This is it!
I already checked everything around the venue. Every guest that we invited was already outside and waiting for our opening. Media that will cover the whole event are also on standby. And of course, the food for guests was also prepared.
I made sure that everything is in place, especially our display.
We are just waiting for the exact time to start the event when we are launching the partnership between Raiden and Anox, the cars that we have in our displays, and the new method that customers can use in case they can’t afford to buy the cars in cash.
“I am nervous,” Art said. He kept walking back and forth as he looked around. “I didn’t expect that there would be a lot of people here.”
“Well, I gave an invitation to all the people that are related to Raiden,” I said. “And of course, I also make sure that all the executives and investors are here because there are media who will cover everything that will happen in this event.”
“Really?” he asked and I nodded.
“And Castiel, my friend, said that she will also feature this event in her magazines, and also my friend, Ferry, talked to a lot of people to watch the launching.”
Those two told me that they can’t attend the event and to show their support to Raiden, they still gave some help for another exposure. Though they don’t need to do that since they are already the reason why I had a chance to meet Lancelot.
If Castiel didn’t give me her reservation at Dashiel’s restaurant, I might not be able to meet that man. And Dashiel was the one who invited me to Arch Fend where I accidentally met Ferry who brought me in front of Lancelot.
Without those simple coincidental efforts, this event is not possible to happen.
“Do you think it will become successful?” he asked. “I can’t calm down.”
Well, I am also not quite sure if there are no problems that will happen today. Especially since we have someone on our side who will possibly do something to sabotage our program.
But I can’t let our people stay nervous. That feeling is what makes people make mistakes and I can’t let that happen. They gave their utmost effort just to make this day successful.
I smiled and tapped his shoulder. “Don’t worry, everything is under control.”
As long as I keep an eye on everyone, I can stop them before they could even act.
“So, I will let you handle everything and I will stay at the back, okay?”
He frowned. “What do you mean?” he asked. “This is your idea, right? You should be staying beside the boss and taking credit for it.”

I shook my head. “I don’t want to stand out too much, Arf. Being associated with famous people is not my thing” And I ran before he could say anything
I already took care of everything so they don’t need to worry. They are prepared for this and familiar with the idea so if anyone talks to them, they know what to say.

I stopped and turned my back to see Enver who called me. “Oh, hi.”
“You will be-”
I shook my head before he continued what he was saying. And that makes him frown.
“What?”
“This event will be shown to the whole country and I think it is not a good idea if a lot of people see me beside you, again,” I explained. “My life is already at peace, Enver. And you know that there are a lot of people who will not be going to like it if they learned that we are together again.”
“As if-”
“Sorry but I can’t do that anymore,” I cut him off again. “I don’t want a mess in my life again just because of a man. I will help you maintain the success of Raiden and its partnership with Anox but people shouldn’t see us together again.” And like what I did to Art, I ran again before he could say anything and went backstage.
And when I was sure that I was no longer in his field of vision, I stopped, leaned in, and held my chest so hard.
Because I started to feel the pain again.
And those words that I said to him… I mean it.
Being with Enver is not always happy. He is from a wealthy family and those people don’t want to be associated with people who hold nothing significant.
In short, they don’t like me as Enver’s girlfriend.
But they can’t do anything because they don’t want to offend Enver. He is the only one who can help their father to manage their business so they were forced to accept me. Until we get married.
But they didn’t attend the ceremony because they scheduled a very important meeting that same day so Enver does not suspect anything about their treatment of me.
Well, I don’t mind that. The only thing that I have in mind before is to finally get married to the man that I love. But everything changes right after that, and that is when I realized that being his wife will not be easy.
Enver started to handle their business out of town most of the time.
We still haven’t checked anything for our house so I had to live in his parent’s house together with his siblings who haven’t married yet.
That is when they showed that they don’t like me. And I can feel that every day.

So, even though Enver doesn’t like it, I still insist on taking a job from one of my father’s friends. I might not be able to endure that kind of treatment the whole day if I only stayed in that house.
But since they are still Enver’s family, I still did my best to please them. To make them like me. To make them know that I deserve to be with Enver.
I made a lot of friends from different fields whom I know will help me if I need a favor. And sometimes I had to gulp my pride to make sure that I would be able to please them. I change myself into someone who isn’t me to please everyone around Enver.
But even though I managed to create my network and the influence that they want me to have, they never intended to like me.
And that is when I realized that I can never please someone who doesn’t have the intention of letting me enter their life.
So, I slowly encouraged Enver for us to live in a separate house and he didn’t disappoint me. He even let me pick what I want.
We moved there and since then, I never went back to his parent’s house. Even those times when Enver was staying here for good, I never showed myself to any of them.
Especially to his friends.
And so I thought, everything will be okay. Well, that is what I only thought.
“Hey…”
I turned to my side and saw Dashiel standing there. “Dash…”
“Are you okay?” He immediately came to me. “Why do every time I see you, you always seem in pain.”
I smiled but I am sure that I can’t hide the sadness I am feeling right now. “Well, let’s just say that five years is not enough for me to finally move on. But I had to pretend because I don’t want him to know what happened to me in those five years.”
He frowned. “What?”
I shook my head. “Never mind what I said.” I held his arm. “Please, don’t say anything to your friend, okay? We might not be that close but please. I don’t want him to know that it still hurts.”
He stared at me without saying a word. And I can see the hesitation in his eyes but after a while, he sighed and nodded. “Okay, I promise.”
“Thank you.
“I won’t ask anything,” he said. “But since it is a special day for Raiden, I hope you can calm down so we can start the event.”
I breathed deeply and nodded. “I can do that.”
He messed my hair up and smiled. “I know I won’t be much help to you but please don’t hesitate to talk to me when you have any problem. If it is personal, I can keep a secret or two if it will help you ease your mind.”
