Barely thirty minutes later, the sound of a helicopter’s blades thundered above us.

The rush of wind that came with its descent whipped at our clothes as we stepped out of the car, stinging my eyes, but I didn’t flinch.
My boil was boiling from the thought of seeing Silas again. I didn’t know what I would do if I set my eyes on him. Punch his guts? Ruin his face?
You would say I shouldn’t do that to my father, but that bastard has never been a father. He was merely an instructor, telling us this was how it wanted it to be, that was how it should be done.
I’ve never felt that fatherly bond with him so it wouldn’t be a struggle to slam my fist into his face. He was practically a stranger to me.
The three of us moved quickly towards the helicopter, ducking low as the blade beat the air. The pilot leaned out, signalling us, his voice lost in the deafening roar.
As soon as we went in, the doors slammed shut, the noise dulling, replaced by the hums of the engine and the pilot’s steady voice over the comms.
“Island coordinated locked in. You’ll be there in under two hours.”
Two hours. Two hours before I could finally put my hands on Silas, before I could get back what’s finally
mine.
Six months. Six months and I’ve dreamt and dreamt of her, thinking about the day when I could finally see her again, hold her, breathe her in, and punish her for leaving me.
She would be punished, alright. For thinking she could just leave without asking what I was.
My body buzzed with anticipation. I just needed to see her again so life could flow back into me. I needed her to be able to breathe again.
It was nightfall when the island finally came into view, the helicopter disturbing the waters below, and right in the center of the vast water, was an island sitting peacefully, with a large villa there, and even from the heights of where we were, I could see the lights turned on.
As if it knew what was happening, my wolf became restless beneath my skin, crawling to be out, but I forced it down. This was for me; nothing was taking it away from me,
The helicopter landed on the beach, directly in front of the villa, and with my sharpened vision, I saw a figure standing in the entrance of the house.
“Let me handle this, Axel,” Kross said, stepping forward and taking the lead.
I nodded, but my fists were clenched by my sides, my claws already out and digging into my flesh.
As we got closer, Silas‘ figure became clear, his face coming into view, and he just looked… calm. It took everything in me not to pounce on him, but I trusted Kross and he was going to handle this.

“Welcome, boys,” Silas said as we stopped in front of him, his hands in his pockets.

“You anticipated this, didn’t you?” Kade said, his voice and expression flat. It seems I was the only one vibrating with anger.
“Of course I did,” Silas answered. “I was getting bored with this villa.”
“So why bother?” Kross asked. “Too cowardly to face us?”
Silas‘ jaw clenched, but he relaxed it, removing his hand from his pocket and pointing inside the house. “Come on in. It’s late already.”
And not once did the bastard look at me.
It was bright inside, so bright, my eyes began burning. And Vera was the first I saw when I stepped inside. She said nothing, her eyes fixed on me.
I stared back at her. “Enjoying your vacation?” I taunted, my eyes hard on her.
She swallowed, not looking so confident. “Stay away from her, Axel. Please.”
“You’ll have to drive a knife through my heart first,” I answered, brushing past her. “Don’t act like a mother now. It doesn’t suit you.”
I didn’t need to look back to see that I’ve hit a nerve. Silas‘ fists clenched, and since he was walking ahead of us, all three of us saw it.
This might actually be interesting.
He led us into a lounge room, and this place was a little darker with drinks already set. Gabriel was leaving the room as we stepped in, bowing without meeting any eyes.
“We’ll go straight to the point, Father,” Kross said as we were seated. “Where’s Rosette?”
But Silas wouldn’t be Silas if he answered straight away. He made a show of pouring himself a drink and sipping slowly, before he began talking, but he didn’t even answer the question; he finally looked at me.
“You still haven’t given up?” he asked, his eyes hard on mine.
I met his gaze, mine just as hard. “Not until I have my woman back.”

“Your woman,” he scoffed. “How pathetic.” He placed his glass down. “I underestimated how much about this human. I had thought you would have moved on by now and jumped to the next woman with a
warm hole.”
My expression didn’t change; I wasn’t going to let him bait me. “That was when you went wrong; underestimating how strong my feelings were.”
“Yes,” he agreed, a muscle in his jaw ticking. “Yes, that was where I went wrong.”
“Ready to answer the question?” Kade asked, resting against the sofa, his arms and legs crossed.
