“Alright, Janelle. I’ll wait for your good news,” Janice said, feeling relieved hearing Janelle’s promise. Her future would be limitless once she was selected and became the future heir’s trusted aide. ‘What can a mere Raven stir up?‘ she thought.
Meanwhile, after hanging up, Janelle quickly formulated a plan. She decided to visit Samantha to gather more information about Raven. Samantha was Keegan’s most trusted person. She held a position of high authority in Deariton, and countless people were eager to curry favor with her.
With her status, Janelle could not even approach her directly. She had to ask her master to accompany her. Samantha was slightly surprised by their visit. After all, Thomas Muller was older than Samantha, and his qualifications were far from impressive. After struggling for years, he had barely passed the mid–level pharmacist assessment.
Samantha was Keegan’s most favored disciple. She naturally had little interaction with someone of Thoma’s caliber. When Samantha, while working on a new pharmaceutical formula, heard of their arrival, she felt somewhat irritated and reluctantly took off her white lab coat and activated the password lock to her workstation before heading out.
Thomas and a young woman were waiting in the conference room. The woman was Janelle. Samantha recognized her right away, not because of her exceptional talent or being valued by the four masters, but because she was from a tertiary city and a lowest–ranking disciple of the Brown family.
Although Samantha did not care about them, she greeted them courteously, “Mr. Muller, what brings you here today?
Thomas lowered his head, carefully hiding the jealousy and calculation in his eyes, and said respectfully, “Miss Mathis, I’ve heard that the four lords are selecting several talented martial artists to train them to be trusted aides. In time, these trusted aides will serve the future heir. May I know if the future heir is returning to Deariton soon?
Samantha remained composed, sizing up Thomas before answering indifferently, “The matters of the four lords are beyond me. I act on orders and am unaware of any other information. Mr. Muller, are you here today solely to inquire about such a matter?”
Seeing Samantha being very tight–lipped, Janelle was a little upset. She immediately thought of an idea and boldly stepped forward, saying, “Samantha, I know the lords are looking for talents. I happen to know an exceptionally talented martial artist. I’m sure you’ll be very impressed if you meet her. Will you give her a chance?”
After making her request, Janelle carefully watched Samantha’s expression, hoping for a favorable
