Chapter 934
Just as the guard was about to teach these insolent nobodies a lesson, a figure appeared in the distance. As soon as the guard saw who it was, he straightened up, puffed out his chest, and saluted with respect.
He greeted, “Boss! You’re here!”
“What’s all this commotion?” the head of the control post asked impatiently as he glanced at Raven and the Cloudshadow Sect members behind her.
Suddenly, he paused mid–step, his gaze fixing on one of the young men.
He asked, “Wait… aren’t you that loser who spent over ten years training and still couldn’t get past the mid–level? Weren’t you begging in some tertiary city?”
The head of the control post recognized the youth, a mocking glint in his eyes as he laughed, “If you’re begging, at least act like a beggar.
“If you know you’re trash, accept your fate. Now you’re causing a scene here? Do you have any idea how serious the consequences could be?”
Seeing that his boss looked down on Raven and her group just as much as he did, the guard immediately chimed in, “Boss, these lowlifes are all from Frihamen City. When you arrived, they were shouting about breaking into Forlunda City.
“This woman here was the loudest. She’s probably banking on her looks to seduce you into letting them through the back door!”
“You?” The head turned to appraise Raven with a sneer. When ho
saw her face clearly, lust flashed in his eyes as he added, “Your status is low, for sure.
“But you look decent enough. If you’re willing to stay with me as my mistress, I might consider sparing the people behind you. But forget about entering a higher–tier city. With your background, you’re not qualified to set foot in one.
“And you, an ordinary woman with no cultivation, would only end up getting bullied and used as a plaything by the elites up there. You’d be better off sticking with me. Obey me, and I’ll make sure you live a comfortable life.”
Seeing no sign of a warrior’s aura on Raven, he immediately assumed she was just another delusional woman who thought her looks could get her to the
top.
He thought, ‘What a joke. The elites in those upper cities aren’t idiots. A woman like Raven would only end up as someone’s toy, never the wife of a powerful clan’s heir.‘
“Bastard! How dare you insult Lady Valor!” Before Raven could say anything, a Cloudshadow Sect member behind her roared in fury, “We will get through today. If you dare stand in our way. We’ll show no mercy!”
“Heh. You?” the head of the control post laughed.
He cast a mocking glance over the people behind Raven, his gaze lingering the longest on that same youth as he spat, “A bunch of weaklings barely at the mid–level dare to make threats?
“And you, weren’t you originally from a secondary city? You were so useless that your family kicked you out. You’re the laughingstock of every warrior in that city.
“And even after getting thrown out, you still have the nerve to show your face? Anyone else would’ve ended themselves in shame by now.”
The more he spoke, the more he relished it–completely intoxicated by the pleasure of trampling these “inferior” people into the dirt.
