Chapter 7
“I don’t have much patience.” Linda collapsed to the ground with a thud, her legs giving out.
Steven didn’t spare her another glance. He took out a small stand from his pocket and set up his phone facing the whiteboard.
The screen lit up, showing a live streaming interface. The viewer count in the upper right corner was skyrocketing by thousands every second.
“Forgot to mention to you three.” Steven’s voice was like a judgment from hell. “This live lesson on ‘rules‘ is being broadcast nationwide.”
He pointed at Linda collapsed on the ground, then looked at the principal and Director Anderson trembling beside her, and finally, his gaze became infinitely gentle as it fell on my daughter.
He said, “Now, Lily, you be the teacher. You teach them, and all the uncles and aunties watching, how this problem should really be solved.”
In front of the nationwide live stream, in the huge office, there was dead silence, only the sound of heavy, rapid heartbeats.
My daughter Lily, this child they had judged as “psychologically unstable,” had now become the sole judge.
Her body was still shaking, but when my hand covered hers, when she saw Steven’s encouraging eyes, the emptiness in her eyes was rekindled.
Her small figure stood before the huge whiteboard as she picked up the pen.
In the live chat, comments exploded: [Oh my god, making the child do it? Too cruel!]
[What kind of script is this? The child is scared out of her mind!]
[What are the parents doing!]
But the next second, my daughter spoke.
Her voice still carried traces of tears, timid but crystal clear. “3 times 5 means there are 3 plates, with 5 candies on each plate.”
She used the pen to laboriously draw three crooked circles on the whiteboard, dotting five small points in each circle. “This way, there are 15 candies total.”

Then she drew five smaller circles next to them, dotting three small points in each circle. “5 times 3 means there are 5 plates, with 3 candies on each plate. Count them up, and it’s still 15 candies.”
She put down the pen, raised her small face still streaked with tears, looked at the camera, then at Linda collapsed on the ground, and asked with all her strength, “The plates and candies switched positions, but the candies didn’t become fewer… Ms. Williams, why is it that when the result is the same, the approach is wrong? Where did I cheat?”
These few innocent words became the sharpest accusation, completely shattering the hypocrisy of
Linda, the principal, and Director Anderson before millions of witnesses!
The live chat went crazy.
The questioning voices were instantly drowned out by overwhelming anger and heartbreak!
[I’m crying! This is fucking cheating?!]
[I hereby name it the ‘Candy Plate Exchange Law‘! Little genius! This child is a genius!!]
[That bitch Linda! Come out and kowtow to apologize to the child!!]
[What’s the Board of Education’s phone number? I want to file a formal complaint! This scum
doesn’t deserve to be a teacher!]
[‘Your school‘? Bullshit! Garbage dump! Please doxx these scumbags!!]
The viewer count jumped from hundreds of thousands to five million, then ten million instantly!
The number one trending topic was followed by a blood–red “EXPLOSIVE” tag!
The principal’s fat face turned purple–red. Looking at the endless calls from city education bureau leaders on his phone, he was scared out of his wits.
Steven stepped forward, gently ruffled Lily’s hair, and held her in his arms.
When he turned around again, only coldness remained on his face.
