She rested her head back on my chest. “You don’t have to like everything.”
We slept after that and as early as nine, she left. Christopher was called to drive her, and as they walked to the car, I gave him a look. He understood without me saying anything and nodded.
“Axel.” I turned to my brothers. “A word.”
We walked back inside the mansion and as we got seated, Kross didn’t waste any time getting straight to the point.
“The pills have lost all effectiveness.”
I sat forward, my back straight. “All?”
“All,” Kade answered in a sigh. “I just had my rut last week, and it did nothing when I took it.”
“So what did you do then?”
He said nothing, his jaw clenched. And that silence was the answer I needed. He had to go through that without any relief.

“We’re all thinking the same thing?” I said, looking between them and they nodded. “But why will he do that?”
“Why does Silas do anything?” Kross grumbled.
