Chapter 207
Adrian Kael
I walk through the hallway with light steps, a smile consuming me
from the inside out–the kind of smile you just can’t hide.
I’m happy. No, it’s not just happiness; it’s ecstasy, it’s a fever, it’s a
near–sickly joy gnawing at my insides. Magnus accepted my love. He
didn’t just allow it; he returned my kisses. And that… that drives me
wild, making me unable to stand still, as if every muscle in my body
were burning with anxiety.
I want his gift to arrive now, immediately; I can’t stand the wait.
Will he seal me with a kiss of gratitude? A deep, lingering kiss–the
kind that traps the soul? Or perhaps he’ll wrap me in a tight, warm,
suffocating embrace, like chains I never want to let go of?
I don’t need to hear an “I love you.” Words mean nothing, not to me. I
want his heat, I want his touch, and I want anything that proves I am
his… anything that makes me believe he considers me his own.
If that day ever comes, if I see in his eyes that he truly views me as
his, I think I’ll lose it. Maybe I’ll die of a heart attack; who knows?

I’ve always dreamed of him. I’ve always craved him. And now that
he’s accepted me, that he’s trying to like me, I already feel myself
going over the edge.
I imagine the day he finally calls me “mine.” On that day, yeah… I
don’t think I’ll be able to handle it. I’ll snap for good and maybe smile
while I descend into madness.
I cross paths with David, who nearly trips when he sees me. He comes
running, out of breath.
“Boss, the shipment you asked for arrived early. We stowed everything
away.”
A wide grin spreads across my face at the news.
“Excellent, David. Good job. I’ll check on it later. Right now, I need to
feed my love.”
My gaze darkens at his nervousness; I watch him swallow hard.
“Is there anything else?” I ask coldly, my voice as cautious as it is icy.
He takes a deep breath.
“I received a notice: in a week, they’re transferring a new guard. He

was a chief at a prison in Russia… and now he’s taking a post here.”
I tilt my head and stare at him, failing to understand why I should
care about some new guard.
“And what does that have to do with me?”
He swallows hard; his hands are shaking.
“I only warned you because he might want to change some rules
regarding the drug scheme,” he answers quietly.
I give a humorless laugh.
し
“If he thinks too much of himself, his head will roll. I don’t care about
the drugs; every inmate here eats out of the palm of my hand. But if
this guard touches what is mine, he will pay dearly.”
David nods quickly, fear shining in his eyes.
“Understood, boss.”

I move on, leaving him behind. I enter the cafeteria, and, bit by bit,
silence reigns: spoons stop moving, and murmurs die down. I give a
lopsided smile at these gestures–it feels so good to unsettle them.
They’ve become even more cautious after what happened.

I walk up to the counter. TJ looks up as he sees me approaching.
“TJ, make your best breakfast, a real hearty one. I want to feed my
love.”
He looks at me and nods; the other cooks spring into action. TJ starts
to turn around to prepare the tray, but I stop him with a sentence.
“You’ll receive your drugs today. The shipment arrived, and I’ll give
you your cut.”
His eyes and the eyes of the others glint with anticipation. I smile at
their excitement and turn my gaze toward the cafeteria. Suddenly, I
catch Navarro’s eyes, already staring at me. I give a short smile and
walk over to him.
“Hello, boys,” I greet them with a cold smile.
“Hello, Adrian,” Navarro responds, mimicking the gesture.
с
Ah, it’s so good to see someone who thinks so highly of himself.
“As I promised, you’ll receive your drugs today.” The table livens up
with satisfied murmurs.
I stare at Navarro hard. The smile vanishes from my face.

“But I want to give you a warning, Navarro.” My voice cuts through
the air.
I lean my hands on the table, I lean in slowly until I am inches from
his face, my eyes locked onto his like blades.
“Just because I consider you an ally doesn’t mean I’m going to turn a
Ex blind eye to your antics against my Enforcer. If you dare provoke him again, I will personally open your belly and fill this floor with blood.” I pause, letting the threat settle. “Play with me and you’ll see how
slow death can be.”
He tries to hold my gaze but falters; he looks away a moment later. A
satisfied smile forms on my lips as I pull back.
“It was good talking to you, boys.” My voice returns to being serene,
almost friendly.
I go back to the kitchen counter. TJ places a hearty tray in front of
me: scrambled eggs with ham, crispy bacon, grilled sausage, warm
bread with butter and jam, pan–seared bananas, and a large cup of
strong coffee. The smell is intense, so appetizing it makes my
stomach growl.
“Thanks, TJ.”

I grip the tray firmly and leave the cafeteria. I balance the weight
masterfully, walking toward my cell. The bars are open, just as I left
them; no one would dare enter here. If they did, they would already
be dead.
I walk in and find my love in exactly the same position I left him:
naked, face down on the bed. I have to control myself not to drool at
the tempting sight of his exposed, marked buttocks.
“I brought food, love. Let’s eat.” My voice comes out softer than I
planned.
He pushes himself up slowly, letting out a small groan of pain. The
sound makes my chest tighten with desire and devotion.
“Are you okay? Can you eat?” I ask, crouching before him and resting
the tray on his lap.
He looks at the food, then at me, suspiciously. This pulls a silly grin
from my face.
“This tray is quite loaded. Which means it’s for both of us, right?” He
arches an eyebrow.
“I couldn’t bring two trays, love,” I respond naturally.

He shakes his head, giving in.
“Fine. Let’s eat. I’m starving after smelling this.”
He starts to eat, and I just watch him, sitting on the floor in front of
him. He sighs, annoyed.
“Stop staring at me like I’m something precious,” he complains,
looking at me seriously.
“But you are precious, love. A god. A magnificent, sexy, hot being…”
“I’m not going to kiss you again just to shut you up,” he snaps back
firmly.
“Damn,” I mutter, and that draws an unexpected laugh from him.
I freeze. It’s the first time I’ve heard him truly laugh—not that
humorless laugh, but a sincere, clean, almost innocent one. My heart
races so fast I can barely breathe. I’m stunned, and I am never
stunned.
