Chapter 198
Elena’s POV
The news about my pregnancy was the biggest and brightest secret we had ever kept for a while. For two weeks, we kept it to ourselves, just enjoying the moment by ourselves first.
What’s funny is that after learning about my pregnancy, it looked like Deacon had become a new person. He was always happy and excited, almost like there was a light around him, and well… he became more protective. He insisted on escorting me everywhere and drove the Royal Guard commanders mad by constantly questioning the safety protocols of every single room I entered.
By now, I think everyone was already confused by his action.
But now we were ready to tell the world, and our first task was to tell Rafael.
We sat him down one evening in the library, the setting of so many of his moments. Deacon knelt before him, taking both of the boy’s hands.
“Rafael,” Deacon said, his voice soft but serious. “You know you are my son, in every way that matters,
correct?”
Rafael nodded solemnly. “Yes. I’m the little wolf.”
I smiled. Since we adopted him, we have already established the fact that he’s our son, and he started to
call us Mom and Dad.
“You are,” I confirmed, sitting beside them. “And you have been so brave and so strong for us. Because you are so brave, the Moon Goddess has decided to give you a very important new job.”
Rafael tilted his head, his eyes wide. “What job? Do I get a uniform?”
Deacon chuckled. “Better than a uniform. You are going to be a big brother, little wolf. Your mother is
carrying our new pup.”
The news took a moment to sink in. Rafael’s face moved through confusion, scepticism, and then erupted in pure, unadulterated delight.
“A brother?” he shrieked, jumping up and down. “Or a sister? Will they train with me? Can I teach them the punch stance?”
He flung himself into my arms, hugging my neck so tightly I laughed. It was everything we had hoped for
complete, overwhelming joy.
“You will teach them everything, Raf,” I promised, kissing his hair. “You will be the best big brother in the Kingdom.”
With Rafael officially onboard, it was time to share the news with the Kingdom. We agreed the announcement should be public and formal. The Kingdom had endured months of darkness, scandal, and violence; they needed a reason to celebrate, a symbol of stability and hope for the future.

The Royal Council Chamber, the same room where Glenda’s fate had been sealed, was chosen for the official announcement.
The Chamber was packed. The Royal family, Alphas, an Elder, or a high–ranking noble filled every chair. The air crackled with anticipation, though most assumed the King was about to announce new trade agreements or perhaps a formal declaration of peace with a distant territory.
Deacon and I walked onto the dais hand in hand, wearing our ceremonial crowns. The moment we appeared, the entire assembly rose to their feet.
Deacon stepped up to the massive podium. He smiled at all of them, which surprised them because it wasn’t one of those diplomat smiles but a rare and genuine one.
“Everyone, I got something new for all of you.” His voice boomed in the entire room. “For weeks, we had been talking about chaos in this room, and now, I want to fill it with joy.”
The room became filled with mutters.
“What is it?” King Desmond, with a glint in his eyes, as if he had a hint about what his brother was talking about, asked.
Deacon paused a little, giving it a suspense before reaching out to pull me as he placed his large hand gently on my still–flat stomach.
“Three months ago,” Deacon continued, his voice thick with emotion, “our wedding was interrupted by a dark shadow of the past. That shadow sought to destroy the stability of the crown and the life of my family. But my wife and I stood firm. We faced the storm, and we survived.”
He turned back to the audience, his expression triumphant. “Today, I announce to the Kingdom that the
Moon Goddess has blessed our union. The Princess is pregnant.”
The effect was instantaneous and overwhelming.
Silence hung for one beat, as everyone processed the weight of the news–a true, indisputable heir. Then, the Chamber exploded.
The roar of approval was deafening.
“Congratulations, brother! Finally, a heir!” King Desmond uttered happily as he stood up from his chair and gave both of us a hug.
Everyone was happy about the news, but I’m happier to see the brothers on good terms again, even closer than before.
I felt tears streaming down my face as I watched the unbridled happiness unfold before me.
We had learned a few days ago that King Desmon had everything planned to have me marry his brother. Since he and the Queen didn’t have children, he wanted to pass the line to our offspring and besides…. It turned out he knew that Deacon loved me before and wanted to give him a little push. That’s why he did
what he did.

Deacon put his arm around me, pulling me close so I could share the moment.
The joy was infectious. Alpha Valerius, who had just prosecuted Glenda, led the charge, raising his glass and shouting, “To the Princess! To the Royal Heir!”
I stepped up to the podium, waiting for the noise to subside. When it finally did, I looked out at the faces, faces that had once judged me, ignored me, or pitied me. Now, they were filled with love and respect
“Everyone,” I said, my voice clear and strong. “This child is not just the future of the Kingdom, this child is the embodiment of hope. This child is a testament that love triumphs over hate, and that creation will always defeat destruction.”
I placed my own hand over Deacon’s on my stomach. “We will raise this child with the same strength, the same integrity, and the same fierce love that we showed when defending this throne. Thank you for your support, and thank you for your faith.”
The second wave of cheering was even louder than the first. The weight of the crown suddenly felt lighter, buoyed by the genuine love of our people.
Later that evening, as the official celebrations continued in the ballroom, Deacon and I stood on the balcony, watching the lights glitter across the city.
“We did it,” I whispered, resting my head on his shoulder.
“We did,” Deacon agreed, kissing my temple.
The dark memories of the attack, of Glenda and Bryson, were receding, finally replaced by the
overwhelming, powerful promise of a new life.
