Chapter 70
“Whoa,” I whisper under my breath. “This place looks like a lot of money?
“That’s because it does.” Robert chuckled.
Olaf gestures for us to follow, leading us deeper into the showron.
“Pick a car that looks ladylike not girly” he said.
“Omo what about pink?” I whined but chuckled as he glared at me.
We stop beside a row of shiny cars all Mercedes and all very beautiful in different ways. Olaf gestures to a sleek black GLA with gold trim.
“This one,” he says, “is elegant, compact, and perfect for a young lady. It’s modern but not flashy”
I circle it slowly, running my fingers lightly across the smooth surface. The black paint glows under the lights.
“It’s pretty,” I admit.
Robert grins. “You mean classy.”
“I mean pretty,” I correct, grinning back.
Olaf’s eyes twinkle. “It also has a custom interior option. Light beige leather, or black and rose–gold detailing.”
“Rose–gold,” I say instantly.
Robert groans softly. “Of course.”
“You said no pink!” I remind him, smirking. “Rose–gold is totally different.”
He rubs the bridge of his nose. “Remind me why I thought this was a good idea?”
“Because I’m your favorite daughter?,” I sing–song.
“You are my only daughter.”

Olaf clears his throat, hiding a chuckle. “If I may, there’s another model I’d like to show you. Something a bit more modern
the 2025 Mercedes EQB. It’s fully electric.”
–
“Ooooh,” I say, my interest spiking immediately. “Electric sounds fancy.”
“It’s quiet,” Olaf continues, “safe, and environmentally friendly.”
Perhaps we can take a look inside, Miss Aria?”
I nod eagerly, stepping closer as he opens the door. I slide into the seat and gasp.
“Whoa,” I whisper. “This feels…amazing.”
Robert leans against the door frame, smiling faintly. “You look like you’ve already decided.”
I hesitate. “It’s perfect.”
I smile up at him. “Then yeah. I love it.”

Chapter 70
Robert glances at Olat. “We’ll take it.
“Excellent choice, Mr. Morales,” Olaf beams. “We’ll handle the paperwork and delivery.”
Robert shakes his hand again. “Have it delivered by this evening and send someone to install the GPS tracker”
“Of course.”
“Wait, GPS tracker?” I say. “Dad!”
He raises a brow. “What? You think I’m letting my fourteen–year–old disappear with a luxury car and no tracker?”
I groan dramatically. “You just assassinated my freedom.”
He chuckles, dragging me toward his car. “You’ll live.”
The sunlight outside is warm against my face as we step into the parking lot. I’m still a little dazed as the thought of appearing at school with my car.
Robert opens the passenger door of his SUV for me. “We’re not done yet.”
I pause mid–step, “What do you mean, not done? You just bought me a car as promised.”
He grins. “And now, we’re making one more stop.”
“Please don’t tell me we’re going shopping. I barely survived Helen.”
“Just get in, smartmouth.” He laughs
We drove for a while, my curiosity growing with every turn.
“Okay,” I say, squinting out the window. “Where are we going now?”
“You’ll see,” he replies.
“Every time you or Helen say that, it most definitely means shopping chaos.”
“Or surprises,” he says with a grin.
About twenty minutes later, he pulls into a large parking lot surrounded by trees. I look up at the sign.
“Golden Paw Kennels?” I read aloud.
I blink, turning to him. “Wait–are we getting a dog?”
He sneezed, turning his head to the other side and failing to hide a smile. “Maybe.”
My heart leaps. “Are you serious?”
“I figured you need a pet to keep you company,” he says, unbuckling. “The butler will appoint a maid that care of it. We’ll just…”
I’m already halfwa
out of the car before he finishes talking. “Dad, oh my God–yes! A dog! I can’t believe this!”
He laughs, following at a slower pace. “Let’s just look, first. No promises.”

1 spin around, walking backward so I can look at him. “You can’t take a teenage girl to a puppy place and expert her to just look That’s emotional damage”
Tll fake my chances” He sports.
Inside, the air smells faintly of soap as a woman behind the counter greets us with a wide smile.
“Welcome to Golden Paw! Looking for a new friend today?”
“Yes,” I say immediately, before Robert can open his mouth.
He chuckles. “We’re still considering it.”
The woman grins knowingly. “Uh–huh. That’s what they all say. Follow me.”
She leads us into a large room lined with glass enclosures. Each one holds puppies of different breeds trembling while some are bouncing against the glass, wagging their tails.
And I swear, my heart melts on the spot.
“Oh my God,” I whisper. “They’re all so cute I could actually die.
“Please don’t,” Robert mutters. “Or Helen will kill me.”

I ignore him, crouching near one enclosure where a chubby golden retriever puppy is chewing on a stuffed duck. It looks up at me with the biggest brown eyes I think I have ever seen.
The moment our eyes meet, its little tail starts wagging furiously
“Robert,” I breathe. “That one.”
Robert peers over my shoulder. “He looks… like a loaf of bread.”
“He’s perfect,” I whisper, completely smitten.
The attendant laughs softly. “He’s one of our friendliest pups. He is about nine weeks old and very gentle.”
I hold out my hand through the small opening in the glass. The puppy waddles forward, sniffs my fingers, and then licks
them.
That’s it. My heart is stolen.
Robert sighs dramatically. “I knew this would happen.”
“Then why bring me here?” I grin up at him.
The woman unlocks the enclosure and carefully lifts the puppy into my arms. He’s warm and soft and smells faintly like baby shampoo. He wiggles once, then settles against my chest, sighing contentedly.
I glance up at Robert, eyes wide and pleading. “Please?”
He studies me for a moment, then the puppy – who decides right at that second to yawn adorably and s
loser.
Robert groans. “That’s not fair. He’s using tactics.”
“He’s a baby!” I giggle.

The attendant laughs, handing him a few papers. “We’ll get his option file ready. You can fill out the forms while your daughter picks out some toys and supplies.
“Supplies?” Robert groans again. “How much can one tiny dog possibly need?”
“Leash, food bowl, bed, collar, toys-“I start counting on my fingers.
He holds up a hand. “Enough. I surrender.”
Half an hour later, we leave the kennel with me carrying a squirming golden ball of fluff, and Robert balancing bag full of dog toys, a leash, and a small bag of puppy food.
When we reach the car, I settle the puppy in my lap and he nuzzles my hoodie, promptly falls asleep.
“Looks like he’s already picked his favorite human,” he says quietly.
