Chapter 16 Make Vivienne Apologize in Three Days
At St. Avalon Hospital.
Eliza’s temperature was still high after half of the drip.
Trapped in the nightmare, Eliza broke out in sweat and clutched onto the sheet.
She shouted on and on, “Don’t take photos! Don’t! Help me, Sebastian!”
Sebastian felt tortured in his heart.
Jonathan asked, “What’s going on?”
Sebastian sat on the chair at the bedside and looked at Eliza lying on the bed. His throat was tight, and he could barely talk.
Jonathan watched Eliza grow up and was like a brother to her. He was also fond of her.
He asked Sebastian again, “I’m asking you. Why does she keep saying “Don’t take photos”?”
Sebastian’s heart sank when he thought of this.
He met Eliza at the age of fifteen. On that snowy day, she was abandoned on the street.
Grabbing a broken toy tightly, she trembled in thin clothes and looked around with helpless and fearful eyes.
Sebastian felt she was pitiful and brought her home for shelter.
Four years passed.
Sebastian had a car accident and needed to walk with a cane.
A few spoiled brats laughed at him being lame and imitated him walking.
Eliza stepped forward to defend him, but was pushed to the ground.
Corelynx Technologies earned its reputation in Northgale, but it wasn’t as good as other tech companies.
So, these boys didn’t fear revenge at all. When Eliza was left alone, they blocked her at the corner, tore up her clothes, and shot photos of her being naked.
She was traumatized ever since.
He swore that he would stand up for her no matter what.
Jonathan’s face sank, and he looked extremely solemn.
“Who did this?”
Sebastian answered. “They’ve been punished.”
After marrying Vivienne, Sebastian was in charge of management, while the research and development were handled by
Vivienne.
With the couple’s effort, Corelynx Technologies entered the list of the Fortune 500.
Behind Vivienne, he set those men up. Some had their company go bankrupt; others were taken to jail after breaking the law.
[onathan said, “Really? How about Vivienne?”
Sebastian looked at Eliza’s pale face with worried eyes and clenched his fists. “I won’t let it go.”
‘Sebastian, don’t be merciful to a woman. Leave this to me, and I’ll make her apologize in three days.”
Vivienne asked the rental agency for help.
Meanwhile, she was looking for a new job.
Her colleagues at the Corelynx R&D Center tried to find ways to help her without hurting his dignity.
The oldest engineer on the team said, “My friend keeps insisting that I find him a chip architect, and it has to be the best. Ms. Lancaster, could you kindly go meet him for me? That way he’ll stop pestering me.”
The youngest engineer said, “My supervisor has been pressuring me to change jobs lately, but my contract isn’t up yet, so I can’t leave. Ms. Lancaster, how about you go in my place?”
The round-faced female engineer said, “I’ve got a headhunting company that keeps calling me every day. It’s driving me crazy…”
Vivienne knew they managed to earn these chances for her.
She had to seize them.
But all the HRS treated her indifferently.
“I’m sorry, but we’ve got no open position now.”
“Our boss is away for business, and he’ll set up a new meeting with you.”
“Ms. Lancaster, there’s nothing I could do…”
Vivienne suspected that someone was pulling strings behind the scenes.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed in her bag.
It was a message from Celina’s driver Philip. He wanted to meet with her.
Philip delivered a few freshly washed clothes and some local food from Rivemont, all prepared by Celina.
Vivienne tried calling Celina twice to thank her, but both times the phone rang only once before being hung up.
That had never happened before.

She asked Philip, “What was Cece doing when you left?”
Philip stammered, “Maybe… Maybe she was chatting with Madam Whitford.”
Jonathan’s mother had been friends with Sebastian’s mother for almost thirty years. Neither of them was easy to deal with.
“How long has Madam Whitford been staying in Cece’s place?”
‘For three days.”
t
‘Just chatting? She wasn’t making things difficult for Cece?”
Vivienne stared at Philip intently, watching his expression for any sign of deception.
Philip didn’t dare meet her eyes the entire time.
‘Cece’s grandfather asked you to take good care of her,” Vivienne said sharply. “And you can’t even tell me the truth?”
Philip gave in immediately. “Mrs. Whitford told me not to say anything.”
‘Madam Whitford has been acting strange lately. She makes Mrs. Whitford get up at 4 a.m. every day to pray and prepare hree meals a day. In the mornings, Mrs. Whitford has to go shopping with her. In the afternoons, Mrs. Whitford has to serve ea to all her lady friends. And at night, Mrs. Whitford is ordered to work in the Prayer Room. She’s got no time for rest.”
Vivienne’s face remained calm, but inside she was fuming.
‘Jonathan’s just letting this happen?” she asked.
Jonathan had never been so good to Celina. But whenever his mother gave Celina a hard time, at least he would step out.
Philip replied, “He’s only been home once in the past three days and completely ignoring Mrs. Whitford. He said someone’s sick and he’s staying at St. Avalon Hospital.”
Vivienne understood it.
The torment made for Celina was instigated by Jonathan and Sebastian, with Vivienne as their real target.
Two bastards!
Vivienne asked Philip to drive her to St. Avalon Hospital.
Philip glanced at Vivienne in the rearview mirror.

Her arms were crossed, and her eyes were fixed on the passing scenery outside the window. Her expression was calm but cold, like the deadly silence before a storm.
“Ms. Lancaster,” Philip said cautiously, “I know how much you care about Mrs. Whitford. But please, stay calm.”
Vivienne’s lips curved into a faint smile. “Do I not look calm to you?”
“You’re calm… in a strange way…”
She acted like someone about to commit murder.
At the underground parking lot of St. Avalon Hospital, Vivienne walked quickly toward the emergency wing.
Three days ago, Frederick told her that Eliza was staying in Room 3, the VIP section of the Emergency Department.
She walked fast. As she turned a corner, she collided with Frederick, who had just come for a consult.
