Chapter 41 She Is Innocent
Leaving the bar, Charles drove Florence back to her home.
“Mr. Foster, thank you for the ride,” Florence smiled as she stood at her doorstep.
Charles watched her radiant smile in the moonlight, strange emotions swirling in his eyes before quickly being masked.
“Goodnight,” he said after a moment, his voice smooth and low.
Florence watched his car disappear into the night before turning to go back inside.
Lying in bed, sleep eluded her, but she felt a sense of peace she hadn’t experienced in a long time.
She raised her hand to cover her eyes, which were suddenly brimming with tears. Yet, despite the tears, a smile played on her lips.
“It’s such a relief that Chloe is going to be alright this time.”
Florence woke up after barely two hours of sleep, downed a cup of coffee to clear her head, and drove straight to the branch office.
She made a beeline for Isabella’s old office.
The door was open, and Isabella was slowly packing her things

Albert stood beside her, murmuring sweet nothings. “Just hold on for a while, honey. The position of chief designer will be yours again soon.”
“Albert, I believe you. Don’t worry about me. It’s just a temporary setback. I’ll be fine.”
Isabella’s voice was thick with emotion, a picture of wounded
innocence.
Florence stood at the doorway for a moment, watching the two lovebirds put on their nauseating display. Then, as if just arriving, she rapped her knuckles against the doorframe.
“Looks like I came at a bad time,” she said, her voice dripping
with sarcasm.
Albert’s back stiffened at the sound of her voice. He quickly turned around.
“Why are you here so early?”
Florence snorted, “I think you’re more worried that I’d catch you and Isabella in the act.
Albert frowned slightly, and Isabella, who was stal ng next to him with reddened eyes and tears threatening to spill, quickly jumped in. “Florence, don’t get the wrong idea. Albert just saw that I had a lot of stuff and was worried I wouldn’t be able to carry it all, so he offered to help.” 2/5

Florence listened to her words, which sounded like an explanation but were actually a boast, and just sneered. Then she said, “Did you go to Silver Bar last night?”
Isabella’s expression changed slightly. Before she could speak, Albert had already frowned and denied it on her behalf.
“Florence, don’t talk nonsense. How could she possibly go to a place like that?”
Florence gave a mocking laugh, then opened her phone, walked up to Albert, and showed him the surveillance footage of Isabella and Samuel entering the bar.
“Then may I ask, who is the woman in this footage?”
Albert had initially looked over with impatience, but in the next second, he was stunned.
He looked at Isabella in disbelief. “Why were you at a bar with another man?”
A flicker of panic flashed across Isabella’s eyes. Especially since Samuel hadn’t contacted her until this morning, she guessed that Samuel probably hadn’t succeeded last night and that something had gone wrong.

Seeing Albert looking at her with a puzzled and shocked expression, Isabella quickly adjusted her composu immediately explained to Albert, “I did go to the bar last night because the man in the surveillance footage is a childhood friend of my brother.

“Something happened to his family, and he was in a terrible mood. I’ve always thought of him as my little brother. He said he wanted to go to a bar for a while, and I couldn’t bear to see him so upset, so I went with him. But I don’t really like the bar scene, so after I saw that his mood had improved a bit, I left first.”
Albert was half–convinced, but the surveillance footage did indeed show Isabella leaving alone.
So, he frowned at Florence. “You had Isabella followed?”
Florence took back her phone, her voice icy. “Of course not. Last night, Chloe was kidnapped by her brother’s friend and taken to an abandoned factory. He tried to assault her. I followed them, and thankfully, we called the police in time and saved Chloe.
“That guy is at the police station right now. He’s not confessing, but I suspect Isabella put him up to it. He and Chloe have never even met before, but Chloe is my best friend. Now, do you understand why I showed you that surveillance footage?”
Albert was stunned.
Florence walked up to Isabella, whose face had drained of all color. “This time, there’s no evidence, but that doesn’t mean you’re innocent, Isabella. You’d better not cross me again, or I definitely won’t let you off the hook.”
Isabella hastily shook her head, putting on an innocent expression. “This has nothing to do with me. I didn’t know Samuel would do such a thing. I really don’t know anything.”

Then, she looked tearfully at Albert, causing him to waver once again.
“Florence, you need evidence for everything. Isabella isn’t that kind of malicious woman. It is just a coincidence. You can’t just accuse people without proof.”
Florence sneered, “I suggest you go to the jail and meet that Samuel. He’s never seen Isabella as a sister, and no one would take their sister to a bar.”
Albert’s expression immediately changed, and a flicker of panic flashed across Isabella’s eyes.
