Chapter 267
Mia told Alex everything she saw, she didn’t stop until she got every single detail out of her chest.
She was still sitting on his lap on the couch in his office, her body pressed into his.
Alex didn’t interrupt her once. He just held her, his hand rubbing her back, nodding as she spoke, his jaw was tight but his eyes were soft as he stares at the woman sitting on his lap
When she finished, there was silence.
“Okay,” Alex said finally, his tone firm, leaving no room for argument. “Fine. I won’t go.” He stared right into her eyes when he said it, and Mia’s chest loosened a little, her heart slowing down.
Before she could even thank him, a knock sounded on the door. Mia flinched. Her first instinct was to jump off his lap, but Alex’s arms locked around her waist, holding her in place.
“Alex, let me down,” she hissed, her cheeks heating up, her eyes darting toward the door.
“No,” Alex said casually, a little amused.
The door opened, and Mia’s heart jumped into her throat. She buried her face into Alex’s neck, wishing the floor would just swallow her whole.
Alex only chuckled softly, the sound vibrating against her ear.
“Mama? Papa?” a little voice shouted happily.
Mia’s head snapped up immediately. Aiden.
He runs toward them, his small legs moving so fast like he couldn’t wait another second to reach them.
Alex finally let her slip off his lap as Aiden crashed into them, trying to hug both at once.
“Baby, how are you here?” Mia asked, confused. She looked behind him and saw Ethan standing there. And beside him, Esther Blackwell and Jullian.
Ethan shrugged. “He woke up and cried for the both of you. He wouldn’t let me get him ready for school. I had no choice but to bring him here.”
Mia nodded, then turned her full attention back to her son, brushing his hair back gently. “When did you become so clingy, huh?” she teased softly. But Aiden wasn’t even listening. He was too busy grabbing his father’s face with his tiny hands, giggling when Alex playfully frowned at him.
Esther’s voice came next, soft and worried. “Mia, are you okay?”
Mia froze for a second before she turned back to sit properly. She glanced at Alex, and of course, he was already staring at her. Their eyes stayed locked for a moment, and she saw the concern, the silent question he didn’t even have to ask out loud.

Chapter 267
“I’m fine.” Mia said quickly. “I… I had, uh… a nightmare about the conference Alex was supposed to attend today.”

“Seriously?” Jullian asked, his eyebrows shooting up. Then his lips curved into a grin. “If this turns out to be true, I’m opening a shrine for you. We’d make so much money.”
The room burst into laughter. Even Ethan chuckled.
Mia chuckled too, shaking her head as she looked at Jullian. “I’m sorry to spoil such a perfect plan, but my dream thing only works with people I’m connected to.”
She could feel Alex’s gaze still heavy on her. Her eyes darted back to him, and sure enough, his eyes were locked on hers.
Their connection was cut when Esther spoke. “So you’re not going, right?” she asked Alex directly.
Alex finally tore his eyes away from Mia and answered, “Yeah. I’m not.”
Jullian let out a low whistle. “Damn, Turner. You really have my stubborn brother, who wouldn’t have listened even if an angel descended to warn him, agreeing just like that?”
Mia laughed lightly, her cheeks warming. She peeked at Alex again, and this time he winked at her.
Her stomach flipped. She looked away quickly, shy, pretending she hadn’t just felt her heart race out of control.
Later, Alex stood at the entrance of his mansion as Mia and Aiden arrived, a few bags in hand. They are going to be spending the weekend here.
“Thanks for coming over,” Alex said softly, watching her as she adjusted Aiden’s little backpack on her shoulder.
“I did it for Aiden,” Mia said quickly, lowering her gaze.
Alex nodded. “Okay.”
Mia hesitated. Her teeth caught her bottom lip. Then, softly, she added, “And for you.”
Alex’s eyes lifted instantly, locking onto her. His gaze was sharp, intense. “Are you trying to play games with me, Turner?”
She shook her head. “No. I’m just… trying to be careful.”
They stood there, staring at each other….Their eyes burned into each other, and it felt like time stopped, like no one else existed in the world except the two of them.
“You guys need to see this!” Jullian’s voice cut through, breaking the moment.
“What’s going on?” Alex asked, his hand resting on Mia’s back as they followed Jullian into the living room.

Chapter 267
Besucher
Esther was already seated there, Aiden sitting on her lap playing with her phone. Her eyes were glued wide to the television screen,
“What happened?” Mia asked, stepping closer.
“Look”
She stares at the screen
It was the conference. The very same one Alex had been scheduled to attend.
It was just like she saw it.
An old employee. Revenge. A grudge.
The details spilled across the screen….how the man had smuggled a bomb into the conference room, how he blamed two CEOs for the death of his family.
Mia froze. Her whole body went cold, her heart hammering against her ribs.
Aiden tugged her shirt, but she couldn’t move.
A moment later, the anchor confirmed it. People had died, others were injured.
“Oh my God,” Esther whispered, her hand flying to her chest. Then, without hesitation, she stood up and rushed over to Mia, pulling her into a tight hug.
Mia stiffened for a second, surprised. Then her arms lifted slowly, hugging Esther back, sinking into her warmth.
“Thank you,” Esther whispered against her ear, her voice trembling.
When Esther pulled away, her hands cradled Mia’s face, and she smiled, wide and genuine, her eyes wet with relief.
“I don’t know if I should thank you, worship you, or bow to you,” Jullian said, his voice breaking the moment.
“Stop being weird,” Alex muttered, shaking his head.
“This whole thing is freaking weird!” Jullian argued, his hand raking through his hair. “Just–how is this possible? How is this humanly possible? It’s insane. But still–thank you, Mia. It’s freaking me the hell out, but thank you.”
Mia nodded, her chest still heavy. She turned to Alex then, their eyes meeting again. Her lips curved into the faintest smile, and she reached for his hand.
Her fingers slid into his, warm and sure.
“Come with me,” she said softly.
And without waiting for an answer, she tugged him gently.
