
“Where were you?” the Alpha King demands.
“Miss Helvig has been very helpful in my investigation, so I thought I’d return the favor by retrieving her university credits. but I did not have such luck” he says, looking down at me sympathetically. There is no record of her available at the university anymore.”
“What? Why?”
“Alpha Santiago Romano ordered the district to remove her and any records of her ever attending if she were to try and transfer out. I have a hell of a profile on all of them if you’re interested in lending an ear.”
“I am very interested” Ragnar looks over at the Alpha King. “If you don’t mind.”
“Make your case,” he agrees, and holds the tablet out to the beta male beside him for her to take.
“Who would you like me to start with?” Carter asks, looking over at the Romanos.
Luna Romano, step forward,” the Alpha King orders.

“Sophia,” Ragnar calls me. I look up at him, feeling his command vibrate through my entire body. “Come.”
Luna Romano and Poppy both growl at me as I make my way towards the Lycan King. He grabs my arm and pulls me to him. He turns me around and pulls me down onto the armrest of the chair. I don’t dare move as he shifts to make himself more comfortable. The implication from earlier becomes even more real in their eyes. They’re all staring at me as if I’m doing something wrong, and in all honesty, I feel like I am.

Saying that out loud now makes me realize that I had brushed past a whole lot of red flags, thinking it was just courtesy for the alpha. I look down at my hands, seeing what it actually was.
