Chapter 169

Mia moved back home with her family to start the preparation of moving to Singapore

It felt strange packing up again. Strange, but also somehow relieving

Her interview was just a week away

She still didn’t understand how Ethan had managed to pull this off for her. Or more specifically, how his friend had managed it. The company was huge. Not the kind that took in people without years of experience and connections. Mia barely had the confidence to believe she belonged in a place like that

But Ethan’s friend had promised her she would get the job. Just like that. With full assurance

Still, a promise wasn’t a contract. Mia was too used to life disappointing her to ever trust things too quickly

So if this didn’t work out, she’d keep applying. There were other places. Other chances. She had a child to think about. She would take whatever she had

  1. to

But deep down, under all the planning, worry, and pretending to be strongsomething else had been eating at her

The dreams

She hadn’t told anyone. Not her mom. Not Lily. Not Ethan. She was scared they would think she was crazy

Maybe she was

But the dreams weren’t normal. They weren’t the kind you forget as soon as you wake up. They stuck with her. Crawled under her skin and refused to

leave. And worsethey came true

Mia blinked slowly as she sat on her bed, rubbing the back of her neck

It started small. Three years ago. She had a dream about her sister, Lily getting into a car accident. She remembered waking up, shaking, terrified

She didn’t dare say it out loud

A few months later, it happened. And she blamed herself everyday for not warning her sister

Lily’s car was hit after a van ran a red light. She had been in the hospital for three weeks

It is freaking crazy, finding out she saw the accident before it happened. It was fucking insane

So yeah, no one needs to freaking know

That should have been the sign to talk to someone. Anyone. But she didn’t

Then came the dream about the robbery near her mom’s shop. In that dream, her mom had gone outside to help someone who was screamingand she got shot

Mia woke up gasping, her shirt soaked with sweat. She had called her mom that same morning, begged her not to step outside for any reason that week. Her mom had barely listened

Three days later, there was a robbery two shops away from her mom’s store. A shopkeeper had screamed for help

According to her mom, she had wanted to go check when she remembered Mia’s voice in her head

She stayed inside. And she was safe

Mia shivered at the memory. That time, her mom had just stared at her speechless

Chapter 169

Was she some kind of prophet now? Was shepsychic? A seer? That sounded ridiculous just thinking about it. She chuckled to herself quietly

This wasn’t funny. It was starting to freak her out. She couldn’t talk about it out loudbecause saying it out loud made it real. And she wasn’t ready for real. Real meant something was wrong with her

When she was younger, it had been different

She used to have dreams, too, just not like this

Back then, they were more like movies. Dreams where she was saving people, breaking into dark places and leading children, men and women out of danger. She would wake up sweating but proud, like a hero in some comic book

In those dreams, they would call for her. People would scream her name. She would find themalways. Every time

She used to think it was because she read too many fantasy books or maybe watched too many action shows before bed. That was all it was. She had even told her grandfather once, I think I’m a superhero when I sleep.”

Her grandfather had smiled at her and told her she was special

Mia didn’t read much meaning into it

Then the dreams stopped

Just like that. Nothing. For years

And she thought it was just a childhood phase

But now? Now it was different. These weren’t stories. These weren’t dreams she could wake up from and shake off. They were real..

Mia sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the wall in front of her, her arms wrapped around herself

She bit her lower lip, the emotion climbing higher in her chest

She didn’t want this. She didn’t ask for it. She just wanted to be normal. To focus on Aiden

Maybe giving birth changed something in her. Maybe becoming a mother flipped a switch she didn’t know existed. Or maybe this had always been inside her. Hiding. Waiting

Whatever it wasit was here now. And it was getting stronger

But she couldn’t think about that now

She had packing to do. She had interviews to prepare for. She had to find a way to smile for Aiden and make him feel safe and excited for the new chapter they were about to start

Stillthe thought wouldn’t leave her mind

What if the next dream was about him?.

Can’t be…

She hasn’t seen him in years and it will stay that way
