Chapter 35

ACE

Never

That single ward shattered something inside me. Her eyes were led with hate and disgust. They pierced straight into my soul. If my mate did that to me, I would never forgive him. He deserves whatever is happening to him

I swallowed hard, my heart clenched as every bit of hope and courage I had managed to gather died right there. You’re the unforgiving type, huh?”

She ran a hand through her hair, letting out a short chuckle that didn’t reach her heart

You don’t know anything about me,” she said quietly. I was in a coma for months. When I woke up six years ago, I couldn’t remember anything about my pastShe took a deep breath. Do you know what it feels like to wake up without knowing who you are? I don’t even know my real age. All I have is my name. No surname, no pack. I was probably severed from my pack. I felt disconnected, almost like a rogue, until I found another homeanother pack.”

She looked away. I don’t know what I did to deserve that. But if ever get my memories back, I wouldn’t want anything to do with the person or people who did that to me, unless it was all a misunderstanding,”

My eyes watered at her words. I never imagined she had been through so much. This was the first time she was opening up to me like this

She didn’t choose to be your soulmate, she continued. The moon goddess did. But you chose to punish her. Why? The poor girl must have been so hurt that she ran away. She shoved her hands into the pockets of her scrubs. So if you think I’m the unforgiving type, then yes. I am.”

I felt like a selfish bastard. I had been thinking only about myself my pain, my curse, never about her. Still, I believed in second chances. Everyone deserved at least one. I had been young and stupid. I didn’t know any better back then. No matter how badly someone messed up, I believed forgiveness should count for something

You don’t believe in redemption?I pressed. I’m trying to make it right. I’ve been searching everywhere for her. Don’t you think”

She cut me off with a quick wave of her hand. You’re only searching for her now because you ended up cursed.” Her eyes locked onto mine. Answer me honestly, Alpha. If the moon goddess hadn’t cursed you or put you through all that pain, would you have ever gone looking for her at all?”

I opened my mouth to answer but everything disappeared. She was right, if the moon goddess hadn’t cursed me, I would never have bothered to dig into the truth or question the chef and I would be living my best life with Moon. That realization made me understand that I was more evil than I thought. I deserved my pain and I deserve the curse

She nodded slowly. That’s what I thought.”

Charlotte,I breathed

Find your rejected mate. Do whatever it takes and get her to forgive you willingly. Then her tone shifted, turning professional. In the meantime, you’ll come here twice a week until I figure out these new symptoms. She gave me a hard look. Miss it once and find another doctor. I won’t keep treating a patient who doesn’t value his life or wastes my time.”

If only you knew how much you mean to me, I thought. I held her gaze and spoke softly, I’ll come here every day if I have to,I added with a small, playful smirk

I said twice a week, she shot back and I laughed

And Ace,she called, stopping me. Please take back your men. appreciate you looking out for us, but I don’t need you sending your security to watch us. We’ve been doing a pretty good job on our own.”

Chapter 35

I felt lighter the momem I stepped out of her office. I slid

car, ready to drive off, when my phone rang

Alpha.Roman called the moment I picked up. You need to come back to the park house now. Two elders are here and they won’t leave unless they see you.”

Thissed under my breath

By the time I got to the pack house, it was already late evening.wo men were waiting in my living room. They both stood up when I walked in. Elder Dave bowed his head in respect, but Elder Simon didn’t. He stood tall, chin raised, looking at me like he was daring me to react. My wolf roared in my head

All the elders, including Elder Simon, worked with my dad without issues. Everything changed the day my father decided to step down. Many elders supported his decision, but Simon and few others didn’t. He strongly opposed me becoming Alpha. He believed that son of a gun, Gavin, deserved it more than I did

Since I took over, I’ve made this pack number one in the world. The most feared, the most respected amongst many other things. I’ve achieved things that son of a gun never did and never will. Even Elder Simon enjoys the benefits that come with my rule. I demand respect

I hear you’ve been crossing into the human world almost all the time,he hissed, his tone dripping with disrespect

I’m demanding an explanation for what you’re looking for out there.”

My eyes flared. What I do with my time is none of your damned business. Keep your dirty nose out of it.” My voice came out dangerously low

My wolf wanted to tear him apart, but I held him back. Barely. Elder Dave nudged Simon, warning him to stop, but Simon ignored it

He sneered. A real Alpha wouldn’t be sneaking into the human world chasing skirts while his Luna sits childless. Maybe Gavin would’ve given this pack a stronger future than you ever could.”

My wolf exploded

The air in the room shifted, it suddenly became heavy and suffocating. Power rolled off me in thick waves. Simon’s face drained of color, his lips trembling as fear hit him full force. His confidence shattered right in front of everyone

Bow,my wolf commanded through me

The room shook. The walls trembled like they might crack. Every single person in the room dropped to their knees at once, their heads slammed to the floor under the weight of my Alpha aura

II apologize for disrespecting you, Alpha,” Elder Simon stammered, his voice breaking. I give you my word, I will never disrespect you again. Please, show mercy.None of them dared to bring up their faces

He kept on begging but I didn’t answer. I turned and walked out, leaving them right there on the floor

The next morning, Roman came to my office to explain why the elders had really shown up. It wasn’t the upcoming festival
