Chapter 5: Let’s Destroy It Together
“Huh?”
Eliza looked at the person who spoke, shocked. “Spiked with what?”
The maid glanced over at Lily. “I just saw the second miss go to the kitchen and put something in your drink. It must have been some kind of drug!”
As soon as the maid finished speaking, several people’s faces changed.
The Foster family knew very well that three years ago, Eliza had been kidnapped because she had drunk spiked wine, and that was how she had been taken by the thugs.
Now that they were hearing the wine had been spiked again, Eliza’s face turned white, and the glass in her hand shattered on the floor.
The commotion hadn’t attracted much attention at first, but the sound of the wine glass shattering was so loud that people started looking over.
Eliza’s eyes reddened as she looked at Wren, who was walking toward her. “Mom…”
“I’m so scared…”
Wren understood exactly what Eliza was thinking and hurriedly patted her back. “Don’t be scared, it’s all in the past.”
Then, she looked at Lily. “Still the same, huh?”
There were many people around, and Wren didn’t want to cause a scene. She didn’t directly point fingers.
But Lily knew exactly what she meant.
Recalling the past, Lily suddenly wanted to laugh.
She didn’t expect Eliza to use the same trick twice. Was she trying to stab her in the same spot again?
“It wasn’t me.”
Lily glanced at the decanter with the wine in it. Eliza loved white wine, and this drink was specially prepared just for her. It seemed like it had been planned from the start.
“I did go to the kitchen, but I was looking for food, not to drug her.”
The maid spoke up. “But I saw it with my own eyes. The second miss put something in it. I swear it.”
The maid spoke with such conviction, like a weak person trying to stand up for justice,
People around them began whispering, and the rumors spread.
Wren was worried about the situation escalating. She knew that family matters were best kept behind closed doors. If outsiders heard about it, it would reflect badly.
Eliza seemed to realize what Wren was thinking. She gave her a gentle smile.
“Mom, I think this is just a misunderstanding.”
“Lily has been in prison for three years. She wouldn’t make the same mistake again. I believe she’s innocent.”
The room went silent.

Chapter 5: Let’s Destroy It Together
Lily had been in prison for three years? Wasn’t she supposed to be studying abroad?
Everyone in the high society knew that prison was far from their lives.
But they also knew that once you were linked to prison, it was a stain that would never come off. Not only would you never be able to enter politics, but even your relatives would be affected for generations.
The room was buzzing with whispers.
Eliza seemed to realize what she had said and quickly covered her mouth, looking guilty. “I drank too much and said something silly. Everyone, don’t take it seriously. How could my sister have been in prison?”
After what had just happened, it was hard to ignore her words, and it only made things seem even more suspicious.
The more Eliza tried to act innocent, the more it made it seem like she was guilty.
“Lily, you’ve just come back from abroad. Have you gotten over the jet lag? Today is our birthday. I specially prepared a gift for you. Would you like to see it?” Eliza was trying to salvage the situation.
Perhaps the noise downstairs was too loud because Mateo, who had been upstairs playing cards, was also alerted by the commotion.
When he came downstairs, he saw Eliza, looking fragile and pitiful, standing in the middle of the crowd, apologizing to Lily.
Her eyes were red, her hands anxiously clasped together as she nervously watched Lily’s reaction.
Lily turned to look at her.
Things like this had happened so many times before, but every time, Eliza managed to play the role of the innocent victim.
Lily pressed her lips together as the strange gazes from the crowd kept coming at her.
But what had she done wrong?
What had she done to deserve these false accusations? Why was she being framed by Eliza?
Was three years in prison not enough?
Saying she went to prison in front of all these people–wasn’t that just to watch her life fall apart?
Fine. Then let’s burn it all down together!
