“Are you trying to drive us to death?” the man in the passenger at yelled as I swerved through the forest like a mad person. The car jerked over rough ground, tyres slipping on dirt and roots,
I didn’t hear him. Or maybe I did and didn’t care. My foot slammed harder on the accelerator, the engine screaming alongside his voice as we pushed deeper into the woods.
He grabbed the dashboard with both hands, his knuckles white the car bounced, “I swear by the moon goddess,” he shouted, “if I die, I’ll make sure to hunt you down in the afterlife
“If I don’t get there before the warriors,” I muttered, my grip tightening on the wheel, “then we’re as good as dead. I don’t even want to think about what he’ll do to us.” The words tasted bitter in my mouth.
“You mean your husband,” he shot back, “your mate, right? Why are you suddenly so scared of him? Last time, you swore he wouldn’t dare lay a hand on you. So what changed?”
I didn’t reply.
The noise from the soldiers around us grew louder. The men were already in the woods, spreading out. I knew Ace had given the order. They were searching everywhere, the forest, the borders, the training field, the old dens, every corner of the pack land. There would be no place left to hide. In a matter of days if not today they would figure it out.
I pulled to a stop a few miles from his cabin. We both jumped our and ran the rest of the way. We burst into the cabin in minutes. He was right there, in the kitchen, pacing back and forth like a caged animal. His eyes were bloodshot, the veins on his neck popping out. His nostrils flared as he breathed, like he was barely holding himself back.
“Why are you here?” he barked. The sound came out rough, followed by a low snarl like an animal he was.
I scoffed. “No, no. We’re not doing this today. You’re not going to pin your stupidity on me. What the hell were you thinking, attacking Ace?”
In a blink, he was standing in front of me. His face was red as his eyes, twisted with rage. “I did it for you.” He slammed his fist into the wall above my head, the impact shaking the room. “I did it for you, and you didn’t think to tell me Ace could wipe out over sixty of my men.”
“That’s because your men are still weak,” I shot back. “They need more blood if they want to stand a chance against Ace. He’s the Alpha of Alphas. You think he got that title by letting sixty men beat him? He takes down hundreds and walks away without a dent on his clothes.”
He stepped back, his body shaking. His feet kept grinding into the floor like he was trying to dig a hole through it. Then his head snapped toward the man beside me. “And who’s this?” he hissed.
“Nah, Moon, you better get your beast in check,” the man said coldly. “I’m not going to be disrespected when I’m only here to help.” He turned to leave.
I grabbed his arm, stopping him, my face begging before I even spoke. “Please. I’m sorry. He’s just angry, and not thinking straight. Just calm down.”
Then I looked back at the red eyes burning across the room. “He’s here to clean up the mess you made. And unless you want the soldiers finding you out here, you better calm yourself and talk properly to the only person who can save you.”
His eyes went wide, fear slipping in on his hard face. “What do you mean pack soldiers? Why would they be coming for me?”
I let out a dry laugh. “You should’ve thought about that before you used that small head of yours to attack the same man whose resources and pack you’ve been feeding on. Ace gave the order. His army is tearing through the pack lands right now. With how fast his soldiers are moving, it won’t take long before they sniff out this place.” I paused, watching his jaw tighten.

His jaw locked. He dragged in a hard breath through his nose, like he was fighting not to lose control. His fingers flexed at his sides, then stilled, tight and shaking. He paced once, then spun ward me. “You don’t even look bothered.” he snapped. “You almost look pleased that we failed. That we didn’t kill him.
1 arched a brow. “What do you want me to do? Cry?” My voice saved flat. “I warned you. Your men weren’t strong enough to face Ace. I told you to wait, to work with our plan. You can’t come at him like this and expect to win.”
“Oh yeah.” He had a vile smile on his face. “What if I told you he wasn’t exactly the target? It was his woman, and the child he was with.”
Color drained from my face as his words hit me. My head snapped toward him so fast I thought my neck would crack. “Come again?”
“With all pleasure.” He flashed me another smile. “The plan wasn’t to kill him today. It was to kill his woman and the child. He personally brought them into this pack and to his house last night. Yeah, I’m talking about the one with his favorite penthouse. The same house I heard you crying over the other night, because he never lets you visit. And he brought another woman in, they spent the night doing only what the moon goddess knows.”
I shook, my fists clenching at my sides. “You’re lying. Ace would never do that to me. Cold as he is, he’s a one–woman man.”
“Why would I lie to you? I’m only telling you what happened. Believe me or don’t, I don’t care.”
I didn’t mean to lose control, but before I could stop it, my wolf surged up fast. My hand slammed down, and the wooden table split with a sharp crack, pieces flying across the floor.
He didn’t look bothered. Instead, he kept talking, his eyes fixed on me. “So it does bother you, doesn’t it?” he said quietly. “Just like it bothers me every time you take his side instead of mine.” His mouth twisted. “I had lured him into the bush to keep him busy. The plan was simple, while he was distracted, my men would deal with the woman.”
He shook his head slowly. “But the moment he heard the child cry, he was gone into the thin air. Didn’t even look back.”
My chest tightened, my throat suddenly dry. “Who is she?” I asked, my voice trembling.
“The woman?” He let out a short, ugly laugh, his eyes filled with resentment and hate. “Another badass. Who a woman could be that strong? She was already tearing my men’s heads off before Ace even got there. The two of them, they moved like a unit. Like they’d done it a hundred times before.”
My teeth clenched so hard my jaw ached. Heat rushed up my chest. “Give me a name,” I demanded, my chest burning hot.
My hands curled into fists. I couldn’t stand the thought of Ace bringing another woman to his penthouse, protecting her the way he described. She had to be special. That was the part that burned the most. The urge to tear her apart crawled under my skin.
“I don’t have a name, but I’ll find her. I’ll take her son first. I’ll make her watch him die before I take her life. Then I’ll come
for Ace.”
I tried to even my breath. The last thing I wanted was for him to think that I still have feelings for Ace. It took me a very long time to convince him that I wasn’t in love with Ace anymore. I don’t intend to ruin that.
“I don’t care that Ace has another woman,” I said coldly. “What I care about is my name. My reputation. If the other Lunas and wolves find out Ace is keeping another woman, they’ll laugh at me and mock me.” I gave him a puppy look to gain his sympathy. “Do you want me to go through that?”
He cupped
my
cheek. “When you find her, keep me informed. I want to watch when you punish her.”
Just like that, the tension shifted, back to business. He grinned at me.

“We need to leave now, before the soldiers get here.”
The three of us ran to the car, jumped in, and drove fast until we reached the spot where my friend would take him from
there.
Before I stepped away, I turned back to him. “Ravok,” His eyes kered at the sound of his name. “The next time I see you, those red eyes better be gone. I don’t care how many wolves you have to kill or what it costs you. Gather all your men, kill the wolves, drink their blood, as much as you can. You need to survive and get stronger to be able to win against him. Get rid of the red eyes before we meet again.”
