Chapter 7

The report showed he had severe teratozoospermia.

The probability of infertility was 99.99%.

The entire ballroom fell into dead silence.

All the color instantly drained from Gregory’s face.

He froze, staring straight at the report on the screen that shredded every bit of his dignity.

At last, he reacted, roaring.

“No! It’s fake! This is forged!

“Catherine! You vicious woman! Just to get back at me, you dared to forge this to slander me!”

He lunged at me with a twisted face, but his friends held him back tightly.

My mother-in-law was also stunned.

Paume. snmpleted

Her trembling finger pointed at the screen, then at me. Her lips opened and closed, but not a word came out.

“Forged?” I looked at him coldly.

“Gregory, this report was from last year, when we went to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.

“The chief doctor was Dr. Adams, the country’s leading male infertility expert.

“The authenticity of this report can be verified anytime.

“It has the hospital’s official seal and the doctor’s personal signature. I even have copies with me.

“For the past two years, who was the one running with you to the best hospitals across the nation?

“Who swallowed her pride to protect your fragile self-esteem, telling everyone the problem was mine?

“Who accompanied you to take those bitter medicine, and sat through painful exams again and again?

“It was me! Catherine!”

My voice grew louder and louder, filled with years of suppressed pain and fury.

“And what about you? You took the prescriptions I found for you and then turned around to deceive another woman!

“You told her the problem was mine!

“You made her believe that if she carried your child, she could use it to marry into a wealthy family!”

My eyes turned toward Emily, whose face had already gone ghostly pale.

“Ms. Watson, did you really believe the child in your belly belonged to Gregory?”

Emily swayed, barely able to stand.

She looked at Gregory, then at the report on the screen, her eyes wide with terror and confusion.

“Gregory… is… is what she said true?”

Gregory’s body shook. Sweat soaked through his expensive suit.

He couldn’t say a single word.

Because the report was real.

The diagnosis of infertility was real.

He was the infertile one.

“No… This isn’t possible…” Emily muttered. She suddenly grabbed Gregory’s arm, her nails digging deep into his

flesh.

“Gregory! Tell me this isn’t true! You told me you were healthy! You told me we could have many, many babies!”

Her voice turned sharp and shrill, completely losing control.

Gregory was shaken back and forth by her, his eyes empty, like a puppet drained of its soul.
