Chapter 21 Play Cards
For the people of Rivemont, playing cards was life.
Vivienne was the house.
Instead of sorting out the card types, she just mixed them up.
As she declared a win, the three other players stuck out their heads to look at her cards.
“How do you win? Your cards are even messier than my room.”
Vivienne frowned and sorted out the cards.
The cards were well organized.
The other players instantly took a tumble. “Oh, you won indeed.”
Vivienne shifted her eyes to Frederick in shock as if asking, “How could you lose to these three people?”
Frederick got her hint and stroked his nose with a bitter smile.
Vivienne won all the time. As she won too many times, she couldn’t be bothered to see her cards.
A guy gritting his cigarette said, “Full house.”
Vivienne said, “I won.”

Vivienne put her cards in order. It was a straight flush.
The other players were rendered speechless.

Frederick was passing fruit and making tea for Vivienne aside.
Vivienne felt like going to the bathroom, so she let him take her place.
When the door of the bathroom closed, the players pulled a long face at once.
“Sir, if we’ve done anything wrong, just give us a beating. Why did you let such a lady humiliate us like this?”
“I swear I really didn’t deliberately let her win. I’m no match for her indeed.”
“Is she not a robot? How can she actually figure out our cards? Be careful not to be fooled by her.”
“I think you must be desperate to be fooled…”

He picked up his phone and transferred 1.5 million dollars to each of them.
“Raise your chips. Make sure she wins all the money, got it?”
“Oh my, it’s worth the price of an apartment in Crownvale Estates.”
“I never expected you’d give away 5 million to please a girl.”
Frederick didn’t reply to their teasing.
Actually, the money should have belonged to Vivienne.
Last night, Sebastian paid 5 million to bury the trending topic.
Vivienne’s 20-day account suspension actually had a silver lining.
This way, people would feel that Sebastian was using his power to bully her. Also, Vivienne could acquire 5 million.
As she came back from the bathroom, the others immediately shut up.
With a frown, Frederick said sadly, “I lost two rounds.”
Vivienne said, “It’s OK. I’ll win the money back.”
With the key to a Ferrari car beside his hand, a man said, “If others know I’ve been beaten by a woman, it’d be such a disgrace for me. I want a sports car. Will you dare to play?”
The other two players said, “Of course, I’ll triple the bet.”
Vivienne felt as if she was bullying the three guys by playing cards with them. So, she said out of kindness, “I’m afraid your parents will cut you off if you lose too much money.”
‘If we lose, we’ll admit it then. Will you dare to play or not?”
Vivienne subconsciously looked at Frederick.
Frederick whispered to her ear, “They’re all rich kids who have consulted Daniel. Money is the last thing they lack.”
‘That’s great. Money is the very thing I need!” Vivienne thought.
People tended to be irritable in the summer night.
Dressed in loungewear, Sebastian was standing on the balcony. The ground was strewn with cigarette ashes.
Kelvin didn’t find any hidden assets of Vivienne.

Eliza finished a shower and got out of the bathroom, wearing a slip dress.
Having been washed with warm water, her skin appeared rosy and smelled fragrant.

She walked to the balcony and accidentally stepped on the toy tossed around by Lucy. Suddenly, her foot slipped and her body leaned forward.
Sebastian held Eliza’s wrist at once with a hint of worry in his eyes.
“Be careful.”
Eliza nodded shyly.
Sebastian told Eliza to stand firmly.
But just as quickly, Eliza stumbled again, forcing him to grab her wrist once more.
The softness of her wrist put him in a trance for an instant.
‘Sebastian, I seem to have sprained my ankle.”
Sebastian looked down only to see that Eliza’s ankle had turned red. He bent to carry her in his arms and put her on her bed.
Eliza didn’t pull away-her hands still clinging to Sebastian’s neck.
Sebastian, I’m afraid I may have a nightmare. I don’t dare to sleep.”
Sebastian was forced to bend over.

He instantly thought of himself putting on clothes for Eliza in the dressing room at the Seraphic Radiance party.
Back then, he was consumed by anger and regret. He forgot that Eliza had been a grown-up.
It seemed that he couldn’t treat her as a kid anymore.

Eliza closed her eyes with anticipation.
She didn’t get a kiss as she expected.
Instead, Sebastian said in a low voice, “Don’t wear like this at home anymore.”
Sebastian let go of Eliza and strode outside.
Eliza sat up.
She felt that Sebastian had feelings for her.
It was a good sign. She believed that he’d fall for her completely as long as he saw her as a woman.
In the club.
Vivienne didn’t work out how much money she had won.
She just kept winning money.
The waitress brought some grapes for them.
Vivienne didn’t like eating grapes, so she didn’t eat them.
Frederick thought she had no time to eat the grapes, so he washed his hands, peeled the grape skin, and passed it to her.
The other three players all stopped playing upon seeing that.
They leaned against the chair and seemed ready to laugh at Frederick.
Vivienne thought, “Frederick gave me a chance to play cards and win money. Now, he’s been taking care of me for a few hours. I do owe him a favor.
‘I can’t let these kids laugh at him because of me.”
Frederick was wondering if his behavior had caused trouble for Vivienne.
He intended to take back the grape.
However, Vivienne leaned forward and gripped the grape.
Surprisingly, as she seized the grape, she also bit Frederick’s finger.
