One of the underground faction leaders exploded with rage, exclaiming, “This is outrageous! These mongrels dare to stir up trouble in Forlunda City? We have to wipe them out completely! If word of this spreads, how are we supposed to save face?”
With that, he stormed out in a huff, leaving the other family heads behind to exchange uneasy
glances..
Naturally, none of them took Raven seriously. To them, this was nothing more than the last hurrah of a bunch of nobodies. Any underground boss could send a few men to wipe them out effortlessly.
Still, they all agreed with what the previous man had said–these reckless mongrels needed to be taught a lesson. They had to make an example out of them so that the lower cities would learn to stay in their place.
While the powers of Forlunda City were receiving news that Raven had broken through the checkpoint with her people, Janice was still preparing for the tournament.
When she heard the news, she was stunned for a moment before bursting into hysterical laughter. “That wretched girl really has a death wish!”
She thought, ‘That Cloudshadow Sect may have had free rein in Frihamen City, but compared to the elite fighters of Forlunda City, they’re no different from worthless trash.
‘Even if Raven and her crew managed to kill those checkpoint guards, they could not handle the elites raised by Forlunda’s major families.”
Janice was ecstatic, believing that Raven was even more foolish than she’d imagined.
She had initially thought that if Raven lay low and stayed on the run, the major families of Forlunda might never find her. But to her surprise, Raven had brazenly broken into the checkpoint, killed people, and seized the entire office.
‘She might as well have sent out invitations. It’s like she’s begging to be hunted down,‘ Janice sneered inwardly. How utterly stupid.
The excitement twisted Janice’s already average features into something grotesque. She clenched her fists like a madwoman, muttering under her breath, “Perfect! Perfect! Dad, watch over me and Janelle from above–we’re finally going to avenge you. This time, Raven is as good as dead!”
The thought of wiping out her enemy so easily filled her with manic glee. She could already picture Raven lying in a pool of her own blood.
“No- I have to see that wretched girl die with my own eyes!” Janice cried.
She knew full well that Raven’s arrogance would soon get her killed by the families‘ elite fighters. But if she didn’t witness Raven’s downfall herself, how
could she ever face her father’s spirit?
So, Janice stopped her training, changed into a low–profile black outfit, and drove straight toward the city outskirts.
At the same time, Forlunda City’s underground factions began assembling their forces. They were preparing to annihilate Raven and her people.
Meanwhile, Raven led the Cloudshadow Sect down the main road toward the city, their pace unhurried and steady.
The sect members walked behind her, eyes wide as they scanned their surroundings, barely able to contain their excitement. Some commented, “I can’t believe we actually made it to Forlunda City!”
“It’s true,” others nodded. “Forlunda is way more magnificent than Frihamen. No wonder these so–called secondary city people look down on us.”
“We’re finally back…” murmured one young man who had once been exiled from Forlunda by his own family.
Compared to the younger ones, the elders remained calm and composed.
One of them said, “Lady Valor, traveling like this is too inconvenient. When we get the chance, we really ought to get a few more vehicles.”
