The hours passed in the blink of an eye.
The rest of the day was filled with the usual tasks: handling deliveries, punishing slackers, managing the hidden supplies, and issuing instructions.
Every command given, every step calculated.
Boredom followed me like a shadow, but today… there was a sense of anticipation in the air.
Something different was coming.
The sky was painted in shades of gray as I passed through the iron gates into the yard.
The noise was deafening.
The inmates were in a frenzy, pushing each other in the makeshift bleachers, buzzing like they were about to watch a concert.
Shouts, laughter, taunts–living chaos.
I smiled faintly.
Despite everything, I admit yard fights were still one of the few fun pastimes around here.
I approached the central bleacher and sat down, relaxing my shoulders, watching the show about to begin. That’s when Pietro appeared, with that damn wide grin plastered across his face.
“Hello, everyone!” he shouted, arms raised. “Today we’ve got fresh meat in the ring!”
The cheers intensified.
Some even threw scraps of food into the air.
It looked like anything but a prison.
Pietro kept going, hyping up the crowd, then gave a signal. Another guard appeared, shoving five newcomers into the dirty sand arena.
I leaned forward, resting my elbows on my knees, watching with interest.
The first one shoved in wore a white uniform.

Just a regular newbie–terrified eyes, shaky legs.
He didn’t even have time to react.
One of Dragão’s men lunged like a wild beast.
It was fast.
A punch to the throat. A kick to the stomach.
The boy fell, coughing blood.
He tried to get up but took a knee to the face.
His head hit the ground hard.

He was dead.
The crowd roared like it was a goal.
Screams, applause, laughter.
The second newbie was shoved in next.
Skinny, almost skeletal. Tried to run to the edge of the arena but got grabbed by the arm and slammed against the concrete wall.
The sound of the impact echoed.
His opponent pounded him with heavy blows until his body stopped moving.
The third one made me pause.
Blond hair. Pale skin. A young face. Blue eyes–damn, those blue eyes were wide with pure terror.
There was something about him that hooked me immediately.
A different kind of shine. A raw, fragile beauty–out of place in this scene of blood and violence,

I felt my breath hitch for a second.
I made a subtle hand gesture.

Pietro saw me.
Within seconds, the fight was stopped.
A guard stepped between the blond and his attacker.
I stood up without hesitation, my body driven by a kind of anticipation I hadn’t felt in days. I descended the bleachers, eyes locked on that still figure in the sand.
I needed him.
He didn’t feel real.
That parted mouth, that beautiful face, those trembling eyes.
Fear clung to him like perfume.
And that only turned me on more. I smiled wide, savoring every step as I approached.
I stopped in front of him, tilted my head slightly, studying him like I’d found a gem buried in trash.
“This kid’s going to be my toy,” I said to myself, feeling the heat surge through my veins.
The fear in his eyes was almost poetic.
And hell… had just gained a new angel to destroy.
I moved without hesitation, grabbing his arm firmly. His skin was warm and trembling, like fear was boiling just beneath the surface.
I started dragging him out of the yard, giving him no chance to react. The inmates, still high on the violence, began to shout again as they saw me pulling the newbie.
I glanced over my shoulder, flashing a lazy grin.
“Enjoy the rest of the show.”
The shouting grew louder, the chaos resuming like a circus act.
He tried to pull away, to resist, but I only tightened my grip.
This wasn’t a warning.
It was a brand.
