The next morning, Celeste finally received a reply from Trevor.
“Sorry, I only just saw your missed call. I have something very important to handle tomorrow. As for the divorce, we’ll have to find another opportunity.”
After reading his message, Celeste found she had nothing left to reproach him for.
After all, this time, she too had missed the chance to go and get the divorce certificate because of her own work
She didn’t reply.
That evening, Celeste attended a banquet with Matthias.
Wynn and her family were also present, as was Beck. (1)
As soon as Beck found an opening, he came over to greet her.
“Good evening.”
Celeste nodded. “It’s been a while.”
“It has,” Beck said, his gaze lingering on her face.
“Have you been very busy lately? Not sleeping well?”
Celeste nodded. “A bit busy.”
He had always been paying attention to her divorce from Trevor and knew that today was the final day of their decision period.
Which meant that Celeste and Trevor were still legally husband and wife.
They still hadn’t managed to get divorced.
These days, he didn’t socialize much with Trevor or Wynn anymore, so he wasn’t as clear about what was going on between them as before.
Besides, in the past, Trevor flying all over the world all year–round had been the norm, so he hadn’t thought much of it when he had been traveling abroad frequently over the past few months.
He said, “I heard from Miles that Trevor might not be back for a few more days.”
At the mention of Trevor, Celeste’s tone cooled. She simply gave a soft hum.
Beck didn’t continue the topic.
Just then, Matthias returned, and the three of them chatted for a while longer before Beck excused himself due
to other matters.
Wynn, Harvey, and the others were all present.
Although Celeste didn’t pay much attention to them, they had been watching her closely the entire time.

Seeing how close she seemed to Matthias, Linda ground her teeth in anger.
“She’s obviously so close with Matthias, yet she’s still clinging to Trev. Shameless!”
Wynn and Lilian stayed silent, but they shot Linda a look, signaling her not to talk nonsense in public.
Recently, Wynn, Lilian, and Harvey had all been in terrible moods.
Apart from the fact that Trevor and Celeste still hadn’t officially divorced, there was another reason.
Half a month ago, after Trevor went on a business trip to Andostan, he had never once contacted Wynn.
Even when he returned to the country some time ago, he hadn’t reached out to her.
If it was really because he was too busy, then how did he still manage to make time to accompany Jordyn so often? 2
By now, regardless of whether Trevor and Celeste were divorced or not, and regardless of the reasons, one thing was very clear–Trevor was no longer as invested in her as before. He was even in a state of emotional withdrawal. (1
Celeste was unaware of any of this.
After finishing work–related conversations with Matthias, she left the banquet with him.
Three days later, Celeste got out of work late that day. When she arrived home, she noticed a car parked outside her door.
When she saw the license plate number, she paused.
Before she could say anything, Trevor stepped out of the car. “You’re back.”
Before Celeste could respond, Jordyn came running out of the house.
“Dad!”
After calling out to her father, she noticed Celeste too, and immediately threw herself into Celeste’s arms.
“Mom, you’re off work!”
Celeste had just hummed a response when Jordyn said excitedly, “Dad just got off the plane and came straight here to pick me up. Mom, since you’re back too, let’s go home together with Dad!” (2)
