Chapter 950
Samantha already had Raven’s nomination papers ready to go. The moment that girl stepped foot in Deariton, boom–instant Scion vassal status
No surprise there. When Keegan handpicks a fighter, they get the red–carpet treatment. The others? Tough luck.
“Janice, you gotta get out of Forlunda City. Now.” Janelle’s voice crackled with urgency through their comm link. “Lay low for a while. We can’t give Raven an opening to come after you.”
After Raven had already taken over Forlunda’s factions? Taking Janice out would be child’s play for her now.
“Listen to me.” Janelle’s tone turned deadly calm. “That bitch who murdered our father? She’ll never kneel before Scion. I’ll put her in the ground before she gets that chance.”
After calming Janice down, Janelle’s mind started racing.
‘Perfect timing,‘ she thought. Most of the city’s lords were away–this was her golden opportunity.
‘If we take out Raven Valor before she hits Deariton…‘ Janelle thought, her nails digging into her palms. ‘We could finish her off quietly. No witnesses, no loose ends.’ Just like that, their biggest headache would disappear forever.
A cold smile twisted Janelle’s lips as she made her decision. ‘That bitch had it coming–murdering my father, tearing my family apart. Oh, I will make sure
Raven suffers before the end.‘
Janelle knew Raven was dangerous–wickedly smart and capable. She needed a solid plan to take her out before Raven reached Deariton.
Just as she was plotting, Samantha came rushing up, still in her alchemy gear. The woman zeroed in on Janelle like a heat–seeking missile.
“Janelle,” Samantha cut straight to the chase, “you said you could track Raven Valor. Got anything yet?”
Janelle’s pulse jumped. ‘Keep it cool,‘ she told herself, forcing her face neutral.
She’d just told Heaven about this yesterday. Now Samantha was breathing down her neck.
‘That Raven chick must be someone big,‘ she thought. ‘But why? How the hell did some nobody commoner catch Mr. Brown’s eye?‘
Burning with jealousy, Janelle pasted on a sycophantic smile. “Relax, Samantha. I reached out the second you asked, but she hasn’t hit me back yet. Probably swamped.
“She’ll reply ASAP. Soon as I hear anything, you’ll be the first to know.”
“Forget waiting.” Samantha’s tone left no room for argument. “Just give me her location, I’ll fetch her myself.”
No way was Samantha risking this mission. Keegan had personally tasked her his usual poker face actually showing interest for once. That alone screamed “don’t screw this up.”
Keegan never showed favoritism. Not to anyone. Yet he’d mentioned Raven Valor’s name three times in their briefing. Three. That meant Raven wasn’t just important–she was special.
Samantha couldn’t afford to screw this up. The thought of Raven running into trouble on the road to Deariton gnawed at her. ‘If any her…‘ she thought. ‘Hell, how am I supposed to face Lord Keegan then?‘

The social ladder in Forreb was brutal. Someone from the lower cities? They’d be lucky to just get spit on. Worst case? They’d end up in a ditch before sunrise.
“Samantha, wait!” Janelle Larsson grabbed her arm. “You’re Keegan’s top disciple. You can’t just bail on Deariton now!”
“Like hell I can’t,” Samantha snapped, shaking him off. “What if Raven Valor encounters danger on the way to Deariton?
