Mia knocked on her brother’s door with trembling hands. Her knuckles hit the wood harder than she meant to, but she couldn’t stop shaking. Her chest rose and fell too fast, her breathing uneven, her palms sweaty
She felt like she would fall apart if Ethan didn’t open that door right away.
It swung open after a moment, and Ethan’s face appeared. Surprise spread over his features immediately when he saw her standing there.
“Mia?”
Her lips parted, but no words came at first. She looked at him with wide, frightened eyes. “Ethan,” she finally whispered, her voice shaky, like she was barely holding herself together.
Without hesitating, Ethan reached out and took her arm, pulling her inside. He closed the door quickly behind them. He led her to sit on his bed, his hand steady on her shoulder.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, lowering himself in front of her so he could see her face.
Her lips wobbled, her throat tight as she whispered, “I have to go to ABL. I have to stop him.”
Ethan froze, staring at her. His brows pulled together, his mouth parting in confusion. “Stop who, Mia?”
Her teeth sank into her lip as a tear slid down her cheek. She tried to stop it, but she couldn’t. Her lips shook as she whispers his name “Alex.”
“Oh, fuck.”
Ethan looked at her like he wanted to believe she was just overreacting, but he knew her too well. He knew what her dreams meant.
“You had a dream about him?” he asked.
Mia nodded quickly. Her chest rose and fell with shallow breaths.
Ethan cursed again. “Mia, your dreams were never this frequent. Fuck.” He checked the clock on his wall and shook his head. “It’s 7 a.m., Mia. He’s probably still in his house getting ready to go to work.”
“No, no,” she said quickly, standing up on shaky legs. “He’s at the company. He has a meeting. He’s flying out this morning. I have to stop-” Her words stumbled out, rushed, panicked, as she was already walking to the door, already pulling it open.
“Mia,” Ethan called, following her.
“Call him then!”
“I tried! His number isn’t going through. His mom’s number too. I don’t have Jullian’s number, and even if I did, they can’t make calls. They’re in serious meetings.”

“Please watch Aiden for me,” she said, not even looking back.
“Mia-”
But she was already out of the door, her feet moving fast.

The street was quiet, her head turn side to side as she observe her environment. Her pulse was thundering in
her ears.
At the junction, a car came into sight, and she didn’t even hesitate. She waved it down, yanked the door open, and slipped inside.
Her legs bounced against the floor as the car pulled off, heading in the direction of ABL. She hugged herself tightly, her fingers digging into her arms. She couldn’t sit still.
Please still be there, she begged silently. Please, God, please.
She wiped her wet cheeks with the back of her hand and kept bouncing her knees, unable to stop. Her whole body was jittery, restless, like if she sat still, something terrible would happen.
The moment the car pulled up across the huge glass building, she fumbled her hands into her bag, paid the driver quickly, and jumped out. She didn’t even wait for change. She crossed the street with fast steps.
The lobby wasn’t as busy as it usually was during full work hours, but there were still people around.
Mia ignored the way one lady looked her up and down, probably wondering why she was dressed in just a polo shirt and jeans. She didn’t care.
The security guards glanced at her too, but they knew her. They looked at her a little strangely but didn’t stop her. She didn’t even acknowledge them.
She pressed the elevator button with a shaky hand and stepped inside the moment it opened. Her reflection in the glass walls showed her red–rimmed eyes, her pale face, the way her lip trembled. She looked like a
mess.
She didn’t care.
She knew exactly what floor to go to. ABL had an entire floor just for conferences and meeting rooms. That had to be where Alex was.
The elevator dinged, the doors sliding open, and Mia stepped out, her eyes scanning everywhere. People moved around with files and laptops. It wasn’t crowded, but it wasn’t empty either.
Her heart jumped when she spotted Mr. Felix. Relief almost washed her clean, though guilt pricked her too. She still owed this man an apology.
“Mr. Felix?” she called softly, her voice hoarse.
He turned, his face instantly confused when his eyes landed on her. “Mia?”
She gave a small, shaky smile. “Good morning.”

“What are you doing here?” he asked, his brows furrowed. His eyes darted over her outfit. “And why are you dressed like this?”
“I uh-” she tried….
“Are you okay?” he asked, his concern obvious now.
Mia nodded quickly, hiding her trembling hands behind her.
“Is the meeting still going on?” she asked, trying to sound calm, though her voice cracked.
Mr. Felix looked at her strangely, then nodded slowly. “Yes… it’s still going on. What’s going on, Mia?”
“Is Alex still here?” she asked, her voice urgent.
Mr. Felix’s eyes went wide. He looked around quickly, like he was terrified someone had heard her. His voice dropped to a hiss. “Why are you calling the CEO by his first name?”
For a second, she almost laughed at how panicked he looked. He was probably trying to protect her.
“Please,” she whispered instead. “Where is the meeting taking place?”
He hesitated, staring at her like he wanted to press harder. But something in her eyes must have convinced him.
“Hall A5,” he finally stammered out.
But before he could say anything else, Mia was already moving, walking quickly down the hall.
She followed the numbers along the corridor, her heart hammering harder with each step. She heard noise coming from further down, voices echoing faintly. She went that way.
Mia had no plan, not really. At first, she thought she would just wait for him until the meeting ended. But standing still wasn’t possible. Her body wouldn’t let her…..She needed to see him
As she got closer she saw a group of people standing outside a door, some flipping through papers, some talking quietly. Security stood nearby, watching everything.
Her steps slowed. Security will not let her inside.
Then her eyes caught a familiar face, Zoe…. Great!
Zoe was probably an assistant or secretary to one of the executives. It’s the only reason she will be here.
Zoe’s head lifted, and their eyes locked. Mia’s heart drops. She didn’t want to deal with this right now.
Zoe started walking toward her, a frown already on her face.
“Turner, what are you doing here?” Zoe demanded.
“None of your business,” Mia said flatly, her eyes already fixed past her, on the conference room door.

“Not now, Zoe,” Mia cut her off, not even sparing her another look. Her heart was racing too fast to waste time on her.
She walked past Zoe, but Zoe’s hand shot out, grabbing her arm, trying to yank her back.
Mia whipped around.
“Touch me again, Zoe,” she hissed, her voice low but deadly, “and I swear to God I will wipe your face with this floor. I fucking dare you to touch me again.”
Zoe froze, shock flashing across her face. She raises her hands up, taking a step back.
Mia gave her one last glare before turning around and walking straight toward the conference room. She would wait. She didn’t care if people stared.
As if her prayers had been heard, the door opened soon after. The meeting seems to have ended.
Jullian walked out first. His eyes went wide when she saw Mia. “Mia?”
Before she could say more, Alex’s mom stepped out. And then Alex.
The moment Mia’s eyes landed on him, all the fear, all the panic inside her exploded.
She didn’t think….She didn’t care who was watching. She ran straight into his arms.
And without hesitation, without question, Alex wrapped his arms around her tightly, holding her close.
It was enough.
It was everything.
He was fine.
He was here.
