After wrapping up their work, Celeste noticed that Kieran hadn’t let but was instead looking thoughtfully at Beck. Not knowing if the two of them had any private dealings, she asked, “What is it?
Previously, Kieran had seen that Beck liked Céleste but hadn’t pursed her, so he assumed he might no longer be interested.
But judging from today’s interaction, it was clear that Beck still liked Celeste very much and had no intention of giving up on her.
Kieran quickly realized that Beck likely already knew Celeste was divorced yet and possibly even knew who her husband
was.

After Kieran left, Beck chuckled and said, “That was the son of the Gibson family, right? I’d heard he was the spoiled and reckless type, but after interacting with him a few times, he actually seems pretty serious about work.” 1
Celeste thought he was just making casual conversation, so she responded, “He does take his work seriously. He’s never complained about pulling all–nighters when needed, and he’s never been late or left early. More importantly, he’s quite talented. Overall, he’s pretty good.”
After learning about Kieran’s background, Celeste had also assumed he came to YodaVision on a whim.
The fact that he’d stayed on this long had surprised her.
And on a daily basis, she found working with Kieran comfortable very different from the impression he gave the first time they met.
Though Beck seemed to be praising Kieran, he was actually probing Celeste’s attitude toward him. Hearing her positive comments about Kieran, Beck smiled without saying anything.
He’d heard that Kieran had come back to the country because he admired YodaVision’s programming language and joined the company because of it. 1

From the way Kieran looked at Celeste while they discussed work earlier, Beck could tell that Kieran deeply admired her professionally.
In fact, he looked up to her.
