Chapter

I walked out sluggishly out of his office, my bones felt dumb to exercise more actions. I left the hospital feeling stunned and unsure of what to do. Why had my family been so insistent that I donate my lung to Ava if it wasn’t necessary? And then it hit me, they wanted me to donate my lung because they loved Ava more. My mum was fine with the idea of Ava having two and I having just one since it scientifically meant she would have a longer lifespan than I.

I felt like I had been punched in the gut. My own mother who was supposed to love and care for me unconditionally was willing to sacrifice my wellbeing for my sister’s. The thought sent a wave of nausea through me, and I had to stop myself from vomiting

As I walked out of the hospital, I could not help but think about all the times my mother had favored Ava over me. The way she would always take Ava’s side in arguments, the way she would always praise Ava’s accomplishments and ignore mine. I had been used to it and always brushed it off as sibling rivalry, but now this is too far and I am tired of it

I felt a pang of hurt and anger. Why did they love Ava more than me? Was it because she was the favorite child? Because she was more outgoing and popular? Or because she looked exactly like our mother? that they only loved me because I was willing to sacrifice myself for her. I felt like I was just a means to an end, a way for them to save Ava’s life without having to make any sacrifices themselves

As I walked, my legs took me to the hospital garden and sat down on a bench. I buried my face in my hands and let out a sob. Why did my family love Ava more than me? What had I done to deserve this? I can’t remember doing anything wrong to deserve this

Just as I was starting to calm down, I heard a voice behind me. Hey, are you okay?It was a gentle voice, and I turned to see a young man probably two years older than me

My breath stopped for a few minutes at how beautiful he looks, yeah I said beautiful. He stands at around 6’1with a lean and athletic build, honed from regular exercise and maybe sports. His skin has a warm, golden undertone, a little darker than mine. His hair is a rich, dark brown color that falls across his forehead in messy, effortless waves, my hands twitching with the urge to feel the silky softness. His eyes are a bright, piercing blue that seems to draw me into eternal peace like an ocean. They are fringed with thick lashes giving him a sexy look

My eyes wandered downward towards his chiseled and defined high cheekbones, a strong jawline, and a small nose. His lips, full and inviting, curled into a smirk causing me to blush at being caught ogling

Can I sit?I gulped down at his deep sexy voice before scooting a little. My cheeks felt hot as his unique cologne wandered father in my nostrils

Are you okay, your eyes looks red and you’ve got tears on your pretty facehe whispered looking at me with concern as his soft warm hands wiped my tears delicately

I hesitated for a moment before pouring out my story to this complete stranger. I told him about my family’s favoritism, about the lung transplant, and about my mother’s willingness to sacrifice my wellbeing for Ava’s

The stranger listened attentively, his expression growing more and more sympathetic. When I finished, he put a hand on my shoulder and said, You deserve so much better than this. You deserve to be loved and respected, no matter what.”

His words struck a deep chord within me and I realized that I did not have to stay in this toxic family or crave. for a life I was obviously never going to get. I didn’t have to sacrifice my own wellbeing for my family’s sake. I could stand up for myself, and I could demand the love and respect that I deserved

After my encounter with the hot stranger whose name is Noah, I had rushed home to park my things to leave only to be blocked by my parents. After telling them I quit being Ava’s denor, I had pushed them out of the way only to feel a bang against my head

I woke up next only to see myself tied on my bed, with an unfamiliar man dressed like a doctor by my bedside. On my mouth was a seal tape to stop me from making any noise. I stared at the doctor as he gave me a sinister look. The door open and my parents step in, they looked vicious and scary as they watched my every move before my mum moved closer to me and spat on my face

Max take away her heart, lungs, kidneys and anything useful, I’m sure you have more people who need them

father. than she does, all I need is the moneyshe smirked before moving out with my

I was horrified as I watched my parents leave the room, the doctor’s sinister grin grew wider as he began to prepare the equipment for the surgery. I struggled against the restraints, but they were too tight, and I couldn’t move

The doctor’s eyes seemed to gleam with excitement as he started to explain the procedure, his voice dripping with malice. You see, my dear, you are not as important to your parents as you thought, we’re never your real parent. They have been looking for ways to get rid of you for a while now, and this is the perfect opportunity. Your organs will go to people who are more deserving, more worthy of life.”

I started to struggle against the restraints, trying to break free while the doctor laughed a cold mirthless sound as he injected me with a sedative. Don’t bother. You’re not going anywhere. You’re going to be a very generous donor, moreover you look sexy so it won’t be nice if I don’t get a taste of you.”

As the sedative started to take effect, I felt my vision blurring. I knew I had to think fast, to come up with a plan to escape. But as the darkness closed in, I gave up all hope to struggle with these words in my head. If only I could be loved truthfully, if there’s a next life, hopefully I will be loved so much.”
