SIN YEARS LATER
I rubbed the back of my neck in exhaustion as I walked out of the operating room. I have performed four high risk complicated surgeries today and my body needs a break.
“Char!” my friend Leslie called, jogging a little to catch up with me. She was a wolf too, and a doctor, just like me. We met back in medical school, and we’d been friends ever since.
“We’ve only got an hour break before we operate on Alpha Jason,” she said, her voice tired. “His surgery has been postponed for far too long. If we don’t do it today he might not make it.”
I glanced at her. She looked drained, every muscle tense. We had been in the operating room side by side all day, battling fatigue and keeping each other sane.
“Nobody is going to die in my hospital, you know that,” I assured her with conviction.
A smug smile spread across Leslie’s face. “Yeah, yeah. That’s why you have that reputation. Everyone wants you as their doctor. I mean, we never even get a day off, and here you are, still going strong.”
It’s the gift.
The Moon Goddess has blessed me. No sick person who comes to me leaves with their illness. Even the strange, complicated sicknesses that make other doctors give up.
Shortly after I woke up from the coma, I noticed I had a large dark, round spot on my cheek which started fading out until it completely disappeared. And with each passing day I was filled with something divine. I couldn’t explain it, but I realized I could heal anyone who was sick, no matter how bad.
A boy in my new pack was attacked by rogues months after I had woken up. I felt it so strongly to go help him, he was almost as good as dead when I got to him. I stretched out my hand and touched his body. All the wounds disappeared instantly, he woke up and he started walking around like nothing happened. Other incidents happened a few times, the pack members started bringing sick people to me and they all got healed.
Alpha Marcus believed it was a blessing from the Moon Goddess. He said I was meant to be a healer. So, he sent me to medical school to learn more and brush up on whatever this gift really was.
I woke up six years ago without a single memory of my past or who I was. The only thing that I have to my past is my name. Alpha Marcus said that when he found me, I had this necklace around my neck with “Charlotte” boldly engraved on it. That was how we believed that was my name and I continued with it.
I thought about changing it a few times, but deep down, I hoped that someone from my past would hear it, see my face, and recognize me.
I had barely settled into my office and was just about to grab a late lunch when the door burst open with a loud bang. I didn’t even have to look to know, it had to be Liam.
“Mummy, mummy!” he screamed as he ran toward me with pure joy and laughter lighting up his tiny face.
My son.

I had no memory of how I became pregnant with him, or who his father was. I woke up ago to find myself carrying a baby, with no clue who I even was. That had to be the hardest, most confusing moment of my life.
I got up from my chair and scooped his small frame into my arms. “Hey, baby.” All the exhaustion I felt melted away, replaced by a warm happiness that spread through me. My eyes fell on the small birthmark on his neck. It was shaped like a half moon. I had no idea what it meant or if it has something to do with who his biological father is.
He studied my face for a moment, like he always did, before saying, “It looks like you performed a lot of operations today, yeah?”
He continued, his little voice firm with concern, “Come, let me take you home. You need to rest after all that.” He jumped down from the desk where I had placed him a minute ago and reached out, offering his tiny hand for me to hold.
He knows me so well. “Yes, baby, I want to go home with you right now, but I still have one more surgery to perform before I come home.”
His lips pushed up into a cute little pout. “Then I’ll wait for you,” he declared, his tiny voice filled with determination.
“Baby, it’s a complicated surgery and you just came from school. You need to go home and rest,” I tried to reason with him, but I could see the stubborn shine in his eyes.
“Okay, let’s do it like this, mummy. If you don’t come home early tonight, I won’t eat dinner.”
My eyes flicked to the clock. It was past four in the evening. The surgery starts in an hour. It’s a complicated one, and I know it’s going to take a couple of hours at least.
“I promise to make it home before dinner.” I wasn’t sure how easy it would be, but I had to keep my promise.
“Pinky promise?” He lifted his tiny pinky, and I hooked mine with his.
His nanny came in and took him away. I quickly had my lunch and read through the documents for our new hospital, set to open in America in a few weeks. Then I changed back into my scrubs, ready for the next round.
It was a little past eight when the driver finally pulled into the large pack house. The Brimstone pack house. It’s been six years since this place became my home, and it still felt like home every single day.
I walked into the huge sitting room, the lights shining brightly, and a smile spread across my face when I saw my son sitting on Alpha Marcus’s lap. They bonded like that all the time, and seeing it made my heart warm.
“See who came home in time for dinner,” Alpha Marcus said with a bright smile on his face.
“I missed you too, daddy,” I said, giving him a small side hug.
“Mummy, Grandpa said that I’ll be going to America with you,” Liam said, his voice full of excitement. We had been talking about the opening of my hospital branch in America, and he couldn’t hide how happy he
was.

“Why are you suddenly so happy? The last time we talked about it you said you were going to miss your friends.”
“Yes, but Grandpa said we’d only stay there for a short while and then come back here to London,” he replied, bouncing slightly with excitement.
I don’t know exactly what happened six years ago, but Alpha Marcus found me after an accident. He said he was around that area that night when a fast car came straight toward me. It hit me with full force and pushed me down the cliff.
It was a female driver, and she drove off immediately. Marcus went down the cliff in the darkness to find me. He found me alive and took me to his friend’s pack that was nearby for a checkup before bringing me to his pack in London.
He was there that night to visit his dead wife and daughter when it all happened. I’ve called him Dad ever since, and he has treated me like his own daughter. So much so that many people actually believe I really am his daughter.
After dinner, I put Liam to sleep before heading back to the living room to join my
dad.
“Is everything settled for the opening of the hospital?” he asked, handing me a glass of white wine. I love wine.
“We are ninety–five percent ready. And I’m not kidding when I say we are already fully booked over there too,” I said, shaking my head a little in wonder. It still amazed me how much people trusted me with their lives.
“Your name is in every mouth out there. Both the humans and the werewolves need you.” He had a proud fatherly smile on his face when he said that.
“I have mostly Alphas, Lunas and betas on the list. Many of them tried to come here to London, but my schedule was full. It’s still full,” I said, shaking my head slightly at how crazy it was.
“Speaking of bookings and lists, there’s an Alpha you have to meet. He’s the Alpha of the Brownleague pack, Alpha Ace Virel.”
Why did that name suddenly sound so familiar? “His name sounds familiar, dad,” I said, squinting my eyes and trying to think deeper.
“You don’t have to think too far. He’s the Alpha everyone runs from. He has a reputation for being vicious, ruthless and deadly.”
I rolled my eyes. “I also know another Alpha with a similar reputation.” He laughed, knowing fully well that I was talking about him.
And then it clicked. I remembered seeing his name a few times on the Alpha’s booking lists for special cases. I just never got the chance to meet him or see what he looked like. It had never come to his turn.
“He’s the Alpha our company is going to be partnering with. Having him join our new automobile company will really give us a big boost,” Dad said.
We had just opened a new automobile company and had been looking for a strong partner. This one seemed

“Aside from his reputation, he’s well known in the business world. His name is on the top three billionaires in the world.”
Dad is also very wealthy but he’s in the top eleven.
“Did I also tell you that your accident happened very close to his borders? At first, I even thought you were from his pack or maybe a neighboring one.”
