Wynn smiled. “I understand. Thank you, Mr. Collins.”

That afternoon, Celeste received a call from Jordyn. She said she wanted to eat out and asked if Celeste could come with her. 1
Jordyn had already been on holiday for several days, but because Celeste had been busy with work, she hadn’t had time to spend with her.
As for Jordyn going out with Wynn a couple of days earlier, Celeste knew about it.
She happened to be free that evening, so she agreed.
That night, she drove to the address Jordyn had sent her.
As soon as she got out of the car, Jordyn ran toward her from not far away, with Trevor following behind.
Seeing Trevor, Celeste paused slightly. 1
When Jordyn threw herself at her, Celeste gently patted her head and lowered her head to greet her.
After the mother and daughter finished exchanging pleasantries, Trevor finally spoke. “It’s cold outside. Let’s go in first.”
Celeste said nothing and was led into the restaurant by Jordyn.
Both Celeste and Trevor had eaten at this restaurant before, and the manager recognized them.
Seeing them appear together and seeing “Mr. Fleming’s daughter” affectionately holding Celeste’s hand, the manager was visibly shocked, clearly not expecting them to have such a relationship in private. (1)
Celeste noticed the surprise in the manager’s eyes.
Some time ago, when Trevor accompanied her and Jordyn shopping, she had already been surprised. She didn’t expect that now, with the three of them dining together, he still didn’t avoid attention at all.
It was as if he truly didn’t care whether their relationship would be exposed. (2
After entering the private room and ordering dishes, it was still mostly Celeste and Jordyn talking. Trevor only occasionally joined in, mostly just watching the mother and daughter talk.
Before the food was served, Jordyn went to the restroom.
Trevor set down his cup and looked at Celeste. “How have you been thinking about the matter of not divorcing for now?” [2
“It’s fine,” Celeste replied.
He didn’t seem surprised by her answer. He simply nodded.
After that, silence fell between them again.
A moment later, Jordyn returned, and conversation resumed in the room.
During the meal, Jordyn suddenly remembered something. “Mom, when are you going on holiday?”
“I’m not sure yet. Why?”
“It’s nothing. I just hope you can come home sooner.”
Then she asked, “Mom, when you’re on holiday, you’ll have time to move back home, right?” 29
Celeste paused mid–bite, glanced at Trevor, then withdrew her gaze and was about to speak when Trevor spoke first.

“Once your mom finishes her work, she’ll come back.”
Jordyn was delighted. “Yay! Then, Mom, you have to take your holiday soon!”
“…Okay,” Celeste replied. (2)
After that, they changed the subject.
After dinner, Celeste still needed to return to the office.
Not long after she got into the car, she received a message from Trevor.
“This year, you may need to come back for the New Year.”
Celeste froze, then frowned. Just as she was about to reply, another message came in.
“Jo is a bit older now. If you’re not there for the New Year, she’ll definitely start to suspect something.” (7)
After reading the messages, Celeste stopped typing. (1)
She sat in silence for a long while before replying, “I understand.” (7)
After her message was sent, Trevor didn’t reply again. 6
