Chapter 601

After fishing for more than half an hour, Jordyn lost interest and was instead completely captivated by the colorful coral reefs.
When she learned they weren’t allowed to collect any, she was disappointed for quite a while.
One of the amusement parks on the island was decorated in a strong punk style, which Jordyn loved.
After diving and having dinner, Celeste and Trevor accompanied Jordyn to the amusement park.
After playing a few rides, perhaps because Celeste had been staying with her the whole time, Jordyn tugged at her hand and said, “Mom, do you want to ride the Ferris wheel? Let’s ride the Ferris wheel, okay?”
Celeste actually did want to, as once they went up, they could overlook the entire island.
Hearing Jordyn say this, she nodded.
Jordyn then asked, “Dad, are you coming too?”
Trevor glanced at Celeste, then looked toward the Ferris wheel. “Sure.”
The lighting and decorations here were all filled with a punk vibe. 1
As the Ferris wheel slowly rose, the scenery spread out in full view. Jordyn’s eyes widened in surprise and excitement as she happily walked around, constantly looking outside.
By contrast, Trevor and Celeste were much quieter.
They also took in the night view of the island, but after a few glances, both withdrew their gaze.
Celeste felt that although most of the lights on the island were on and it looked beautiful, there were hardly any people. The vast amusement park felt like an empty city–too desolate.
After her excitement faded, Jordyn seemed to realize this too. Her smile dimmed slightly as she said, “It would be better if there were more people. With so few people, it feels kind of boring.”
Trevor smiled, picked up Jordyn as she leaned into his arms, and said, “After a while, there’ll be lots of tourists coming here for vacation. When that happens, it’ll be lively. We can come back then.”
Only then did Jordyn cheer up. “Okay!”
As she spoke, she stayed in Trevor’s arms and reached out for Celeste to hold her. “Mom, you have to come together with us then.”
Hearing this, Celeste lowered her eyes and said, “If I have time, I’ll come with you.”
That’s what she said, but she knew that once this island opened to the public, the three of them would never come here together again.
To keep things between her and him from becoming known, Trevor would only agree to let her accompany Jordyn here while the island was still closed to outsiders.
As she was thinking this, she lifted her head and met Trevor’s gaze.
She paused. Before she could react, Trevor smiled slightly and suddenly asked her, “What do you think of this place?”

They had spent the entire day accompanying Jordyn. In reality, even when the two of them were facing each other, aside from what was necessary, they barely spoke. 2
She didn’t initiate conversation, and although Trevor’s attitude toward her seemed gentle, he rarely spoke either.
Celeste didn’t know why he was asking. She turned her face away and answered honestly, “It’s pretty good. It’ll be a great vacation destination.”
Hearing this, Trevor said, “If you like it, once it opens, bring more friends over.”
Celeste didn’t respond.
At that moment, the Ferris wheel came to a stop.
Celeste came back to herself. With Jordyn in her arms, she couldn’t get up, so Trevor stepped over and took Jordyn from her.
By then, sleepiness had already crept into Jordyn’s eyes, but she still remembered how much she’d been looking forward to staying in the underwater villa that night.

She yawned repeatedly yet refused to sleep, stubbornly holding on until they reached the underwater villa before finally giving in. 3
