Chapter 107
Elijah Vaughn.
I woke up with my body feeling heavy, like the mattress had swallowed me during the night.
Every part of me ached–not from physical pain, but from emotional exhaustion. My eyelids, still damp, stung. My eyes burned from crying until I fell asleep.
I blinked a few times, letting the dim light of the cell fill my blurry vision.
Instinctively, I looked around.
But there was no sign of him.
None.
The emptiness in front of me hurt more than any wound ever could.
My chest tightened, a lump forming in my throat, choking any attempt to breathe normally.
It felt like an anchor had lodged inside me, dragging down everything I had left.
Guilt gnawed at every thought, every heartbeat.
I’d been an idiot.
I listened to those filthy parasites.
I believed in dirty words planted just to destroy me.
Dante… He had been honest with me from the start.
He showed me the most human side of this hell we live in.
He protected me, took me in, and loved me for who I am… And still, I threw it all away.
Why?
Because of insecurity?
Because my weak mind doubted the only man who’s always been by my side?
God… I sounded like some unstable teenager.

Someone who couldn’t handle their own emotions.
I buried my face in my hands, inhaling deeply, trying to shake off the regret that clung to my skin.

Chapter 107
Letting out a long breath, I forced myself to stand.
Sitting up took more effort than I expected, like the weight of the day was still sitting on my shoulders.
Next to me, the new uniform Fox had left was neatly folded. I grabbed the fabric, peeling off the torn, filthy one–a cruel reminder of everything that happened.
I slipped into the clean uniform, feeling the coolness of the fabric against my exhausted skin.
The cell door was still open.
Maybe it wasn’t that late yet… Or maybe Fox had left it open, giving me space.
I walked silently through the corridors.
Even with distant voices and footsteps echoing, the place felt empty. As if the world had lost its color.
I reached the bathroom and went inside.
I headed straight for the sink.
Leaning on the edge, I stared into the cracked mirror. My eyes were swollen and red–a perfect reflection of the chaos still brewing inside me.
I turned on the faucet, letting the water run.
I splashed it on my face over and over, trying to wake up… or maybe just to wash it all away.
The sound of footsteps made me freeze.
I slowly lifted my gaze, and when I looked up, I saw Viper’s disgusting grin forming at the bathroom.
entrance.
“Well, what a surprise… The Reaper’s little baby all alone.” His voice dripped with mockery.
I clenched my fists, fighting for control.
Not now.
Not now.
“Sleep well?” he continued. “Bet you did, now that he finally gave you what you deserve–nothing but
contempt.”
I closed my eyes for a second.
Breathe.

Just breathe.
“Funny how you thought you were special…”
Viper stepped closer, his voice oozing poison.
“Thought you were different from the rest. But in the end… you’re just another broken little toy.”
I pretended it wasn’t about me.
I turned the faucet on again, splashing more water over my face.
“He used to say the same things to me, you know?” His smile widened. “Called me ‘love,‘ held me at night. Even promised to get me out of here. Sound familiar?”
I swallowed hard.
My muscles trembled.
“And the way he went down on me…” Viper laughed, licking his lips. “I think he was more affectionate with me than he’s ever been with you. Know why?”
I didn’t answer.
I couldn’t.
“Because you’re weak, Elijah. So weak, you ruined everything by yourself. You were never special. You never will be.”
The words hit like shards of glass inside my head.
I’ve been trying to change… to leave my insecurity behind, to silence this stupid fear, and, most of all, to
fix what I broke with Dante.
But he wouldn’t stop.
I’m not letting this happen again.
Never again.
I spun on my heels.
My gaze is burning.
“All of this…” My voice came out low, guttural. “Everything that happened…”
I stormed toward him.

“IT IS YOUR FUCKING FAULT, YOU PIECE OF SHIT!”
Before he could react, my fist connected with his nose with a sharp, satisfying crack..
The sound of bones breaking was music to my ears.
Viper stumbled backward, screaming, both hands flying to his face.
I took advantage and kicked him in the gut, making him double over.
When he looked up again, I punched him right in the mouth.
I felt something give way–probably teeth.
