:
Clara was frightened and closed her eyes tightly, her whole body trembling.
Bang!
A loud noise startled the burly men, causing them to stop immediately.

She suddenly felt a weight lifted off her body before she could react, followed by the sound of someone heavily falling to the ground.
The next moment, something warm and heavy was draped over her.
It was Michael’s coat!
With a swift roundhouse kick and another powerful strike, Michael had the group of burly men lying on the ground, unable to move within some time.
Soon after, Eric arrived.
Michael’s sharp gaze swept over the men on the ground. “Clean this up.”
Clara was still in shock and looked at Michael as if only just snapping back to reality.
The next second, she felt herself lifted off the ground. She clung tightly to his collar, her eyes filled with fear.
Michael saw it all and walked outside holding her.
Clara sat in the passenger seat inside the car, wrapped tightly in his suit jacket. She was still shaken by what had just happened.
I’ve almost….
Though she had been with a stranger in that hospital storeroom before, it didn’t terrify her as much as this incident. She couldn’t shake off the images of those men whenever she closed her
eyes.
“It’s over.” Michael reached over and held her hand, feeling it tremble.
Thankfully, he had arrived in time; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
He pressed the gas pedal harder seeing Clara still trembling, heading back to the villa.
Her legs gave way when she opened the car door to get out, and she fell.

The suit jacket also fell to the ground, revealing her torn and tattered dress, barely covering her body. Her fair skin was dirty, and her swollen face made her look pitiful.
She bent down to pick up the jacket, but Michael was faster, draping it over her shoulders and lifting her in his arms.
Back in the bedroom, she felt filthy. “I need to take a shower.”
Michael said nothing, carrying her to the bathroom and closing the door after setting her down.
Clara locked the bathroom door behind him.
Two hours passed, and she still showed no sign of coming out.
Michael grew anxious. “Clara, it’s been two hours. Are you done?”
There was no response from inside.
She opened it just as he was about to break down the door, wrapped in a bath towel. She gave him a pale smile. “I’m fine. I just need to change. Please go.”
Michael left for his study and called Eric. “Who’s behind today’s incident?”
There had to be someone orchestrating it.
“It was Emma’s doing. I’ve already sent those men to jail. They’ll never see the light of day again, and no one will know that your legs are fully functional.”
Michael lit a cigarette by the window, took a drag, and exhaled a cloud of smoke, his sharp gaze obscured by the haze. “Find her.”
“Boss, she’s gone. I heard she didn’t return to the Bennett Family. No one knows where she is.” Eric had no idea that Emma was on a yacht, hiding out.
“Then, make the Bennett Family suffer a bit.” Michael’s voice was laced with anger.
Eric was stunned. What’s going on? Why’s the boss suddenly so concerned about Clara?
“Yes!” Eric hesitated for a moment before speaking up. “Jade called me recently, asking when you’ll visit,”
“We’ll see. Tell her to rest up.”
He felt nauseous whenever he thought of the sickeningly sweet messages Jade had sent him and was even more reluctant to see her.

Clara was already asleep when he returned to the bedroom. Her swollen face glowed faintly, and her eyelashes trembled slightly. She slept restlessly.
Michael took out a jar of ointment from the drawer and gently applied it to her.
The slight pain caused Clara to frown. She instinctively swatted his hand away and continued sleeping.
After finishing the treatment, he heard a noise outside and frowned as he went to investigate.
It was his master.
His master had free access to the villa and lived in a nearby house. It was he who had previously given him the bewitching smoke.
“Don’t hurt her.”
Michael confronted his master directly for the first time. He knew his master worked for Benjamin, always watching his every move. He had turned a blind eye to it since his master had raised him.
Yet now, things were different. It was incredibly dangerous with Clara living here.
“Don’t worry. I won’t hurt the things or people you care about. I’m still waiting for her to give you a child.” His master patted his chest.
Michael frowned deeply.
In the past, his master had brought many women here to have children with him.
“Clara can cure the poison in my body. I don’t need to have a child.”
He had never tried the method of using a child’s blood to cure the poison in his body.
“You’re married now. It’s time you had a child.” His master looked at him with a complicated expression, filled with concern.
All this time, Michael had wanted to ask why his master worked for Benjamin, but the answers had always been vague.
However, he knew that his master had never done anything to harm the people or things he
cared about.
Raising a dog would create an emotional bond, let alone a person. Michael felt bitter and didn’t want to fight the only person who had raised him even if that person had ulterior motives.

“Okay.” Michael agreed softly and returned to the room.
Clara slept until the sun was high in the sky.
Her face had completely returned to normal at the sight of her reflection in the mirror. There was still some ointment on her cheek.
Did Michael apply them?
Just then, Emma, the person behind the incident, called. Clara had yet to confront her, but Emma was already on the line.
“Clara, the Bennett Enterprise is on the brink of collapse! You better tell Michael to back off, or the company will be ruined!”
Emma had received a call from Emily early in the morning.
She decided to call Clara after thinking about it all morning.
Michael is attacking the Bennett Enterprise? Is it because of what happened yesterday?
A strange feeling spread in Clara’s heart.
“Don’t think you’ll ever get your hands on Bennett Enterprise if it goes under!” Emma’s words brought her back to reality.
She sneered, “I don’t care what happens to the Bennett Enterprise. Emma, we still have a score to settle. You better hope I don’t catch you, or you won’t even know how you died!”
After hanging up, Clara left the bedroom deep in thought. She looked around but couldn’t find Michael.
She quickly dialed his number. When he answered, she hurriedly spoke, “Michael, please go easy on the Bennett Enterprise!”
She had just been verbally sparring with Emma, but how could she ever run Bennett Enterprise well in the future if it collapsed?
“Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing.” His magnetic voice drew nearer.
She was startled to see him leaving the study, already ending the call.
“You didn’t go to the company?”
