Chapter 20
Hyman tugged at Alejandro’s sleeve.”Dad, I remember… I remember Mom has hemophobia.”
Alejandro’s frown softened. He started toward Concetta.
But Lynne’s voice cut through.”Dad, Sharon’s fainted!”
Alejandro froze, then rushed to Sharon’s side.
Hospital staff and police arrived swiftly, resolving the crisis.
Later, Concetta learned the woman’s story from the hospital staff.

She’d discovered her husband’s affair with her best friend while nine months pregnant, and her eldest daughter had helped her father cover it
The betrayal triggered a miscarriage, shattering her mental stability, and something had set her off that day.
Concetta bit her lip. “I’m not pressing charges. She hurt that gentleman, so you should ask him first.”
“That gentleman’s already left,” the nurse replied. “He told us to ask your opinion.”
Concetta was surprised, her gaze drifting to a slip of paper on the bedside table.”Treat her for now,” she said softly, lost in thought.
The man who saved her had left, but he’d given her his contact information.
Concetta saved the number in her phone.
As she opened her messages, she saw one from Alejandro.
Alejandro:”Let’s forget about the pajamas.”
Her lips twitched, and she deleted the message without a second thought.
Gossip sites exploded with headlines.
“Sharon Named Permanent Ambassador for the Calderon Group”
“The CEO of the Calderon Group Splurges to Launch Sharon’s Workplace Reality Show”
“Sharon’s Emergency! Alejandro Called Dozens of Top Doctors Overnight.”
A video interview with Alejandro surfaced.
“I’ll make it up to her a thousandfold,” he said, his voice resolute.
Concetta’s eyes flickered with emotion as the video ended.
After the incident, Alejandro had whisked Sharon to another hospital, terrified of any further harm.
The Calderon Group had never had a celebrity ambassador, yet he signed Sharon for a lifetime deal.
And a workplace reality show? Alejandro was notoriously strict about his company’s operations, but for Sharon, he’d opened the doors.
Concetta’s heart ached as she thought, “This is the first time Alejandro’s gone all out for someone.
“Sharon’s truly the one he cherishes.”
Her smile turned cold.
She thought bitterly, “Looks like Alejandro and Sharon are headed for something serious.
“Thankfully, I’m waking up from this dream just in time.”
Concetta exhaled, a weight lifting.
She pulled the divorce papers from the drawer and signed her name without hesitation.
The next day, she arranged for a courier to deliver the papers to their marital home.
She believed Alejandro would understand when he saw them.
This marriage, wrong from the start, was finally over.

She called the number of the man who saved her, and his secretary picked up.
Learning he’d been transferred to Baptist Health South Miami Hospital, she decided to visit.
Before going, Concetta prepared a thermos of homemade soup.
She grabbed a neatly pressed suit jacket from the rack and headed out.
At Baptist Health South Miami Hospital, Sharon was napping after lunch.
Hyman and Lynne were curled up in the ward, fast asleep.
Alejandro, finishing a cigarette on the balcony, stared into the room.
His secretary’s voice came through the phone, reporting on the knife-wielding woman. Alejandro stubbed out the cigarette, his voice cold.”She may not press charges, but I will.”
His mind flashed to Concetta, cornered and helpless.
His eyes darkened.”Also, arrange for her transfer to Baptist Health South Miami Hospital.”
His secretary, Darryl Nicholson, hesitated.”Mr. Calderon, you mean… who, exactly?”
“Concetta,” Alejandro clarified.
