Chapter 542

it’s just that if this drags on too
“Yeah,” Ruby couldn’t help but add, “waiting a few more days isn’t the issue. long, they might miss another decision window. If that really happens, who knows when they’ll actually get divorced.” 1
She basically said what everyone at the table was thinking. T
Even Lilian thought the same.
After all, Trevor and Celeste had already missed the decision window once before.
Still, though she was worried, Lilian didn’t sound too anxious. She said, “Alright, let’s stop asking about this. Just wait quietly for the result.”
Linda pouted. “Fine.”
Then she happily went back to eating.
The rest of them started chatting about other things. Clearly, none of them was too bothered that the divorce hadn’t been settled yet.
Wynn watched it all quietly. She didn’t say a word.
She knew the reason her family wasn’t anxious–they never once thought that Trevor didn’t want the divorce. 2
But she knew better.
The reason he hadn’t gone to finalize it these past few days… was because he no longer wanted to divorce Celeste. 9
Otherwise, no matter how busy he was, since he was already back in Baumond, taking 30 minutes to go sign the papers wouldn’t be difficult at all.
Over the next two or three days, Celeste stayed busy with work.
Still, even while working, she often checked her phone–just in case Trevor messaged her to go file for the divorce.
But by Friday afternoon that week, there was still no message.
Matthias knew she’d been waiting for Trevor’s call to go to the courthouse, and after an entire week passed with no word, he couldn’t help asking, “He still hasn’t messaged you?”
Celeste shook her head. “No.” 1
Matthias frowned, “What on earth is he so busy with? I heard he’s been in Baumond all week. Can’t he even spare half an hour?” 1
“I don’t know.”

They didn’t talk about it further and went back to work.
On Saturday morning, Celeste went to the hospital to visit her mother.
As soon as she walked out of the hospital, her phone rang. It was Trevor calling.
Seeing his name, she instinctively thought he was finally calling to set a time to get the divorce done. 3
But once she answered, what came through was, “Where are you?” 1
Celeste didn’t answer his question. Instead, she asked, “What’s up?” 1
“Jo’s been practicing the drums these past two weeks,” he said. “She’s pretty talented and wants you to come listen. Do you have time?”
Celeste was speechless.
She didn’t expect that that would be the reason for his call.
After a short pause, she said, “I’ve got something to do. Maybe next time.” 1
She was about to ask if he’d decided when they’d go file for the divorce, but before she could say it, the phone was snatched away by Jordyn.
“Mom, where are you right now? I’ve really improved. Can you please come and listen?” 1
When Celeste didn’t respond right away, Jordyn seemed to sense it, her tone instantly dropping. “Mom…”
Celeste tightened her grip on the phone. After a few seconds of silence, she finally said, “Alright. Where are you now?” 5
“I’m at home!” Jordyn brightened the moment she heard her mother agree. “Hurry and come, Mom!” 9
