Chapter 12
After some time explaining everything about me to her boss, Mikea immediately said goodbye because she needs to pick up Millie and go to the hospital before lunchtime.
And it has already been two hours since then but until now, we still haven’t said a word to each other.
Well, on my side, I don’t know what I am going to say. And am afraid that if I just say anything, I might spill something that could help him learn about Millie.
And I don’t like that thought.
It is not that I don’t want him to be part of Millie’s life. He still has that right because he is the father no matter what I do. But I want to make sure that Millie will not get hurt if they learn everything about each other.
That is the only thing that I don’t want to happen. Seeing Millie getting hurt will surely shatter every piece of my heart. She is my lovely daughter and the only person that gives meaning to my life when I was being challenged by my fate.
To be honest, I wanted to back out of this agreement. I am not sure if I can work together with this man. But I know that Mikea needs this leave to be with her mother.
So, I stopped myself and chose what is right at this moment.
“Sir…” Art knocked on the door and slowly opened it. “I have some papers that need your signature.” His eyes turned to me and he looked like asking what the hell am I still doing here, sitting on the sofa.
I just shrugged my shoulders and secretly pointed to his boss who still hasn’t said anything to me since we met.
“Just put it here and please order some coffee for me and Miss Escuero,”
I don’t know why but I felt some pain in my chest when he mentioned my name as if I was just a stranger in his
eyes.
“O–okay, Sir.” Art mounted good luck on me before leaving the office.
And I heard Enver sigh and that made me turn my head on him. And this time, he is already looking straight at me,
“I won’t ask anything about where you have been or what you did for the last five years, Milan. So you can relax,” he said. “I am aware that I won’t get any answer even if I force you to talk.”
I avoided his gaze.
“In this situation, I need the deal between Raiden and Anox” he added. “Since Mikea chose you to become her temporary replacement and you are still willing to do this despite our connection in the past, I am hoping that you could help me achieve that on behalf of Mikea.”
I admit that this is hard. Especially when I know that my heart isn’t able to move on from this man, even though we have been apart for those five years.
But I don’t want to take a risk and get hurt again.
“That is the only reason why I am here, Sir Enver,” I said, ying so hard not to crack my voice. “Everything that happened to us is already in the past and I intended to leave that there. And I am only here to help my friend so she will not lose this job.”
He stared at me and after a while, he sighed. “Then, let’s be proper adults and work with each other professionally.”
I nodded. “I agree with that.” I stood up and went to his tale. “So? What should I do now?”

“You will be focusing on everything regarding the proposal that we are going to make for the meeting with Lancelot Neon,” he said and handed me a folder that was needed for that job. “These are the information-”
“This will not be enough,” I said and took those folders. “Ihink I need to visit the Anox building personally so I will know how to impress Mister Neon. And oh, I will also need to take a tour inside your building so I will know what this place can offer to the famous Anox.”
“Anox building has a high security that is why they will not allow anyone who is not part of their company or people who don’t have an appointment enter their premises,” he said. “That is the reason-”
“Don’t worry, Sir,” I took my bag. “I am your secretary, right? And it is my job to do everything impossible and make it possible.” I walked right to the door and smiled at him. “So, I will do my job.”
“But-”
“I will be back before the office hours ended,” I cut him off before he could say anything to stop me. “I promise to give you some updates.” I left the office before he could say anything.
Art immediately approached me when I closed the door. “Girl, what happened there?” he asked. “Didn’t Sir Enver like you as the temporary substitute for Mikea?”
I shook my head. “It is not like that,” I said. “He was just busy earlier because of the papers that he needs to sign. That is why he couldn’t take care of me earlier.”
“Oh.” He nodded. “So? What is he making you do now?”
“He said that the focus of my job has something to do with the meeting with Lancelot Neon and the Anox, so I need to go out and gather more information that can impress him.” I patted his shoulder and took one of the paper cups that he is holding. “I will be back shortly so take care of our boss for a while.”
I empty the coffee in the cup and immediately run outside the building. And when I finally arrived at the terminal, I tried to call Ferry, one of my two friends who helped me hide from Enver.
But she didn’t answer her phone. So, I sent a message to my other friend, Castiel, and told her that we need to
meet.
She replied to me immediately and told me where we could meet so I immediately grabbed a taxi and went there.
“Milan!” Castiel greeted me with a tight hug right after I entered her office. “I missed you so much!”
“I missed you too.” I hugged her too because I never really had a chance to talk to her while I was hiding from my ex–husband because Enver suspected that she is the one who helped me so he never really took his eyes on
whatever Castiel did.
She let go of the hug and pulled me to her sofa. “What are you doing here? Is it okay for you to get out of that subdivision?”
I sighed and looked straight at her. “Cas, we already met each other.”
Her eyes widened. “W–what?”
I nodded. “It is because of his secretary, Mikea Reese.”
And I started telling her about Mikea’s situation which led us to my unexpected encounter with my ex–husband and how I became his secretary for the whole three months so I will be with him every day because of this agreement that I entered.
“Milan!” she growled at me. “If you need some help with money, you know that Ferry and I are always willing to help you. Especially if it is for our little goddaughter.”

“Cas, it is not just about the money why I agree with this arrangement,” I said. “I also wanted to help Mikea because she has been a good friend of mine for those years that I can even be with you and Ferry.”
I never expected that this would happen.
Mikea never mentioned her boss‘ name. And from what I know, there is no personal information about the owner of Raiden in any magazine or celebrity news interviews.
They never tell his real name and he was only known as Raiden. So I never really think that Enver is the one behind that successful car dealer.
Besides, all I know is that he was still managing his father’s company.
“Ferry didn’t tell you anything about the connection between Raiden and Enver?” she asked.
I shook my head. “Well, I never really had a chance to talk to that girl more often because she is too busy with her life and Enver is also finding some clues about finding you through her. And she only has a chance to contact you through Millie and it was just for a short time so she couldn’t tell me anything.”
She sighed and massaged her temple.
“Cas…” I hugged her tight.
I told Enver that I can work with him without minding my past relationship with him but to be honest, I feel like my heart would explode when I was still in front of him.
And I don’t like it.
“Oh, Milan.” She caressed my hair.
Because of what she did, I slowly felt calm, and I smiled.
Castiel was the one who always calmed me down whenever my heart got anxious and confused. It was a great help to me whenever she caressed my hair, and it took away all of my worries, even just for a short time.
And those short times helped me think properly.
While Ferry is the one who helps me with everything. She is an all–rounder because she can do almost everything.
That is why it is a great challenge for me when I have to live by myself without having them by my side, which is the very first time this has happened to me.
I think they are the main reason why I managed to survive when my parents died. Because they always help me.
But these past five years are different from before, especially when I was shouldering my responsibility to Millie alone.
“What are you planning to do now?” she asked. “It looks life you can’t escape Enver, especially now that he already knows you are friends with his secretary.”
I let go of our hug. “I don’t plan to escape in this arrangement because I already promised to Mikea.”
I think I will just pretend that everything is normal and noting happened in our past because I feel like if I tried to avoid him, it would only give him the reason for diving deep into my life and that could help him learn about
Millie.
I am not ready for that.
“If that is what you want,” she said. “You know that we always support whatever your decision, right?”
It is only three months.
