Jaxen tightened his grip on Lily’s delicate wrist, causing her heartbeat to spiral out of control.
Then, in his deep, magnetic voice, he whispered into her ear, “From now on, this spot can only belong to me.”
He extended two fingers and gently tapped the spot between her eyebrows.
Lily instinctively nodded, but then belatedly realized something wasn’t quite right.
“We don’t really know each other that well…”
How had things escalated so quickly? How could they suddenly be at a point where she was expected to only think about him?
“We’ve slept together, kissed, and if that’s not familiar, then what is?” Jaxen replied, his breath warm against her ear.
The busy street around them suddenly felt much quieter, and Lily’s heart began to race, her fingers involuntarily curling.
She met Jaxen’s deep eyes, took a deep breath, and felt her ears flush.
After a short break at home, Lily planned to take Jaxen to the supermarket.
The house looked pristine, almost like a show home, but it lacked the warmth of daily life. She needed to buy some everyday essentials.
However, the thought of tonight made her nervous.
Last night, Jaxen had been so drunk that he had spent the night on the sofa. But what about tonight?
They were married now, so they would probably be living together, right?
Just as she was deep in thought, Lily’s phone suddenly rang.
Looking down, she saw a message from Elodie:
“I just landed. Want to grab dinner tonight?”
Lily hesitated, subconsciously glancing toward the room.
The man stood tall, having changed into fresh clothes, and walked out with long strides.
Lily quickly typed a reply: “It might not be convenient. I got married today.”
Elodie: “What’s going on?”
Lily: “I’ll explain later.”
Elodie, concerned: “Are you sure you weren’t tricked? Mateo is trash, but that doesn’t mean you should just give up and settle for any man.”
Lily bit her lip, glancing at Jaxen as he walked toward the bathroom. She lowered her head and typed back.
“It’s not just settling for any man. I saved his life.”
Elodie: “Did you offer your life in exchange? Are you really that old–fashioned? Got any photos? Send one over.”
Lily: “No.”
The only photo they had together was the one on the marriage certificate.

However, as soon as they got home, Jaxen had taken the certificate and locked it in the safe.
Elodie: “So, what’s his name? What’s your husband’s name?”
Lily: “Ja…”
Before she could type more, Jaxen’s enlarged face suddenly appeared in front of her.
“Who are you texting?”
His cool breath rushed at her from behind, and Lily instinctively tensed, quickly stuffing the phone in her pocket.
“A friend,” she said.
Jaxen didn’t ask any more questions, and they both left the house together.
Meanwhile, on the other side…
“Buzz buzz.”
Mateo’s phone, sitting on the table, suddenly rang. He saw that it was a call from Lily.
A smirk appeared at the corner of his lips.
Yesterday, he had held a press conference and publicly announced that he had replaced Lily with Eliza as his fiancee, settling the scandal at the hotel.
Now, Lily was calling him to win him back. Wasn’t this a bit too late?
Nevertheless, Mateo was still curious about what she might say this time to try to get him back.
By the fifth ring, Mateo finally answered.
To his surprise, the call was immediately disconnected.
The repetitive beeping of the ended call made his brows furrow.
What was going on?
Lily never hung up on him. Even when he intentionally ignored her calls, she would wait for it to ring six times before calling again.
Thinking about this, Mateo set the phone back on the table, waiting for it to light up again.
This time, he waited for a full two minutes, but the screen remained black.
Mateo clicked his tongue in annoyance. A flash of coldness flickered in his eyes.
So, Lily was playing games with him? Trying to get his attention with this trick?
She probably thought that he would call back out of curiosity.
Nice try, but it wouldn’t work.
Meanwhile, Lily, who was shopping at the supermarket, didn’t realize that her phone had unlocked and automatically dialed Mateo.
She had started to realize that her new husband, Jaxen, had a somewhat ethereal and distant aura about him, like he was not of this world.
To make Jaxen seem more grounded, Lily handed him the task of pushing the shopping cart while she quickly selected daily necessities.
He quietly followed behind her, and the scene looked quite harmonious.

Suddenly, Jaxen’s phone rang.
He paused, glanced at Lily as she walked ahead, and answered the call.
The voice on the other end was loud and raucous.
Josh’s voice boomed from the phone:
“Hey, Jaxen, didn’t you say you were getting married today? The party’s ready, where are you bringing the bride?”
Mateo frowned, his gaze falling on Lily’s back.
She was on tiptoe, trying to reach for the large container of laundry detergent on the top shelf.
The shelf was too high for her, and she was struggling a little. Her long hair flowed through the air, creating a graceful arc.
Jaxen held his phone, his voice low, “It’s too crowded. I’m worried it might scare her, so I’m not going.”
Josh laughed, “We’re not animals. Why are you being so protective? This is supposed to be the big day, and you’re not even coming? What’s the deal?”
Jaxen didn’t respond. He pushed the shopping cart toward Lily and easily helped her take the detergent down, placing it in the cart.
Lily looked back at him, smiling gratefully.
Jaxen gave a small smile in return, said nothing, and walked past her toward the meat section.
He picked out two steaks and added them to the cart.
On the phone, Josh’s voice continued: “Hey, Jaxen, are you even listening? Where are you? It’s so noisy over there.”
Jaxen replied nonchalantly, “I’m with my wife at the supermarket. You guys enjoy yourselves. Put the bill on me.”
There was a long silence on the other end for about seven or eight seconds, followed by Josh’s exclamation: “What the hell? I can’t believe you’re at the supermarket!”
Jaxen didn’t respond. He was probably tired of Josh’s chatter, so he just hung up the phone.
When Lily heard Jaxen say, “I’m with my wife,” her cheeks immediately flushed.
Who was he talking to? A friend?
“Do you want some soup?” Jaxen asked.
Lily snapped back to reality. “Huh?”
“I heard this one is very good for women’s health.”
Jaxen rested his chin on his hand, gesturing for the cashier to put the black chicken into the cart.
Lily furrowed her brows, “But, won’t black chicken be too much trouble to prepare?”
Jaxen’s gaze rested on her.
Her skin was very fair, and her long eyelashes hid her eyes. The first thing anyone would notice about her was her delicate waist, so slender it looked like it could break with a light touch.
His gaze deepened as he whispered, “If it helps you gain weight, it’s not a hassle.”
Lily’s heart softened.

But when she looked down at waist he was referring to, her face suddenly flushed red.
Jaxen chuckled lightly. “Let’s go. Time to check out and head home.”
His deep voice made Lily’s legs feel weak.
But once we’re married, sharing a bed is inevitable… isn’t it?
