Chapter 6
At these words, the crowd gasped.
Leo’s face went pale instantly, muttering, “How could it be Miss Moon?”
My father just glanced at him, his tone ice–cold. “I’ve raised my own daughter for so many years–would I be mistaken?”
Before he finished speaking, Leo dropped to his knees with a thud, raising his hand to frantically slap himself.
With someone taking the lead, all the staff in the venue followed Leo’s actions, slapping themselves
over and over.
I flexed my bloodied wrists, watching their actions with lowered
eyes.
“I deserve to die for not recognizing Miss Moon.”
“I deserve to die for breaking Mr. Moon’s rules!”
The entire auction house echoed with the sound of slapping and apologies.
My father brought over a blanket, carefully wrapping me in his arms. “Sweetheart, are you okay? It’s all Dad’s fault for letting you suffer.”
The man who usually feared nothing had a trembling voice, and as he spoke, he gave himself a hard slap, “I promised your mother I’d take good care of you–I broke my word!”
I gently pressed my father’s hand and shook my head: “Dad, it’s my fault for being a poor judge of character. If I hadn’t trusted that scumbag Liam, I wouldn’t be in this situation.”
I looked coldly at Liam in the center of the venue, my tone calm. “I want these two to pay the price they deserve!”
As soon as I finished speaking, everything went black and I lost consciousness.
In my haze, past memories played like a slideshow.
When Liam confessed to me, he prepared 999 pink roses, and after I accepted, he happily gave
candy to all the students in school.
A guy like him – young, rich, could have anything he wanted – but he’d get up early to make me breakfast because I could never wake up on time. He’d buy my roommates dinner just so they’d

look out for me.
Everyone at school said our prince–and–Cinderella love story wouldn’t last, but Liam and I defied the curse of breaking up after graduation. Just days ago we were discussing inviting those who doubted us to our wedding.
These three years felt like a long dream, and now it was time to wake up.
I was awakened by crying.
As soon as I opened my eyes, I saw my father sitting by the hospital bed, wiping away tears, looking nothing like the commanding boss he usually was.
I tried to move my arm to comfort him not to cry.
But I touched some wound and cried out in pain.
“Sweetheart, you’re finally awake.” My father panicked, hands trembling as he ran out to call the
doctor for an examination, not even wiping the tears from his face.
Only after asking the doctor ten times did he finally relax.
“Dad, I’m really fine.” I munched on the apple in my hand, watching him pace around the ward.
Even Richard’s closest subordinates didn’t know that this burly man was a crybaby.
Richard said, “Those bastards Liam and Alex–I’ll never let them off! Sweetheart, when you’re discharged, come with me to deal with them. It’s time to show those blind fools who’s in charge.”
I thought for a moment and nodded.
There’s a lot of disappointment in this world. Since I chose to be my father’s daughter, I should bear the corresponding risks.
Besides, I wanted to live peacefully.
But there were still people who came to provoke me.
In that case, I might as well stand openly on the stage.
To tell Liam and Alex that I was someone they couldn’t afford to mess with from the start.
