Michael initially intended to go, but he couldn’t stop worrying about her, so he stayed.

Upon seeing his calm and composed expression, Clara suddenly recalled what Emma had mentioned earlier.
After some internal struggle, she finally asked, “Did you deal with Bennett Enterprise?”
Michael was taken aback. Then, realizing the Bennett Family had most probably given a call, he raised an eyebrow. “Any problem?”
He admitted it?
A peculiar emotion stirred in Clara’s heart. The fact that the Bennett Family was currently being dealt with by Michael didn’t really concern her, especially since she hadn’t yet taken over the family business.
She could sort things out after assuming control.
Michael’s phone suddenly rang.
Clara only caught a glimpse of the caller ID before he frowned. She guessed it was Jade.
For some reason, her heart felt heavy. This man had saved her and, at the same time, took the opportunity to retaliate against the Bennett Family.
It seemed she had thought too much. After all, they were merely in a contract marriage. His kindness toward her was nothing more than a formality.
“Since you’re alright, I’m heading to the office,” Michael said, taking the call as he left.
“I urgently need some money. Could you transfer another ten million to my account? Something happened to my family.” Emma’s voice was filled with panic. If she couldn’t find the funds soon, Bennett Enterprise might collapse.
If Bennett Enterprise were to fall, she would no longer be the prestigious heiress of the family. She couldn’t marry a wealthy man without that title.
She would become a penniless heiress from a bankrupt company.
However, raising ten million was almost impossible, so she had no choice but to turn to her benefactor.

“Why do you need so much money? What’s happening with your family?” Michael asked as he drove.
“It’s… My…” Emma wanted to speak honestly but then reconsidered. Given Michael’s powerful influence, what if my benefactor fears him and refuses to get involved?
Moreover, the child in my belly isn’t even this man’s; it’s a result of Clara sleeping with him.
Since things have already gone wrong, there’s no turning back. As long as Clara is eliminated, everything would be fine.
Emma quickly replied, “My parents have accumulated a lot of debt over the years, and now my dad is ill, so we’re short on money.”
“Which hospital is your father in? Let Eric handle the medical bills and debts. You’re pregnant. You shouldn’t be stressing over this.”
Although Michael found her distasteful, she was carrying his child. He didn’t want anything to happen to the grandparents.
“Oh? Alright.” Emma dared not say further, fearing he would investigate her.
The Bennett Family was on the brink of collapse, and she couldn’t risk exposing her true identity. She hadn’t even met him in person yet, so she changed the topic. “When are you coming to see me? I really want to meet you.”
She had noticed that whenever she actively sought him out, he was always indifferent. Sometimes, he even cut their conversations short, taking work as an excuse.
Once they met face–to–face, she was confident she could win him over with a few flirtatious glances and extra effort.
“I’ll let you know. I’m busy right now, so that’s it for now. Discuss the money issue with Eric.” Michael ended the call and continued driving toward his office,
Nevertheless, as he waited at a traffic light, he suddenly felt the urge to see her. After all, with her family in trouble, they needed to meet sooner or later.
He made a U–turn and headed toward the yacht.
When Clara was resting at home, her phone rang. Upon seeing the familiar caller ID, she answered. “If you’re calling to talk about the Bennett Family, don’t bother.”
“Clara, I need to see you.”

Clara clenched her phone tightly, forcing herself to agree. She quickly tidied up and left to meet Emma.
The two arranged to meet at a secluded cafe.
In a corner by the window, Emma sat wearing a mask, hat, and sunglasses. She was waiting for Clara.
Upon entering, Clara spotted her immediately. She approached and took a seat.
“How would you be so bold to meet me? Aren’t you afraid I’ll have you kidnapped and thrown into jail? Those people you hired have probably already ratted you out. It would take no time at all to have you locked up.”
In reality, Clara couldn’t act just yet. She hadn’t fully taken control of Bennett Enterprise, and the ownership still belonged to her uncle. Throwing Emma in jail now wouldn’t benefit her.
Hence, she had to suppress the anger inside.
“Why wouldn’t I? You know exactly what you’ve done. I suggest you beg Michael to spare Bennett Enterprise, or my dad will sell his shares to a foreign company. It’s as powerful as Michael’s company. You’ll find it nearly impossible to buy those shares back.”
Emma’s words gave Clara a headache. After all, she didn’t want to owe Michael too much.
If the foreign company was as powerful as Michael’s, it would come at a high cost to reclaim the shares.
Setting aside whether she owed Michael, the fact that he already had another woman and a child made her want to distance herself from him.
“If Bennett Enterprise collapses, it won’t do you any good either. Even if you acquire the family business, you’ll be starting from the bottom. At that point, no one will want to work with a company as battered as Bennett Enterprise.”
Emma laid out her reasoning. She couldn’t rely on her benefactor or Eric anymore. If her lies were discovered, and it came to light that the child she was carrying wasn’t hers, all her future wealth would vanish.
“Think it over. I’ll be waiting for your response.” As Emma stood to leave, her phone on the table rang.
Clara glanced over as she picked it up.
“Darling? Are you coming to see me? Alright. I’m on my way now.”
Emma could hardly wait to fly over to meet the benefactor. She had only arranged to meet

As she left the cafe, she heard his voice over the phone. “No need. I’m already out. Where were you going?”
“I was visiting my parents at the hospital. My relatives have already dealt with the debts, so there’s no need to trouble Eric. As for my dad’s illness, he’s been transferred to a top hospital by my relatives, so you can rest assured. If I urgently need money again, I’ll inform Eric.”
“Alright. Just let him know if you need anything.” Michael was sitting in his car and rubbing his temples.
His mind was filled with thoughts of Clara, especially the image of her nearly being…
