Chapter 12
“Mr. Walker! You’re finally awake! Thank goodness!”
When Liam woke again, his throat felt like it was on fire. He wanted to cough but couldn’t. His lips
were parched.
“Water…” The voice didn’t belong to Isabella; it was his assistant’s.
His assistant, hearing his request, quickly raised the hospital bed slowly, allowing him to sit up
partially.
“Mr. Walker, sip the water slowly.”
Liam took small sips, but swallowing required immense effort.
He pointed to his throat, indicating to his assistant that it hurt,
“Mr. Walker, your throat is uncomfortable? Okay, I’ll get the doctor immediately.”
He turned and hurried out of the room to find a doctor, forgetting even to press the emergency call
button.
Liam finally looked around the room. He was still in Thailand, but Isabella wasn’t by his side. His
assistant had likely been summoned to Thailand to care for him after his second collapse..
Doctors and nurses were soon led in by his assistant. After a brief examination, they let out long
sighs of relief.
“Mr. Walker, you are temporarily out of danger, but you’re still in a critical period. You need to remain here for a while longer. The high–altitude conditions on a plane could cause oxygen deprivation, potentially triggering another cardiac event.”
Liam glanced at his assistant standing nearby, who immediately understood.
“Mr. Walker says his throat is uncomfortable and may need further examination.” Before the doctor could respond, Isabella’s voice suddenly sounded at the door.
“Liam’s throat is fine. I’ve been personally handling his check–ups recently.”
Everyone turned to look. Isabella stood there in a beautiful off–the–shoulder top and tiny shorts- the perfect vacation outfit–holding numerous luxury shopping bags.
“Liam, you’re finally awake! I waited so long, and you didn’t wake up! I just stepped out for less

than half an hour, and you woke up! I’m so happy!”
Isabella pushed through the crowd and threw herself onto Liam’s bedside. The impact sent a fresh wave of pain through Liam’s chest, and he unexpectedly vomited a mouthful of blood.
“Ah-!” Isabella screamed at the sight of the blood, stepping back several times in disgust. When she noticed everyone’s stares, she offered an awkward smile.
“Ugh! It was so… sudden… I didn’t react in time…” As she spoke, she slowly returned to Liam’s
bedside and picked up a tissue to wipe his mouth.
Liam’s expression turned frosty. He turned his head away, avoiding her touch.
Isabella’s hand hung awkwardly in the air. Liam’s assistant took the opportunity to take the tissue from her and wipe the excess blood from the bed.
“Ms. Rossi, perhaps you should wait outside and let the doctors attend to Mr. Walker.”
“What did you say! Are you implying I don’t know medicine?” Isabella, seemingly struck on a raw nerve, flared up instantly.
But the assistant blocked her way, directly escorting her out of the door and locking it.
Isabella, however, persisted. After frantically trying the door handle and finding it locked, she began pounding on the door.
“How dare you lock me out!”
“I told you, I’m a doctor too! Why can’t I be present? I’m Mrs. Walker! Who do you think you are? Just wait until Liam gets better; I’ll have him fire you!”
“Liam! Liam! Open the door for me! Let me in!” Her last sentence drew muffled laughter from
some in the room.
“My shopping is still in there!”
