Colt’s POV
i was green with envy. I couldn’t believe my eyes.Kate was playing with Sam, and to make matters worse,she was enjoying his silliness and attention,
The silly jokes he made had her laughing out of her stomach, and her eyes sparkled in amusement.
What does Sam have that I don’t?
“A sense of humor, Ray mused,listening in on my thoughts.“Ile is fun and spontaneous! You are not!”
Was that her taste in men–the kind that doesn’t take any responsibility for their actions and acts like a child?
I internally sighed.
Ray was right.I couldn’t even tell a joke without messing it up.
I wouldn’t be able to compete in that category.
“True, “Ray continued,rubbing my lack of humor in my face,“your jokes suck,but look at the bright side;you are still Alpha,and Kate is attractive to you.”
I rolled my eyes, shaking my head.
“As if that would help!“I said,bitterly.

‘I am telling you, you have nothing to worry about.Kate likes you the way you are, he mused.
“If you say so,“I answered half–heartedly.
I followed Kate and Sam down to the infirmary,and with every step, it was like my heart became colder and colder by the second.I was giving up hope.
Sam won!
I had better pack up my last dignity and leave.
Kate turned to Sam,giving him her signature smile that broke the ice around my heart,and he let go of her wheelchair,
She pushed herself toward the rogue’s hospital room down the hallway.
“I told you she liked me, “Sam said the second he reached me.He looked even more energized than usual.
‘I am happy for you,“I mumbled under my breath.
Sam gave me a confused look,opened and closed his mouth, but decided to say nothing.
“Where is Grey?‘ he asked after a moment of silence.
‘I’m not sure, “I said. “He was here just a moment ago.”

Should I go and see where he is? Sam asked.
Rather not, I told him. He is already pissed at you.”
“For what? He asked,annoyed. For having fun with our mate.”
“She is not our mate, Sam!“I argued.
“She will be, “he said,looking at me with so much certainty in his eyes.“I know she will.”
“Sam…”
“Colt,I know what you are about to say.“Sam cut me off.“But it’s meant to be all three of us. She will…”
“What do you know?“Grey roared, disturbing our surroundings. The nurse’s gaze snapped in our direction and gave us a disappointing glare.
“Take it outside, ‘I said, and I gave the nurse an apologetic nod.
I pushed my two brothers out the double doors and down the hallway, away from the entrance of the infirmary.
Sam immediately became distracted,looking toward the infirmary doors. He didn’t want to be far from Kate,and neither did I,but we had better settle this before things got out of hand.The mate bond has already started to f*ck with our minds.
Grey was huffing and puffing like a mad wolf next to me, and I dragged my attention to him.Something was eating at him,and he refused to tell any of
us what it was.
He even refused to tell me what he saw in his vision.
“Grey,calm the f*ck down!“I ordered.
“Why should I?“He yelled at me.“Our brother is trying to take her from me.”
“Well, that was the agreement, “I commented sourly.“That we will battle it out between us.Why are you acting…?”
“I am not!“Sam growled back,cutting me off and ignoring what I just tried to say.
“Do too, Grey growled. He was acting more and more out of character, like a bloody five–year–old.What the f*ck was going on with him?
“Grey,” I said,and his head snapped toward me.“We did have an agreement.Whoever she chooses…”
“She is not going to choose!“Sam said, and both of us went quiet.
“Are you telling me she has already decided?“Grey jumped forward,grabbing Sam by his shirt.
‘Grey,get your hands on Sam!“I growled and pulled him aside.
Sam looked at Grey and straightened his clothes.
“What the f*ck is wrong with you?“Sam spat.“This is not you!Grow up and act normal again.”

“I will not let you take her from me! Grey grumbled his challenge and fought against my hold.His face had turned dark,and he extracted his claws.
“I am not taking anyone from you! Sam yelled back at Grey,taking a step away and looking at our brother with disgust.
“What are you saying? I growled at Sam. Do you know what she has decided?”
If you two are done trying to tip me apart, will tell you.Until then,go f*ck yourself!”
Sam turned around and headed toward the infirmary, and I let go of Grey,who, for obvious reasons,cut Sam off again at the infirmary door.
“I will not let you near her until you tell me!‘Grey sneered.Anger was visible on his face, and his eyes had turned black,indicating that his wolf was on
the surface.
“Try me, Sam taunted. “You might be two minutes older than me,but I am still the strongest brother among the three of us.”
Grey flinched, yet didn’t move out of Sam’s way.
We always wondered how Sam was capable of being physically stronger than us without even lifting a finger at the gym.
“Sam,“I said,sighing.“Just tell us already!”
Sam lazily turned his gaze toward me,keeping Grey in sight. He didn’t trust Grey while he was freaking out,and neither did I.Which was a very bad thing between us.We always trusted one another and stuck together, even when Sam annoyed the living sh*t out of us.
“Get out of my face,Grey,” Sam growled, getting angry.
Sam basically never got angry;I can only recall five times I ever saw him lose his temper,and I seriously didn’t want to see that now.He will bring this packhouse down in just a few minutes.
“Grey,move your ass aside!“I ordered.
Grey glared at me and did as I said.
“Sam,explain!“The authority was thick in the air,and Sam lifted an eyebrow. He could easily ignore my orders and commands because I hadn’t taken the
Alpha title yet.
Sam sighed,turned around,walked back toward me, and stopped.
I turned toward Grey,lifting an eyebrow.
“Are you coming or staying?“I asked.
Grey mumbled something unknown under his breath and walked closer, staying away from Sam.
“So?‘l said,looking at Sam.“What are you hiding?”
“I am not hiding anything,“he said. It’s just that I can read Kate.”
“What do you mean you can read, Kate?“Gray growled under his breath.
“Ever since she touched me, he said,lifting his hands in the air defensively, “I can hear her emotions.”

I looked at Sam like he had grown two heads in a matter of seconds.
Explain! I ordered.
She is an open book! He said, ‘I can hear her emotions when she is sad,happy,or worried. And at this moment she is worried because she needs to
choose and she doesn’t want to.”
“How do you know this?‘I asked,cutting Grey off.
*Because she looked relieved when I told her she shouldn’t worry, Sam explained.
*Relieve about what?“Grey chirped,walking closer.
