His face fell and he walked to me, resting his hands on the counter and leaning down, looking at me as he whispered, “I’m really sorry about that day.”
I looked away from him. “It wasn’t your fault. I don’t think it was Kross’s fault either. He tried to warn me, told me it was reckless.”
“True, but he could have tried harder.”

“How’s he anyway?” I asked, looking back at him. “Kross? And Kade?”
His expression darkened and he scowled, pushing away from the counter and going back to the cooker.
“What was that look for?” I asked, standing and going to him. He kept silent. “Now you’re not answering?”
“It’s nothing,” he muttered.
“No, it’s not nothing. I only asked about them and your mood darkened. Why, Axel?”
“Because I’m jealous!” he answered, turning to face me. He walked towards me, grabbed me by the waist, and pushed me back until my ass hit the counter, his chest heaving, his nostrils flared. “I’m jealous, okay?
